Practitioner Mr. Geng Jinzhu Dies After Years of Persecution

Mr. Geng Jinzhu, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hebei Province, died on July 5th, 2008 after being tortured into disability and suffering years of harassment and extortion at the hands of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities. He was in his 40's. In September, 2001, he was detained and brutally tortured at a brainwashing centre. One time, several policemen from the brainwashing centre used rubber batons to beat him. The beating went on all night long until the policemen were so tired that they were out of breath. As a result of the severe beating, Geng Jinzhu's whole body turned black and blue. His flesh was separated from the bone and his body was so swollen that his clothes didn't fit any more. -
Family of Five Brutally Persecuted During Nine Years of Inhumane Suppression
2008-08-14Peng Min's family lives in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. The whole family practises Falun Gong. During the past nine years of the brutal persecution of Falun Gong, all five of them were arrested. Two of the family members died untimely deaths, victims of persecution, within a month. Father Mr. Peng Weisheng was sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labour camp because he went to Beijing in 1999 to appeal for Falun Gong. Mother Ms. Li Yingxiu was arrested because she also went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was detained at a custodial station. Elder brother Peng Liang went to Beijing to appeal in 1999. He was arrested and detained at the Hongxia Brainwashing Centre. Peng Min went to Beijing to appeal in March 2000, and he was also arrested Peng Min went to Beijing to appeal in March 2000, and he was also arrested. -
Practitioner Mr. Da Jun and His Wife Tortured in Dehui City, Jilin Province
2008-08-14Police officers from the National Security Division, the Dehui City Department, and Hongqi Station went to the home of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Da Jun at 9:00 p.m. on February 27th, 2008. They ransacked the home, and took personal property and cash. Mr. Da, his wife Ms. Wang Changying, and their two-year-old son were arrested. Because of her health condition, she was released on bail for medical treatment seven days after she was detained. Ms. Wang has now been forced again to leave home to avoid being tortured. She has no earnings. -
Persecution of Mr. Li Zhonghui, an Older Practitioner from Xichang City, Sichuan Province
2008-08-14Mr. Li Zhonghui is 64 years old. He has been arrested and detained several times. In 2004, Mr. Li Zhonghui went to Xinglong to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and was arrested again. He was sent to a detention centre where he was tortured. When Mr. Li Zhonghui went on a hunger strike, he was force fed. The force feeding severely damaged his body. A month later, the Party members again sent Mr. Li Zhonghui to Tuohuang Detention Centre and sentenced him to two years and all the while torturing him. -
More than 20 Falun Gong Practitioners from Laishui County, Hebei Province Recently Detained
2008-08-13Following orders from higher-level officials, officers from the Laishui County Police Department and Laishui County State Security Division recently arrested Falun Gong practitioners and ransacked their homes. Since June 6th, 2008, more than 20 practitioners have been detained and over 70 practitioners have been harassed, and some of their homes were ransacked. Mr. Liu Chengshun, 19, was reported to the authorities after telling his co-workers the facts about Falun Gong at his workplace. Mr. Liu is being detained in the Zhuozhou City Detention Centre. -
Mr. Fan Youjun Dies as Result of the Persecution in Hubei Province
2008-08-13Mr. Fan Youjun, 56, was harassed and detained multiple times since the the persecution began in 1999. He was last arrested on October 23rd, 2007, when police broke into his home and found Falun Gong materials. Mr. Fan was arrested as a healthy man, but he was mentally and physically tortured in the detention centre. After only several months of mistreatment in detention, he became very weak. Later, his condition worsened, and his life was in danger. Mr. Fan was checked in to Tianmen City First People's Hospital. On July 29th, 2008, only 13 days after he was bailed out, Mr. Fan died. -
Officers from the Xichang City Police Department and National Security Bureau Arrest Over Ten Practitioners
2008-08-13On July 12th, 2008 several policemen from the Xichang City Police Department and National Security Bureau surrounded Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Shaohui's home. Zhang Shaohui lives on Sanya Street, in Xichang City, Sichuan Province. Several plain-clothes officers who were staked out around Zhang Shaohui's home, even stopped and checked people who were just passing by. At that time there were over ten practitioners at Ms. Zhang's home and most of them were elderly. -
Qingdao City Police Use Olympics as Excuse to Launch New Wave of Terror
2008-08-13Using the excuse of "protecting the Olympics," the CCP has rampantly arrested innocent citizens. Please look at what is happening in Qingdao City. On July 25th, 2008, when a 65-year-old female Falun Gong practitioner, Zhang Xiuying was telling people about the persecution in an open air market, she was reported to the police. Zhang was arrested by police. Later, seven or eight officers from Lingshan Town Police Station drove in two cars to ransack Zhang's home. -
Falun Gong Practitioners in Jilin Province Persecuted "To Ensure a Peaceful Olympics"
2008-08-12After nine years of brutal persecution, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) continues to harass Falun Gong practitioners. Since February 2008, more than 100 practitioners in Jilin Province have been harassed and followed, and more than 40 have been arrested, tortured, robbed, and had funds extorted from them. In addition, peasants in Jiaohe City's Yangmulinzi Village saw their farmland forcibly occupied by the government. But after they were awarded about 18 million yuan in compensation, the city Party secretary and former mayor, Zhang Enbo, seized the money. Recently, the police arrested more than 20 peasants, accusing them of being Falun Gong practitioners. -
Practitioners from Yulin City, Guangxi Province Have Endured Years of Persecution
2008-08-12Yang Dong was a student at the Tsinghua University. Because he has persevered in his belief of Falun Gong he was expelled from university. He had been arrested and detained many times. On December 27th, 2005 he was released from the forced labour camp. Yang Dong's mother went to visit him at the forced labour camp and found that he was tortured to the point of insanity and that he had scars from being burned by cigarettes. Yang Dong was tortured so severely that he finally lost his sanity. However, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) tried to blame Falun Gong and declared that he became mad because of his practice of Falun Gong. Finally his mother had to take him to a mental hospital. To the present time, his mental health has not improved. -
Authorities in Gaomi City, Shandong Province Harass and Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners Using Security for the Olympics as an Excuse
2008-08-12The Olympic Torch arrived in Shandong Province on July 20th, 2008. Police stations in villages and towns in Shandong Province received orders from Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials to facilitate the arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. On July 9th, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sui Mingying from Qiao Village was arrested by Juchenghe police officers. The officers confiscated her Falun Gong books, and about 60 CDs exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Sui was then arrested and taken to a police station. -
Practitioners Transferred to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp from Beijing
2008-08-12Chen Yan persisted in practising Falun Gong exercises at Masanjia Labour Camp and refused to do slave labour. In retaliation she was tortured and chained to her bed for an extended period of time. Since the end of June 2008, on numerous occasions, the vicious guards instigated common criminals to brutally beat Chen Yan. On one occasion, Chen Yan's head was seriously injured and required over 40 stitches. On July 17th and 18th, Chen Yan suffered numerous beatings and her head was injured again and was bleeding. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured and Killed at "Lanzhou Legal Training School"
2008-08-11In July, 2005, the "Lanzhou Legal Training School" locked practitioner Ms. Liu Zhifang, 48 years old, an actress at the Lanzhou Yu Opera, in a confinement cell in the south western corner of the labour camp. They first handcuffed Ms. Liu behind her back, then they hung her up. Ms. Liu ran a fever, so the doctor on duty gave her an IV (which usually contains unknown drugs). On a July night, Ms. Liu died. The Gongjawan Brainwashing Centre announced that Ms. Liu Zhifang committed "suicide"(including a document that was sent to all levels of government officials). They threatened people who knew the truth so they would not reveal it. To eliminate the evidence Ms. Liu's body was cremated without an autopsy. -
My Family's Suffering under the Persecution
2008-08-11In August 2001, I was sent to Deyang Prison, and forced to sleep on an iron bed without a mattress. It was difficult to sleep on such a bed, so I got up to practise the Falun Gong exercises. I did them only for more than ten minutes, and was discovered by a patrolling inmate surnamed Long. He, along with five other inmates, dragged me down from the bed and beat me. Later, I was forced to stand in a military posture. I couldn't keep my eyes open. I heard a guard shout at me viciously. Before I could react to him, he slapped me on both sides of my face continuously until he felt pain on his hand. Prisoner Wang gave him a table tennis paddle, and the guard chopped at my face with the paddle. -
Wangqing County Police in Jilin Province Arrest Many Falun Gong Practitioners
2008-08-11On July 10th, 2008, the Politics and Law Committee of Wangqing County, Jilin Province, the National Security Team of the County Police Department and the 610 Office implemented wide ranging arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in Wangqing County, using the "safety of the Olympics torch" in Yanji City as a reason. Police from various local police stations knocked on Falun Gong practitioners' doors and deceived their family members by saying that they just wanted to take the practitioners to the local police station and would send them back home soon. Some directly went to the practitioners' work places and deceived those kind practitioners with a similar trick to direct them to various local police stations. After the practitioners went to the police stations, they were interrogated and forced to copy the related provisions of law that contained slanderous content about Falun Gong.
