Many Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Beijing by Officers Switching off Electricity Supply
2012-01-19Around 7:00 p.m. on November 17th, many Beijing practitioners were arrested. To lure the practitioners outside, the officers switched off their electricity. At this time we know that seven practitioners were arrested and their homes ransacked. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hou Yongchun was taken to a detention centre. However, he was not accepted by the detention centre because of high blood pressure. The police released him and he has returned home. -
Sentenced to Forced Labour and Prison in the Past, Mr. Liu Ruxing, 60, from Longxi County, Gansu Province, Passed Away
2012-01-18Sixty-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Ruxing was from Longxi County, Gansu Province. Due to the long-term persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), he passed away at home on December 25th. Mr. Liu was sentenced to forced labour camp for two years and sentenced to three years of imprisonment. -
The Forced Labour Persecution behind the “Jin-long-yu” (Gold Dragon Fish) Brand
2012-01-18“Jin-Long-Yu” is a brand of cooking oil commonly seen in grocery stores and supermarkets in China. People barely notice the small tag hanging around the bottle's neck, and it's more unlikely that they would know that the knots were tied manually by inmates and Falun Gong practitioners in Shanghai Women’s Prison. Over the years, the target quota for each person went from tying 300 knots an hour to 650, which is equal to 5200 knots every day based on eight working hours a day. The strings are coarse, so the skin on the knot tier's fingers peels off after rubbing the strings repeatedly. This is especially true in winter time, when it’s cold and dry. -
Mr. Kou Chuangjin's Attorney Pleads Not Guilty in Second Hearing
2012-01-17On December 1st, the Xifeng District Court in Qingyang City, Gansu Province held a second hearing of the charges brought against 60-year-old Mr. Kou Chuangiin. Mr. Kou's attorney, brought in to defend him, pleaded not guilty on his behalf. All of those present in the courtroom were thus provided with an opportunity to learn about both the goodness of Falun Gong, and about the brutal truth of the persecution that Falun Gong adherents face under China's communist regime. -
Ms. Wei Mingzhen Unable to Care for Herself After Being Tortured in Liaoning Women's Prison
2012-01-17Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wei Mingzhen, 55, was arrested on May 20th, 2007. She was beaten severely and detained for over five months. She was sentenced to three years in prison and was taken to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison on November 8th, 2007. Ms. Wei is currently unable to care for herself after being tortured in prison. -
Retired Official Tong Ruiqing and His Family Persecuted by Nanle 610 Office in Henan Province
2012-01-16Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tong Ruiqing, a retired official from Handan City in Hebei Province, was sentenced to one year of forced labour. He has been detained for nearly three months at Nanle County Detention Centre in Henan Province. On October 20th, officers from the Nanle County Police Department and agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) submitted his case to the Nanle County Procuratorate again in an attempt to persecute him further. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Endangered in Sanshengmiao Brainwashing Centre in Sichuan Province
2012-01-16On the night of September 7th, police stormed into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Tan Chunmin. They beat her and then arrested her and took her to the Sanshengmiao Brainwashing Centre. While in the brainwashing centre, Tan Chunmin sat with her legs crossed in the lotus position and was therefore brutally tortured by guard Liao. He even broke her bed in the process. Liao threatened Ms. Tan, “If you sit in the lotus position again, I will sting you with nettles and pour pepper juice over you.” Personnel in the brainwashing centre also brutally forced-fed Ms. Tan and put toxins in her food, which severely damaged her health. -
62-Year-Old Ms. Jiang Jingping Dies as a Result of Injuries Sustained Through Torture in a Heilongjiang Province Forced Labour Camp
2012-01-15Ms. Jiang Jingping was tortured both mentally and physically for one year in the Heilongjiang Province Women Drug Rehabilitation Centre, a labour camp in Harbin City. After returning and being at home for only one month, she died as a result of the torture she suffered in the forced labour camp on November 30th, aged 62. -
Mr. Liu Haiqiang Pleaded Not Guilty, Still Sentenced to Prison
2012-01-15On June 29th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Haiqiang was arrested at home by police. Mr. Liu was detained at the Xinji Detention Centre. The Xinji City Court secretly tried Mr. Liu twice without notifying his family. Mr. Liu pleaded not guilty in court. He said, “Freedom of belief is every citizen's right. I practise Falun Gong and follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person. I'm not guilty. I produce informational materials about Falun Gong for those who don't have Internet access, to let them know the truth about Falun Gong. I don't need to tell you how many leaflets I made or who I gave them to. If I tell you, you will go persecute them. What I have done is legal and legitimate." However, on December 15th, Mr. Liu was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. -
Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Xinzheng City in Henan Province Sentenced to Prison
2012-01-15Ms. Chen Xihong, Ms. Jia Jinhui, Ms. Zhang Shuling and Ms. Chen Xiaoni were arrested by police on the night of October 15th, 2010 because they practise Falun Gong. In May 2011, they were sentenced to between three and three and a quarter years in prison. During the fourteen months when the practitioners were detained in Xinzheng Detention Centre, they were made to do forced labour, working for more than ten hours a day gluing paper boxes. This form of work is actually against the detention centre rules. But whenever government officials went to visit or inspect the detention centre, the products and work tools were removed and hidden from view. -
Three Senior Citizens Persecuted in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia
2012-01-15On November 11th, Mr. Temule was arrested by local police, and his home, along with the home of Ms. Ji Liping, were then ransacked. In the days following Mr. Temule's arrest, both of their families were harassed by police. Ms. Ji Liping is now missing, and it is believed that she was arrested on November 16th. On November 17th, Ms. Qi Lingyue (Mr. Temule's wife) was also thought to have been arrested. Their whereabouts are currently unknown. -
The Life and Death Experiences of a Persecuted Primary Inspector
2012-01-14Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Fu Rufang, 59 years old, was the principal inspector at the Tongnan County Disease Control Centre; she is now retired. Before she began cultivating Falun Gong, she suffered from serious illnesses. In June 1996, after she began practising Falun Gong, all her diseases were gone. However, when the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution of Falun Gong, Tongnan County diseases control centre officials coordinated with the police to persecute Ms. Fu. Throughout the more than ten years she has been persecuted, she has been imprisoned and tortured many times. -
Unjustly Sentenced to Eight and a Half Years in Prison, Musician Mr. Jin Yuan Is in Critical Condition
2012-01-14On June 24th, 2011, Mr. Jin Yuan, 52, former musician with the Anhui Province Song and Dance Troupe from Zhuhai, was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison by the Xiangzhou District Court in Zhuhai City. He is presently detained in Yangjiang Prison and he is in a precarious situation. Mr. Jin was previously arrested in 2001, brutally beaten up, tortured, and sent to a forced labour camp for three years. -
Ms. Xu Jianxin Severely Beaten by Agents from 610 Office and Taken to Forced Labour Camp
2012-01-14Officials at the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) called for a meeting with all the residential committees in Weifang in early June 2011, and ordered them to submit a list of Falun Gong practitioners in their area. Agents from the 610 Office then arrested practitioners on June 27th based on the compiled lists. Ms. Xu Jianxin, in her 60s, was one of them and was taken to a brainwashing centre. 610 Office agents beat Ms. Xu at the brainwashing centre and tried to extort a lot of money from her. Angered by her refusal, they took her to the Second Women's Forced Labour Camp in Wangcun in August 2011. She is still being held at the camp. -
Mr. Zhang Su from Wuhan Arrested and Detained for Half a Year; His Family Is Under Severe Stress
2012-01-14Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Su was arrested by officers from the Wuhan Domestic Security Division on May 5th, 2011. His family was not informed of his arrest and did not know of his whereabouts. They filed a missing person's report at police stations and sent a formal complaint to the Hubei Procuratorate and Wuhan Procuratorate. It is now known that after Mr. Zhang was arrested on May 5th, and he was taken to Hubei Province “Legal and Educational Centre,” which is actually a brainwashing centre, the same day. Mr. Zhang refused to comply with the guards' orders, and on May 8th he was handcuffed, kicked and beaten by guards. He was subjected to brainwashing sessions all day, every day, until 9:00 p.m. Unknown drugs were put into his food, causing him to develop abnormal conditions.
