Ruichang Court in Jiangxi Province Attempts to Frame Four Falun Gong Practitioners
2011-12-11On the morning of November 10th Ruichang Court in Jiangxi Province attempted to frame Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Han Yuming, Ms. Zhou Meili, Ms. Yao Fenglan, and Ms. Zhang Daidi, who had been captured by the police. In court, all four practitioners said that through practising Falun Gong their hearts were purified and their health restored. They were able to become good people according to the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and refrain from committing bad deeds. Freedom of belief is a right protected by the constitution. -
Mr. Li Huosheng from Wuhan City Sentenced to Five Years in Prison
2011-12-10Officials at Wuhan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) planned and organised the arrest of several dozen Falun Gong practitioners on April 19th and 20th, 2011. Police went to Mr. Li Huosheng's home at around 1 a.m. on April 20th. They confiscated mobile phones, Falun Gong materials exposing the persecution, Falun Gong books, a printer, cash and other personal belongings. Mr. Li was handcuffed and forcibly taken away. Mr. Li is being held at Wucang District Detention Centre. He has been tortured and interrogated. A secret trial was held on September 27th for Mr. Li and he was sentenced to five years in prison. The court didn't notify any of Mr. Li's family. -
High School Student and Family Sent to Forced Labour for Expressing Discontent on the Internet
2011-12-10Mr. Liu Xiaolin is a high school student from Hualongqiao Village, Shandong Province. His scores were high on the 2011 National College Entrance Exam. However, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and local government officials barred him from entering college because he and his family practise Falun Gong. Mr. Liu was later taken to a forced labour camp for expressing his discontent with the persecution of Falun Gong on the Internet. Soon after that, his father Mr. Liu Zonggang and mother Ms. Sui Qiaohong were arrested and sent to forced labour camp. -
Pudong New District Court Officials Put Young Analyst on Trial
2011-12-10Officials from the Second Tribunal of the Pudong New District Court in Shanghai tried 29-year-old Mr. Feng Xingji on November 22nd. Mr. Feng was arrested by Lu Xiaojun and other officers from the Pudong District Police Department and the Chuansha Police Station on June 29th. Currently, he is detained at the Chuansha Detention Centre. -
Ms. Zhao Rongcai Subjected to Brainwashing in Nanjing Women's Prison
2011-12-10On the morning of February 17th, 2011, several police officers, broke into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Rongcai's home and arrested her. They took her directly to the Nanjing Women's Prison and announced her prison sentence of four and a half years. However, they refused to provide her or her family any legal documentation. Ms. Zhao's four children are now left at home with no one to take care of them; the youngest is only six. -
Mr. Li Kongxiang, 64, Dies after Three Days of Brutal Interrogation
2011-12-09Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Kongxiang, 64, died on November 11th after being interrogated and tortured for three days by police at the Sanmen County Special Patrol Division. On November 7th, a group of police broke into Mr. Li's home. They ransacked his house and arrested Mr. Li without showing any identification or legal documentation. In the following days, his family inquired about his whereabouts through various avenues, but they received no information. Three days later, Mr. Li's daughter received a phone call from police informing her that she needed come to pick up Mr. Li. Mr. Li was on the verge of death after three days of torture. He was very weak and unable to sit up. His whole head, back, abdomen, and inner thighs were black and blue. His stomach was discoloured and swollen. He died shortly after. -
Former Kindergarten Teacher Ms. Wei Xingzhi Has Prison Term Extended by a Year
2011-12-09Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wei Xingzhi was arrested in September 2009 and sentenced to two years in prison by the Wuchang District Court. She should have been released on September 23rd, but the Wuhan City Women's Prison officials extended her term by a year, using the excuse that she refused to be “reformed” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. Ms. Wei was subjected to severe physical abuse and mistreatment during her two years of detention. Guard Jiang Chun in the New Arrivals Team placed Ms. Wei in solitary confinement, where she was hung up with handcuffs on a metal door. -
Former Government Official Ms. Zheng Lanrui Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison by the Zhengding County Court
2011-12-09Zhengding County 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, recently collaborated with the Zhengding County Court to sentence Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Lanrui to seven years in prison. Since her arrest Ms. Zheng has been held n the Zhengding County Detention Centre. Her health has severely declined as a result of being tortured in the centre. She was put in handcuffs and shackles, so she was unable to move around. She became emaciated and couldn't take care of herself. Even though she was in such poor condition, the 610 Office forbade her family from visiting her. -
Ms. Wang Fang from Anping County, Hebei Province Tried
2011-12-09On October 25th, the Anping County Court held a session for Ms. Wang Fang. The prosecutor presented false charges against her. Ms. Wang was taken away by police while she was working on June 22nd. The police confiscated her computer, mobile phone, and other personal items. Ms. Wang was detained in the Anping Detention Centre. In court, she was accused on the trumped-up charge of “destroying evidence”. Sun Yihe tried to force Ms. Wang to answer where her printer was, then suggested that she could be released after she gave a clear explanation. In actuality, Ms. Wang did not even own a printer. -
Ms. Xu Zhen Murdered in Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp
2011-12-08Ms. Xu Zhen, 46, was arrested in a residential area on September 20th for distributing pamphlets about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp on September 26th. As Ms. Xu refused to cooperate, the camp guards took her to the fourth floor and instigated a group of inmates to torture her. Guard Yu praised the inmates who beat Ms. Xu, telling them that they were accumulating merit by doing so, and that the more severe the torture, the better. They taped her mouth and feet, punched and kicked her, and continued to torture her with various means. On October 19th, she was tortured to death. -
Sixty-Eight-Year-Old Ms. Zheng Hongying from Fushun City, Liaoning Province Put on Trial, Villagers Call for Her Release
2011-12-08Ms. Zheng Hongying, 68, was arrested on September 6th, 2011 as she spoke with people about Falun Gong in Wangjiabu Village. Participating in the arrest were the Nankouqian Police Station head and two officers. They punched Ms. Zheng in the chest very hard, causing her severe chest pain from which she still hasn't recovered. Qingyuan County Court officials tried Ms. Zheng on November 18th, in an attempt to imprison her. Ms. Zheng was taken to the Fushun City Detention Centre following her arrest. After more than two months, she is in very poor health as a result of the physical abuse and mistreatment she suffered while in detention. -
Ms. Zhang Yuqin and Ms. Yin Xueli from Shenqiu County, Henan Province, Sentenced to Forced Labour; Overcome with Grief, Ms. Zhang's Husband Dies
2011-12-08Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Yuqin and Ms. Yin Xueli, Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on May 1st, 2011, as they spoke with people about Falun Gong. They were now in the Shenqiu Detention Centre. Ms. Zhang and Ms. Yin stood trial on September 21st and were informed on November 9th that Ms. Zhang had been sentenced to three and a half years of forced labour, and Ms. Yin to three years. While being detained, Ms. Zhang was subjected to different forms of persecution, and her health was poor. She could only walk with assistance and entered the courtroom with others holding her up by her arms. -
Mr. Lin Hai from Zhijiang City, Hubei Province, Taken to Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre
2011-12-08Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lin Hai was arrested at work on November 17th, by police and officials. The following day Mr. Lin was transferred to the Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre. The arrest was orchestrated by Zhijiang City 610 Office head (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) Xiong Jianming and had been planned for a long time. On National Day in early October, Xiong had planned to set up a brainwashing centre in Zhijiang City to persecute Mr. Lin, but the scheme ultimately failed. -
After Being Arrested Eight Times, Ms. Chen Shuqin Dies in Changchun Women's Prison
2011-12-07During the past 12 years of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) suppression of Falun Gong, Ms. Chen Shuqin had been telling people about her own experiences to affirm the goodness of Falun Gong. She was arrested eight times, served a one-year term in a forced labour camp, and was sentenced to five years in prison. During her time in detention, she was subjected to severe physical and mental abuse, she became emaciated, and her back was hunched over to a 90 degree angle. She died in Changchun Women's Prison in February 2011. Her head was swollen when she died. The prison paid 50,000 yuan to her family to settle her death quietly. -
Schoolteacher Ms. Yang Fang from Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province Detained for Nearly Six Months
2011-12-07Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Fang, 45, has been detained for nearly six months. Ms. Yang was followed and arrested by police when she posted Falun Gong materials on the evening of June 21st, 2011. A gang of police officers ransacked her home the following morning and took away Falun Gong materials, a printer, cash, bank deposit books and her other personal belongings. Police took Ms. Yang to the Ganyu County Detention Centre. Before this, Ms. Yang was taken into custody in 2005 and sentenced to four years in prison because she remained steadfast in her spiritual belief, Falun Gong.
