  • Diaobingshan City Police Severely Persecuting Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Hu Ying - Additional Information

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hu Ying currently detained at the Diaobingshan City Detention Centre. She is currently very weak. The prison doctor has brutally tortured Ms. Hu Ying in an attempt to force her to end her protest hunger strike. While in detention, Ms. Hu Ying suffered from kidney failure, and had difficulty urinating. The guards did not care and did nothing to help her. She was in such agony that in her pain, she struck her head on the wall and screamed out so loudly that everybody in the centre heard her.
  • Facilities in Guizhou Province Designed to Torture Falun Gong Practitioners

    Many practitioners are incarcerated in The Zunyi City No. 2 Detention Centre in Guizhou Province. On the surface this detention centre looks "serene and peaceful with birds and flowers." Inside, however, many practitioners are being inhumanely abused with many vicious methods of torture. I witnessed practitioners being stripped and body searched, put in handcuffs and shackles, and their clothes cut up. The abusers splashed cold water on them and secretly took their pictures. Practitioners were monitored around the clock, interrogated, force-fed, and forcefully injected with unknown drugs that damage the nervous system. The guards used criminal inmates to beat practitioners and verbally abuse them.
  • Mo'erdaoga Forest Police Department Persecutes Practitioners in Inner Mongolia

    Practitioner Ms. Wang Shuwen, 62, has been harassed many times by police officers. On May 30th, 2002, eight or nine officers from the Mo'erdaoga Forest Police Department arrested Ms. Wang, searched her home, and confiscated many Falun Gong books. Ms. Wang was detained for two months. While she was in detention, officers went to her home, and harassed and threatened her family. In May 2008, approximately six officers searched Ms. Wang's home. In August, Mo'erdaoga Police Station officers harassed Ms. Wang at home. In September, once again officers from the Mo'erdaoga Police Station harassed her.
  • Ms. Xu Wenxiu from Yuzhong District, Chongqing City Persecuted During the Beijing Olympic Games

    On July 26th, 2008, police went to the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Wenxiu and demanded that she not go out during the Beijing Olympic Games. On the morning of August 1st, Ms. Xu was arrested simply because she went out to buy stamps. The police also searched her home. On August 4th, police took Ms. Xu to the "Training Centre" in Nanan District for brainwashing. She was held until October 6th. Due to persecution in the brainwashing centre, Ms. Xu Wenxiu's legs became painfully swollen, and her hands and feet can no longer perform basic movements. The police station and neighbourhood committee also dispatched people to engage in long-term surveillance of Ms. Xu's home.
  • Ms. Liu Xiaolian's Death a Premeditated Act of Murder by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

    This article describes how Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Xiaolian's death was a premeditated act of murder, rather than a "death-as-a-result-of-torture" incident. While she was imprisoned, Ms. Liu suffered numerous hardships, including being subjected to a brutal torture method called, "Five Horses Splitting a Body." She was also beaten with metal shackles, injected with poison, force-fed poisonous pills, shocked with high-voltage electric batons and needles, and humiliated by male prisoners. Ms. Liu died on October 26th, 2008, at the age of 68.
  • Mr. Jin Wenhua from Luquan City Subjected to Forced Labour

    In July 1999, the Chinese Communist regime started the persecution of Falun Gong. In order to let more people understand the truth about Falun Gong, Mr. Jin Wenhua, 39, went to the Luquan City Party Committee Office to appeal. The female deputy county head, Song Juyun, and ten other officers met with them. Due to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s high pressure policy, nobody dared to treat them justly. Officers from the Dahe Township Police Station arrested Jin Wenhua. After they were released, the police harassed and detained Mr. Jin many times. On July 14th, 2008, police arrested Mr. Jin again. Mr. Jin Wenhua is now in the Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp.
  • Ms. Song Chang Forced to Have an Abortion

    Ms. Song Chang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hubei Province, worked in Guangdong Province with her husband. On July 17th, 2008, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel in Guangdong and police from Hubei arrested her. Ms. Song was sent back to Shashi and forced to have an abortion. She is detained at the Shashi Detention Centre and is very weak. In the detention centre, all she was given to eat was water and several pieces of vegetable. In addition to being weak after the abortion, Ms. Song also developed a fever. Even in such a difficult situation, the authorities did not release her or even allow her family members to visit her.
  • Practitioners Tortured Long-term in Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison

    The Training Ward of Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison has been moved to the Ninth Ward to detain new prisoners. This ward has been designated to force brainwashing on Falun Gong practitioners since August 2005. The first step in brainwashing newly arrived practitioners is performed by two collaborators. Those who give in to the brainwashing are converted to Buddhism. Those who refuse to accept the brainwashing are passed on to three prisoners. These three prisoners then torture the practitioners by forcing them to stand for long periods of time, sleep deprivation, handcuffing, and hanging them up by their wrists with rope.
  • Mr. Gu Wenqi Suffers a Mental Collapse After Eight Years of Persecution

    Mr. Gu Wenqi, 42, is from Liaoning Province. Because he refused to stop practising Falun Gong, he was subjected to brainwashing, detention, imprisonment, and forced labour. He was also confined to a psychiatric hospital, without his family members knowing, even though there was nothing physically or mentally wrong with him. During Mr. Gu's trial, the court did not allow him to have an lawyer present nor did they publicly announce or record his sentence. So, without any legal procedure whatsoever, Mr. Gu was imprisoned for 8 years, simply for practising Falun Gong. On August 20th, 2008, when Mr. Gu was finally released, he was unable to recognize his family members or his close friends, and still thought that he was back at Jinzhou Prison.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Pass Away in Anhui, Liaoning, and Hebei Provinces as a Result of Persecution

    Mr. Zhang Liangming, about 47 years old, lived in Anhui Province. Since July 20th, 1999, he was frequently harassed and detained several times by local police. In 2000, Zhang Liangming was sent to a forced labour camp by the local police because he want to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was then sent to Nanhu Forced Labour Camp in Anhui Province. The clinic in the forced labour camp gave him unknown injections and he suffered a mental breakdown. His family later bailed him out for medical treatment. He never recovered and passed away on June 12th, 2008.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Zhang Lanping and Yu Meixiu from Hefei City Persecuted in Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Lanping, 57, was arrested by agents from the 610 Office because she exposed the persecution of Falun Gong to people in May 2008. She was imprisoned in Hefei Forced Labour Camp, and 15 days later transferred to the Anhui Provincial Women's Forced Labour Camp. She is now on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Additionally, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Meixiu was arrested by local police before the Beijing Olympic Games, and was sent to the Anhui Provincial Women's Forced Labour Camp. The police tortured her with "restraint clothes" so severely that she became humpbacked and cannot straighten her back.
  • Ms. Wang Fengjuan from Jilin Province Detained in the Kunming City Forced Labour Camp

    Because of harassment from the local police, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Fengjun was forced to leave home and go to work in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, in June 2008. She was arrested just ten days after arriving in Yunnan Province, and sentenced to three years of forced labour. She is now in the Kunming City Forced Labour Camp. In the morning, Ms. Wang is forced to write statements renouncing her belief; in the afternoon, she has to do hard labour.
  • 300 Practitioners Arrested, 30 Detained in a Forced Labour Camp, 2000 Yuan Extorted from Each

    Sun Jinbo and Wang Fucai, directors of the 610 Office, have given orders to ransack and arrest Falun Gong practitioners. Their slogan was, "Arrest 300 practitioners, detain 30 in a forced labour camp, and extort 2,000 yuan from each one." Simultaneously, they told the public by TV propaganda to report practitioners to the police, and they could receive 200 to 1,000 yuan for reporting each practitioner. During the Olympic Games, nearly 100 practitioners were arrested, 13 were put in forced labour camps, and over 30 were detained in a brainwashing centre.
  • Ms. Huo Shuxiang Dies Due to Persecution in Heilongjiang Province

    On June 27th, 2007, police arrested Ms. Huo Shuxiang when she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. She was detained for fifteen days and extorted of 1000 yuan. After she was released, her family strictly monitored her, as they were fearful that Ms. Huo would be arrested again. Her family didn't let her study the Falun Gong teachings or do the exercises. Under the heavy pressure from her employer and family, she became ill. She died on November 23rd, 2008, at age 48. Her child is still young.
  • Retired Schoolteacher Ms. Chen Guiqin Dies From Torture--Nine Family Members Persecuted

    58-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Guiqin was arrested and sentenced to two years at the Harbin Drug Rehab Re-education Centre in Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. The police interrogated Ms Chen through the night and the next day. Female officer Wen Xiaohui then attacked her and threw her to the ground. She pulled her up by her hair, and forced her to stand facing the wall with her head bowed and body bent for a long time. Due to torture, her health deteriorated, and she died on January, 6th, 2004, after being released. Nine family members, including her four children and her husband, were also subjected to severe torture and harassment.
