  • Abused and Forced into Homelessness for Practising Falun Gong

    In 2000, I was arrested again by police. I was detained and abused in the detention centre of Wei County for 6 months. One day, a policeman shackled my hands and took me to the second floor of the Forest Bureau. He interrogated me about participating in a Falun Gong conference but I refused to talk. He then pushed me to the ground and slapped my face, and simultaneously uttered abusive words. Realizing that he could not extort a confession from me, the Deputy Chief Lu Xueping kicked me violently until he was tired. Zhao Kai threatened me, "You will be sentenced to forced labour even if you do not confess anything." To save my family from harassment by the police I was forced to leave my home.
  • Three Practitioners in Liaoyang County Detained and Brutally Tortured

    Falun Gong practitioners in Liaoyang City have been brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Some have been forced to become homeless. Some were sentenced to prison or forced labour camps. Many were brutally tortured. Some were sent to a mental hospital and tortured to the point of mental disability. Some were persecuted to death. At least three Falun Gong practitioners from Liaoyang City, Guo Shuyan, Gao Jinling, and Ma Xiukun, died as a result of persecution. Recently, three practitioners were arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and detained by police. They were also subjected to brutal torture.
  • Give Me Back My Dad, Give Me Back My Teacher

    My dad Cui Hongde is a very kind man and would never harm anyone. He takes great care of me and my younger brother. A very warm-hearted man, he never hesitates to help those around him. He is very honest and has taught us how to be good people since we were young. In 2002, my father was detained and sent to a labour camp for around two years. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) slandered him and even told my mother that he had an affair to try to break up our family. Ms. Liu Duanai was my Chinese language teacher when I was a freshman in high school. She was very strict as a teacher, but a very gentle person. The last time I saw Ms. Liu was about six or seven years ago. Such a kind teacher was attacked by the 610 Office only because she practises Falun Gong. How can that be right?
  • 82-Year-Old Mother Denied the Right to Visit Her Daughter Imprisoned in Liaoning Province Women's Prison

    Ms. Ding Zhengfang, a practitioner from Dalian City, Liaoning Province, is being detained in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison and suffering severe illness. Ms. Ding's younger sister said to the prison officials, "Ms. Ding was in a very healthy condition after practising Falun Gong, without any illnesses. How could she be suffering from so many illnesses suddenly? Has she been confined in a tiny cell?" The two female officials denied this immediately. The two sisters insisted on seeing Ms. Ding but were refused. They had to go back home. When her 82-year-old mother came to visit her after an overnight journey, the prison officials refused to let her meet her daughter with various excuses. She had to return home.
  • Ms. Lu Shuling Develops Mental Disorder Due to Torture at the Hefei Women's Forced Labour Camp

    On February 28th, 2009, personnel at the Hefei Women's Forced Labour Camp informed Ms. Lu Shuling's family that Lu Shuling had schizophrenia, and requested that they come and get her. When she got home on March 1st, she did not even recognize her own daughter! Falun Gong practitioners detained in the camp were made to work in the workshop from 5:00 a.m. until past 9:00 p.m. every day. Since April 2008, practitioners in the labour camp have been forced to manufacture computer connecting wires. In summer, there is a toxic smell everywhere in the workshop, but prison wardens in the labour camp disregard the workers' safety to make high profits. After Lu Shuling had finished each full day of work, she was forced to stand until 2:00 or 3:00 a.m.
  • Ms. Zhao Huaichun Arrested Again in Beijing, Leaving No One to Care For Her Handicapped Daughter

    Ms. Zhao Huaichun's husband is 65 years old, is in poor health, and needs someone to take care of him. Their daughter is mentally challenged as a result of cerebritis she had while she was young, and cannot take care of herself either. She is over 30 years old, but cannot change her clothes or take a shower by herself, and does not know how to deal with menstruation. She has been entirely dependent on her mother. Now that Ms. Zhao has been arrested, her husband is unable to take care of their daughter and she is in a very difficult situation. Ms. Zhao has been rendered totally blind and unable to walk because of the persecution she suffered the last eight months in Haiding Prison.
  • Her Husband in Prison for Six Years, Ms. Liu Hong Arrested and Her Whereabouts Unknown

    Liu Hong is a Falun Gong practitioner and the owner of a restaurant in Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. As she was going to work on February 24th, 2009, she was arrested by police. About seven officers from Wuhan City Police Department were involved as well. The police took her key and ransacked her home. Ms. Liu was take away by the police. Currently, her whereabouts are unknown and her family members have not heard any information about her condition or whereabouts for more than 23 days. Her husband, Shi Lei, is also a Falun Gong practitioner. He was sentenced to eleven years in jail. He is now in Fanjiatai Prison in the Shayang District and has been for more than six years.
  • The Torture I Suffered in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp

    In November 2005, I was taken to Wanjia Forced Labour Camp for the second time by the police in Harbin City. I had already experienced different forms of torture there before. I was hung up and shocked by guards. They shocked me with two electric batons. After that they put me on the iron chair again. I was barefoot and was wearing only thin clothes, but guard Yao Fuchang opened the window in order to expose me to freezing temperatures. On the fourth day, before I had recovered from the torture with electric batons, guard Sun Qing pushed my head down and slipped an electric baton inside my clothes from the side of my neck, then shocked me all over.
  • Cruelties Committed in Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang City, Hubei Province

    Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang City, Hubei Province, has actively participated in torturing Falun Gong practitioners. Many practitioners have died because of the torture. Some of them have become physically disabled or mentally disordered. Practitioners are forced to stand on hot bricks, so hot that a cigarette could be lit on them. They have also been forced to drink their own urine. The heinous crimes committed by the CCP in Fanjiatai Prison are too numerous to count.
  • Inmates Rewarded for Torturing Practitioners at the Deyang City Prison in Sichuan Province

    Since March 2007, Liu Yuanhang, the director of the Deyang City Prison in Sichuan Province, has been rewarding inmates who torture Falun Gong practitioners by reducing their prison terms from three to six months. In 2007, over 50 inmates received such rewards. Among the approximately 3,000 inmates at the prison, guards have assigned over one hundred of them to monitor and collect information on steadfast practitioners. These inmates have a 50% better chance of having their sentences reduced than regular inmates.
  • Ms. Kang Aimin Arrested by the Jiamusi Police

    On March 9th, 2009, police from the Heilongjiang Province Public Security Bureau and the Jianshe Police Station broke into the home of Ms. Kang Aimin's son and forcibly took Ms. Kang away. Under the direct order of the Heilongjiang Province Public Security Bureau, the Jiamusi Police Department arrested more than 20 practitioners with the excuse of searching for those who set up speakers to broadcast the facts about Falun Gong. They also listed the names of Ms. Kang Aimin and five other practitioners that were wanted. Since the persecution of Falun Gong began, Ms. Kang has been repeatedly harassed, arrested, detained, tortured, and financially persecuted by the local police.
  • Mr. Li Yukun of Zhucheng City Died As a Result of Persecution

    For eight years, Mr Li Yukun suffered inhuman persecution at the hands of officers from the Zhucheng City Police Department and the Xiangzhou Town Police Station. In 2008 Li Yukun went to Qingdao City to visit his uncle. In the railway station police officers checked his ID card and then arrested him. The officers called the local police station and Mr. Li was taken to a nearby school. The officers asked him if he was still practising Falun Gong. Mr Li refused to answer as they wished, so the officers flew into a rage and intensified the persecution against him. As a result, he was devastated both mentally and physically. On August 14th, 2008, he developed heart problems, and on August 16th, he passed away.
  • Older Practitioner Mr. Xie Wutang Suffered Inhumane Torture in Wuling Prison in Hunan Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xie Wutang, 69, was recently released from the Wuling Prison in Changde City, Hunan Province. While incarcerated, he developed several illnesses, including tuberculosis, a dislocated lumbar vertebra, high blood pressure, vertebral and cerebral arteriosclerosis, severe oedema, muscle spasms, and chest pains. He was so ill that he could not walk without the aid of a crutch and felt sick most of the time with a frequent urge to vomit. In addition, Mr. Xie's lower teeth had been knocked out by officers from the Yongzhou City Police Department in 2000. Since that time, Mr. Xie has had great difficulty in chewing his food properly.
  • Mr. Lu Yonghe Arrested in July, 2008 in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, His Whereabouts Still Unknown

    Mr. Lu Yonghe was sentenced to two years of forced labour in the Nanning City Forced Labour Camp in 2001. Because he would not give up his faith in Falun Gong, he was singled out and severely tortured by camp guards. After Mr. Lu was released, he was forced to leave home and become homeless in order to avoid further persecution and possible arrest. In 2008, he decided to go back to his home town to help fellow practitioners prepare leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. In July 2008, he was arrested again along with several other local practitioners. His whereabouts and the state of his health remain unknown.
  • Exposing the Persecution in the Shanghai Women's Forced Labour Camp

    On December 29th, 2004, I was arrested and detained by police due to reports made by people who did not know the truth of the persecution. I was transferred to the Shanghai City Women's Forced Labour Camp for eighteen months. I was forced to watch DVDs full of lies, as a means to brainwash me and force me to quit Falun Gong. Since I did not submit to their demands, I was forced to stay in a small cell, sit for extended periods on a small stool, and to write self-criticism essays. I was forced to do physical labour, which I resisted. The brigade captain grabbed my collar and dragged me to her office, where she kept slapping my face left and right, and kicking my whole body.
