Mr. Pang Detained Another Four Months after Eight Years of Detention
2009-12-16Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Pang You is still detained at the Beijing No.1 Detention Centre. On December 3rd, his term of detention was four months. Mr. Pang's family has not received any pertinent legal documentation, which prevents them from hiring an attorney. An attorney can't file a court case without the relevant documentation. Mr. Peng has been detained for a second time after having been imprisoned for eight years in the past. In prison, Mr. Peng was put in handcuffs and foot shackles, which were linked together. He was deprived of sleep for many days. In order to protest, he went on a hunger strike. The guards force-fed him after chaining him to a metal sheet and shocked his legs with electric batons. -
Mr. Lin Zehua Paralysed, Still Detained in Jiamusi City Prison
2009-12-15Mr. Lin Zehua was sentenced to one year of forced labour in 2001 for his belief in Falun Gong. In September 2002, he was sentenced to three years of forced labour but was released on bail after three months in a detention centre. In February 2004, Mr. Lin was sentenced to three years of forced labour in Anshan City, Liaoning Province. On September 12th, 2007, Lin Zehua was arrested by police. During the arrest, the agents hit and kicked him in the head. Mr. Lin was taken to the Youyi Detention Centre, where he was detained for almost seven months. During that time, police took him to Youyi County Hospital to be force-fed. Presently, Mr. Lin has completely lost the ability of take care of himself. -
Medical Employee Wang Fangfu from Beijing Sentenced to Forced Labour in Liaoning Province
2009-12-15On September 15th, 2009, police went to the home of Wang Fangfu, a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing, and arrested him under the pretence of security for October 1st, the National Day. He was sentenced to two years of forced labour. In November he was transferred to the Chaoyang City Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province. While detained in Beijing, he remained determined in his belief. He was severely persecuted and has become disfigured from the physical torture. Previously, in 2002, police arrested Mr. Wang and persecuted him continuously for four months. The torture methods they used included cuffing his hands behind his back and then hanging his body by the handcuffs; pressuring his body with a pole pressed hard at both ends by two men; beatings about the face; shocks with electric batons. -
Mr. Lv Zhenjiang Seriously Wounded in Mudanjiang Prison
2009-12-15On about November 25th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lv Zhenjiang was not allowed to go to sleep and was brutally beaten by four inmates incarcerated with him in the Mudanjiang City Prison. Mr. Lv's head was seriously injured and he had to be sent to the First Hospital in Mudanjiang City for treatment to a long cut. In June 2009, officials from Mudanjiang Prison started a new round of persecution of practitioners. The guards and the inmates, instigated by prison officials, cruelly beat and tortured practitioners mentally and physically. -
Dong Zhikun and Geng Shuhua from Yunnan Forestry College Secretly Sentenced to Prison
2009-12-15On November 25th, 2009, relatives of Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Dong Zhikuan and Ms. Geng Shuhua went to the Kunming Intermediate Court to demand information about their family members. Both practitioners have been detained in Panlong No. 1 Detention Centre since March 1st, 2009. Their families have not been allowed to visit them. Kunming Intermediate officers held secret hearings in September, 2009, to sentence Dong Zhikun and Geng Shuhua to prison. Their families received no prior notice of the hearings. Mr. Dong was sentenced to three years in the No. 1 Prison of Yunnan Province. Ms. Geng was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in the Longpan No. 1 Detention Centre. -
Recent Atrocities at Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp
2009-12-14Ms. Xu Yanli is about 40 years old. She is a college English teacher with one son and one daughter. Her husband is also a Falun Gong practitioner who has been arrested and imprisoned. Ms. Xue was first sent to the forced labour camp in April 2008 and her children are being cared for by her father. In attempts to force her to renounce her firm faith, she has been tortured badly. Her left hand was burned and she lost the functioning of her thumb. The police in the forced labour camp did not let her sleep, did not let her have enough food, did not let her shower, and did not let her go to the toilet normally. She is still firm in her faith despite all of these tortures. Now she is monitored by prisoners who were arrested for drug abuse. She is not allowed to get in touch with anyone she knows. -
Further Information on the Abuse that Led to Mr. Nian Shaotang's Death
2009-12-14In 2000, 81-year-old Mr. Nian Shaotang was detained at the No. 2 Detention Centre for 56 days, which resulted in his becoming almost paralysed and developing prostatitis, a decline in the function of his kidneys, urine incontinence, and other serious physical problems. Mr. Nian never recovered from that brutal mistreatment. He passed away on July 1st, 2005. At that time, his son Nian Jingsheng was detained in the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp in Guangdong Province. His wife had no income to survive on, and died miserably ten months later. -
Husband Died as a Result of the Persecution, Ms. Li Lanying Arrested in Heilongjiang Province
2009-12-14In 2002, the police stormed into Ms. Li's home, arrested Ms. Li's husband, Gao Guang'en and he was detained for several months in the Shuangcheng City Second Detention Centre. Mr. Gao endured numerous tortures in the detention centre. He was then taken to the Changlinzi Men's Labour Camp to serve a one-year term. He was tortured until he passed out and fell to the ground. On January 5th, 2006, Mr. Gao, who was not fully recovered, collapsed while at work and died. On September 9th, 2009, while Ms. Li was posting putting up posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong she was reported arrested by police. Ms. Li was detained in the Yaziquan Detention Centre in Harbin City. -
Mr. Wang Qingguo and Others from Xin'an County, Luoyang City Arrested
2009-12-14Mr. Wang Qingguo and Mr. Zhang Wuxiu were arrested on November 24th, 2009. They are now in the Luoyang City Detention Centre. Police ransacked their homes and took Falun Gong books, information materials about Falun Gong, and other items, causing great suffering and hardship for their families. After practising Falun Gong, Mr. Wang became considerate of others and is always ready to help others. His neighbours and other villagers saw the magnificence of Falun Gong through him. -
Ms. Zhang Shoufen Suffers Mental Collapse Due to Persecution
2009-12-13Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Shoufen was carried out of a brainwashing centre on the evening of November 17th, 2009. She had been severely persecuted in the centre. Those responsible gave no details of her mistreatment. Ms. Zhang's family was instructed to go to the centre to pick her up. When they arrived they noted that her behaviour was strange. She sat on a table and would not come down. She whispered to her family when they approached her, "They want to harm me." The family noted that Ms. Zhang was behaving abnormally. -
Ms. Huang Jiazhen Grossly Abused at the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Jilin Province
2009-12-13Ms. Huang Jiazhen was mistreated at the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp beginning in 2004. The local police arrested her again in January 2009, and held her at the local detention centre for six months. She was able to escape during that time, but was arrested again. She was once again sent to the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in September 2009. Ms. Huang held a hunger strike to protest the abuse and mistreatment, which was carried out by the criminal inmates who monitored her. With her arms and legs cuffed to four corners of a bed, she was immobilised and not released even when she needed to use the toilet. She was not released from this torture until she developed a fever and needed an IV transfusion. The labour camp officials refused to let her family visit her or bring her clothes. -
An Open Letter from Zhong Shufang, a Falun Gong Practitioner from Chengdu City
2009-12-13My name is Zhong Shufang, and I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Chengdu City. My daughter Zhang Huayun, who is also a Falun Gong practitioner, disappeared more than two months ago when she was arrested by people from the Wangjiaguai Police Station in Chengdu City. I am worried about her, and I really can't accept the fact that she is severely persecuted just because she practises Falun Gong. I am writing this letter to the public to expose the evil deeds of the police under the Chinese Communist regime. -
Ms. Li Juhua Suffering from Mental Disorder as a Result of Persecution
2009-12-13On August 19th, 2009, Ms. Li Juhua was taken from her home by Hu Shuzhi, head of the Huangpi District 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), and other officers. After being detained for nearly 50 days, Ms. Li was sent to a forced labour camp for an 18-month term. She suffered from a mental disorder in the forced labour camp. Due to her practice of Falun Gong, Ms. Li has been persecuted repeatedly over the past ten years. She was detained twice and sent to a forced labour camp three times. She lost her personal freedom for four years, her home was ransacked twice, and she and her family were under constant harassment by the authorities. -
60-Year-Old Mr. Lai Jiamiao Dies in Custody in the Shaoguan City Prison
2009-12-12on November 27th, 2009, Mr. Lai Jiamiao's family received a call from Shaoguan City Prison, saying that Mr. Lai was very sick, but they did not ask the family to visit. The next day the prison authorities called again and said that Mr. Lai had died. Mr. Lai's family and their own personal business manager rushed to the prison on November 29th, a Saturday, and requested an autopsy. The prison administration refused to comply, saying, "No one works at weekends." Mr. Lai's relative condemned the prison for torturing him and for failing to notify his family of his condition sooner, which resulted in Mr. Lai's death in custody. -
Mr. Lu Yunlai Dies Two Months after Release from Forced Labour Camp
2009-12-12Mr. Lu Yunlai, 47, was arrested and sent to Baimiao Forced Labour Camp for a one-year term because he persisted in his Falun Gong practice. By the end of July 2009, Mr. Lu had developed fluid in his legs and abdomen (medical term: liver ascites), suffered an enlargement of his liver and spleen, had pulmonary tuberculosis and more. When Mr. Lu's family rushed to the labour camp, they learned that he had been checked into the hospital and diagnosed with late stage lung cancer. Lu Yunlai died on October 30th, 2009, two months after being released from Baimiao Forced Labour Camp.
