  • Entire Family Devastated as 76-Year-Old Grandfather, Mr. Luo Zhenggui, is Tortured in Guangyuan Prison

    Mr. Luo Zhenggui and his wife were detained by officials from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for not renouncing their belief in Falun Gong. They were subjected to brainwashing and sentenced to imprisonment. In May 2004, while they were being tortured in prisons, Mr. Luo's father-in-law passed away. His wife almost died from torture. They are now homeless in an effort to avoid being detained again. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials confiscated their home, stole their personal belongings and withheld their pensions.
  • More Information Regarding Practitioners Arrested by Luojiang County Court in Deyang City, Sichuan Province

    On March 7th, 2011, the Luojiang County Court announced a trial to be held against four Falun Gong practitioners. However, the trial was actually just a trap to lure practitioners into the courthouse, where they were arrested. In total, twenty-two practitioners from various counties in Deyang City and some practitioners from Mianyang City went to the court for the hearing and were arrested and taken to brainwashing sessions.
  • 53-Year-Old Ms. Zhan Zhongrong Secretly Sentenced to Forced Labour Camp

    On July 4th, practitioners Ms. Zhan Zhongrong (53 years old) and Ms. Bi Lanxiang (70 years old) were arrested and detained by the Fulai police station. Ms. Zhan Zhongrong’s son went several times to the national security team and asked to see his mother and her arrest papers, but his request was denied. Ms. Zhan’s son received a notice on July 19th, from a police officer. It said, “Your mother was sentenced to forced labour or one and a half years.”
  • Deputy Director of the Education Commission of Hanjiayuan Forest Bureau in Daxinganling Region Dies

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Yaru was persecuted in Heilongjiang Women's Prison. She died of leukaemia on July 20th, 2011 at the age of 48. In July 2008, Ms. Li was taken into custody by local police. They broke into and ransacked her home, confiscating her computer, an MP4 player, and other personal items. They forced her to sit on a bench with Falun Gong books and photographed her. The police claimed that for one year they had watched as Ms. Li told people the truth about Falun Gong and promoted withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organisations. Ms. Li was sentenced to three years in prison.
  • Guangzhou Lawyer Zhu Yubiao Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

    The Zhuhai District Court in Guangzhou held a session on July 13th, 2011. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhu Yubiao was sentenced to two years of imprisonment. Mr. Zhu's mother denounced the judge for being controlled by the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and sentencing her son, bringing shame to the law. After she spoke, the judge was speechless.
  • Former County Government Official Persecuted Due to His Beliefs

    Falun Gong practitioner Kou Chuangjin is a former county-level government official in the Qingyang Business Bureau. On June 29th, over ten police officers from the Criminal Police Brigade of the Xifeng District Public Security Bureau in Qingyang surrounded his home. They drilled through his anti-theft door, and broke into his home. They arrested Mr. Kou, and confiscated some of his personal belongings. Mr. Kou was held in the Xifeng District Criminal Police Brigade for two days, and subsequently taken to a detention centre.
  • Mr. Lu Lianglin from Chenzhou City Persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party

    Mr. Lu Lianglin recovered from incurable Hepatitis B after he started to practise Falun Gong. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, Mr. Lu was arrested many times. Mr. Lu pasted over 20 posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on poles in several villages. A villager in Pailou Township reported Mr. Lu and police arrested him. Mr. Lu was taken to the Anren Detention Centre, where he was forced to do labour, stringing together plastic beads. After detaining him for approximately seven months, they still had not released him.

    In May 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Li went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution in the Jiansu Province Women’s Forced Labour Camp. However, the guards force-fed her many times. Each time after the force-feeding, the guards covered Ms. Li’s face and body with a dirty, black cotton sheet and left her in the hot sun in the courtyard. Practitioner Ms. Liu Shuyun was tortured to mental disorder soon after she was sent to the labour camp. She frequently displayed symptoms of having a mental disorder, causing her to shake and twitch from head to foot and be unable to walk or take care of herself.
  • Miao Shuqing from Fushun City, Liaoning Province Suffers Years of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Miao Shuqing has been arrested by Chinese Communist Party officials multiple times since 2000. Throughout the ordeals, Miao Shuqing has refused to give up her beliefs. She was detained at Jianglu Police Station, Fushun Police Station, Qianjin Police Station, and Shenyang Women's Prison. During one arrest police made Miao sit on a chair with shackles on both of her feet, with her hands stretched apart and tied to metal rails, and her lower body tied to the chair. Her legs were then lifted up until they were above her head, then let down, then lifted up again. This was repeated several times. This kind of torture was also used on others, to injure the thighs, causing the practitioners to be unable to walk.
  • Ms. Ma Yongju Is Persecuted for Her Belief in Falun Gong

    Before she began practising Falun Gong, Ms. Ma Yongju's health was so poor that she didn't have enough strength to walk. Falun Gong improved her health dramatically. In 2000, Ms. Ma went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution of Falun Gong, a freedom granted in China's Constitution, but was arrested and sent back to her hometown where she was locked up for 15 days. In 2002, Ms. Ma was sentenced to three years of forced labour for distributing materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. In 2009, she was sent to a forced labour camp for a second time. She was deprived of sleep and forced to stand still for extended times to the point that her leg muscles started to shrink. Warden Yuan Fang instructed inmates to poison Ms. Ma's food, causing her to seriously vomit three times within a day.

    On June 20th Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lv Renjuan was arrested by police in Longkou City, Shandong Province. On July 5th, she was sentenced to one year of forced labour, and was sent to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Zibo City. Her relatives went to the forced labour camp to ask them to release Ms. Lv, but they were unreasonably beaten and detained. They were subsequently released.

    The 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) ordered the arrest of Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Ying'e and Ms. Liu Qiaomei. Ms. Liu Qiaomei was arrested at home by police on April 25th. Ms. Liu's whereabouts were unknown to her family. Her family later discovered that she was being detained at the Wugong County Detention Centre. She was sentenced to a year of forced labour on June 2nd. Ms. Liu is now at the Shaanxi Forced Labour Camp for Women. There, she is forced to work like a slave, doing heavy manual labour.

    Xinjin Brainwashing Centre is not only a place for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to detain persecuted Falun Gong practitioners, but also a place for the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), National Security, and Domestic Security to extort money. A person familiar with the situation said that every time a Falun Gong practitioner is detained, the brainwashing centre demands 10,000 yuan from its supervisor organisation for its expenses. Where does this funding come from? First, government funding. Second, robbing of Falun Gong practitioners' personal assets. Third, extortion from Falun Gong practitioners' workplaces. Fourth, fund-raising by the neighbourhood associations.
  • Retired Military Official Mr. Wu Zhongming Died as a Result of Persecution

    After the communist regime launched the persecution on July 20th, 1999, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Zhongming not only had long-term fear while facing threats and harassment from the police, but also experienced great mental torment. He developed a fever and lost consciousness on May 4th, 2004 and was sent to the hospital for emergency care. He became paralysed, and his family had to take care of him. Mr. Wu died on the evening of January 26th, 2011, at the age of 81.
  • Third Arrest of Ms. Peng Dongjun from Tongliang County, Chongqing

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Peng Dongjun, 58, was arrested by four plainclothes police officers at the Anju Township bus station on June 24th. She has since been secretly detained at Tongliang County Detention Centre. Ms. Peng went on a hunger strike to protest her arrest and her physical condition is critical. This is the third time Ms. Peng has been arrested. She was previously imprisoned for four years, during which time she was tortured via various methods, including having her hands cuffed behind her back.
