The Persecution of Practitioners in Handan City Forced Labour Camp, Hebei Province
2010-01-07A typical day in Handan City Forced Labour Camp starts at 6:00 a.m. After washing, the forced labour of making wreaths begins and doesn't stop until 9:30 p.m. There is almost no break time. The three insubstantial meals include two small buns, a piece of pickled vegetable, and a ladle of thin rice soup for breakfast, two buns with a scoop of bok-choy (Chinese cabbage) soup, sometimes with tree leaves or worms in it, for lunch, and two buns with a scoop of thin rice soup for supper. The food is not enough for anybody. As soon as a refill is announced, the other inmates all run to get more, leaving nothing for Falun Gong practitioners. In addition, the workshop is in the dining hall, and the irritating smell left from the work materials lingers. -

In 2000, my 24-year-old brother was taken to a forced labour camp for a year, which was followed by a nine-year prison term. During his detention, my brother was tortured until he threw up blood and his life was endangered. In the meantime, my mother was persecuted with great cruelty. In Shenyang City Detention Centre, to protest the persecution, she went on a hunger strike. Instructors force-fed my mum, inserting a thick rubber tube into her nose and forced cornstarch and super salty water through it. Their violent treatment caused her to bleed all over. -

During each forced-feeding session, they forced between 1.5 kg and 2 kg of unknown food into my stomach, followed by pouring water down my throat to the extent that the water nearly came out of my mouth. They held me down to prevent me from vomiting or moving. When I struggled to get up, they grabbed my hair and smacked my head against a wall, causing several bumps. I did not want to open my eyes and felt dizzy all the time. I suffered from bouts of headaches and always wanted to sleep. When they could not insert the feeding tube, they blamed me for holding the hunger strike. Later on I vomited blood. -
