  • Mr. Ma Kaihua in Renqiu City, Hebei Province, Inhumanly Persecuted During the Olympics

    On August 7th, 2008, a plain-clothes police officer went to practitioner Ma Kaihua's home claiming that he wanted Mr. Ma to decorate his house. When he confirmed that it was Mr. Ma's home, police arrived and searched the premises without presenting any legal papers. Of August 8th, about 50 police surrounded Ma Kaihua's house. They climbed up to the top of the house and surrounded Mr. Ma, who was sleeping on the roof. A gang of policemen attacked him. They violently beat him with sticks and rubber batons and shocked him with high voltage electric batons. They continued to beat him until he fell off the roof, which was seven metres high. The ground was cement and Mr. Ma was unconscious after the fall. They arrested him and took him to hospital. Mr. Ma was in a critical condition.
  • Crimes against Practitioners Committed in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province

    Ms. Xu Chunlong was handcuffed in the introspection room at the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp for 48 hours, with her body and face black and blue from having been beaten. Her eyes, beaten to purple, were so swollen she couldn't open them. They also tortured her by injecting water into her nose. Ms. Ji Huili was beaten so brutally that she was unable to stand up even two months later, and couldn't walk unless someone supported her. At Suining Brainwashing Centre, Mr. Zhu Xianghe died as a result of gross abuse within five days, and his eyes and organs were removed. Ms. Shi Zhongling was abused for one year and two months, and subjected to tortures causing two broken ribs.
  • Mr. Ren Yuzhong Arrested, His Wife Becomes Homeless, His Mother-In-Law Passes Away in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province

    During the Beijing Olympic Games, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ren Yuzhong and detained him in the Xuanhua Brainwashing Centre. They also intended to arrest his wife, Liu Yongli, so she had to leave home to avoid being persecuted. After Mr. Ren was arrested, his mother-in-law became ill from the stress. She passed away in August 2008. She wanted to see her daughter and son-in-law before she passed away, but it was not to be.
  • Intensified Persecution at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp During the Olympics

    During the Beijing Olympics in July and August of 2008, Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, escalated the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Guards tortured steadfast practitioners with electric batons, placed them on the "Stretching Bed," This method of torture involves placing a practitioner in the middle of two beds with his or her arms and legs tied to the beds. The beds are then pulled apart. Practitioners have screamed out in unbearable pain from this torture. Guards also forced them to stand in the hot sun for long periods of time, slapped their faces, and beat them.
  • One Year After Her Arrest, Ms. Zhou Mozhen's Whereabouts Are Unknown

    In August 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhou Mozhen from Gulin County, Sichuan Province was arrested and sent to a forced labour camp. However, her whereabouts have since been unknown. Her term is supposed to have been over, but she has not returned home. When her family went to inquire of the 610 Office and police department, the officials would not answer them. Her family members are very worried about her.
  • Dr. Peng Jianying from Sichuan Province and Ms. Cheng Jiying from Liaoning Province Died as a Result of Persecution

    Ms. Cheng Jiying, 61 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner in Anshan City, Liaoning Province. Because she was steadfast in practising Falun Gong, she was persecuted by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents for a long time. She was frequently detained in forced labour camps and brainwashing centres. Both her body and mind were severely hurt. In 2003, she was arrested and detained in the Anshan Detention Centre. Later, she was sentenced to three years' imprisonment and persecuted in Dabei Prison in Shenyang City. Her health became worse and worse. In July 2006, she was released, but by then she was blind and bedridden. On September 19th, 2008, she passed away.
  • Ms. Shen Yuxia Dies in Police Custody in Guangdong Province

    On August 12th, 2008, 610 Office agents arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shen Yuxia at her family-owned tofu stand at the Beiqiao Market. On August 27th, after only 15 days in police custody, her family was notified that she had died. Ms. Shen's family saw that her body was covered with wounds, and her chest was covered with dark bruises. When her family asked doctors about how she died, the doctor told them that Ms. Shen was already dead when she arrived at the hospital. Mr. Shen's husband Yu Jinnan is also a Falun Gong practitioner, and is currently incarcerated in Hunan Province.
  • Ms. Wang Yanfeng Dies in Guangshui City Detention Centre, Hubei Province

    On September 4th, 2008, Guangshui City 610 Office agents arrested practitioners Ms. Wang Yanfeng and Ms. Sheng Cuilian. Guangshui City Domestic Security agent Fang Hong brutally beat Ms. Wang during the arrest process. The two women were detained in the Guangshi City Detention Centre, where they held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. They were cruelly beaten repeatedly each time they refused to eat. They were both extremely weak, and 46-year-old Ms. Wang Yanfeng died on September 24th, 2008.
  • Exposing the Brainwashing Centre in Plant 854, Pengzhou City

    A brainwashing centre is located inside of Plant 854, an abandoned military logistics plant. The local 610 Office rented over 20 rooms from the plant during the Beijing Olympics and uses them as a brainwashing centre to secretly persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Many practitioners were tortured to death or physically disabled in the previous brainwashing centre. Furthermore, the Pengzhou 610 Office colluded with the mental hospital in Pengzhou to inject drugs to damage practitioners' central nervous systems. Falun Gong practitioners were mentally healthy, but they were so severely tortured with the injections, that they were incoherent and appeared mentally ill after one night.
  • Ms. Ding Guiying from Honggang District, Daqing City Sentenced to Forced Labour

    Ms. Ding Guiying, in her fifties, makes a living as a hairdresser and also rents out some apartments. Since she began practising Falun Gong in 1996, she followed the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and was known to be a noble person. She provided warm and thorough service to her customers. For those who rented her apartments, she provided them with quilts without any charge. Her husband passed away a long time ago. She raised her two daughters on a meagre income. From the perspective of her neighbours, Ms. Ding is kind hearted and has a strong will. Yet, with no regard for her upstanding character, the authorities sentenced her to forced labour recently.
  • Former Professor at Tsinghua University Exposes the Persecution of Falun Gong

    On March 13th, 2006, two dozen police officers broke into Dr. Xu Yan's house and began searching for Falun Gong related materials. When the police found Falun Gong books they arrested Xu and his wife. Mr. Xu was taken to court and sentenced to two years in a forced labour camp. A policeman told him, "It's dangerous for us to catch criminals but it is not so with Falun Gong practitioners. We also get cash awards for arresting practitioners." "We are catching Falun Gong practitioners in preparation for the Olympics in two years." For eight months, he was locked in solitary confinement and was forced to sit on 1/3 of a small stool that was only 12-inches tall all day. He wasn't allowed to move or close his eyes and suffered terrible physical pain due to the strange sitting position.
  • Ms. Zhou Shanhui's Life in Danger from Torture at the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre

    On May 24th, 2008, practitioner Ms. Zhou Shanhui was arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong in Hongyan Town, and was beaten by police to the point where the rubber baton was broken in half. She was then detained in a detention centre, where guards wired her arms and legs onto a bed frame, cutting into her flesh and causing her excruciating pain. Guards beat her severely. When she held a hunger strike, she was force-fed with highly-concentrated salt water, causing Ms. Zhou to be in extreme pain. Her life is in danger.
  • Ms. Chen Lichun in Dire Need of Treatment to Avoid Amputation, Labour Camp Authorities Refuse to Release Her

    Falun Gong practitioner 37-year-old Ms. Chen Lichun is being held in Heilongjiang Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. After being tortured, she is in danger of losing her legs. Her brother borrowed 40 thousand yuan and tried to bail her out to go to a hospital. However, none of the guards received any of the money except the 3rd group head, Ning Lixin. All the money has gone into his pocket for the past two years, and he has still not allowed her to be bailed out.
  • Jiang Derong in Critical Condition at Daqing City Prison

    In May 2002, police went to Mr. Jiang Derong's home to arrest him. When the police arrived, neighbours started to gather outside to see what was going on. The arresting officers deceived them by saying that they were called in to prevent Mr. Jiang from killing his parents. Soon fire fighters showed up to break a window so the police could enter. Mr. Jiang was arrested and sentenced to seven years in the Hongweixing Prison in Daqing City. On January 26th, 2006, guards took Mr. Jiang and fellow practitioners, out in public and mercilessly beat them. About a year ago, Mr. Jiang started showing signs of pulmonary tuberculosis - a direct result of the physical and mental abuse he suffered at the prison.
  • Mr. Yu Ming's Forced Labour Term Extended - Suffering Torture in Liaoning Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yu Ming is from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. For eight of the past nine years of persecution, he has suffered three terms of forced labour and has been tortured with many different means, including being tied to a tiger bench. His latest term should have ended on September 2nd, 2008, but he is still being detained. Mr. Yu Ming previously ran a clothing factory, and had become very affluent. However, because he spent eight years in forced labour camps, the business lost money and he had to close it down. His family also lost their source of income.
