Members of the European Parliament Demand that Eutelsat Restores NTDTV Broadcasts
2008-07-22Since Eutelsat Communications ceased broadcasting New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) signals to China, political figures in Europe have reacted strongly. In his inquiry to the EU commission, MEP Erik Meijer pointed out that Eutelsat’s action very likely stems from its expectation to sign a business contract with the Chinese government. -
United Kingdom: Practitioners Raise Awareness about Falun Gong on Lafrowda Day
2008-07-22Falun Gong practitioners held a stall in the Cornish town of St. Just. Every July, the town is filled with colour and music on Lafrowda Day, a celebration of community arts in the area. The stall was warmly received by locals in the remote village, as well as by tourists in the area. A local radio reporter saw the stall and wanted to interview practitioners. -
United Kingdom: Candlelight Vigil Opposite Chinese Embassy Marks 9 years of Persecution

Sweden: Young Practitioners from Northern Europe Raise Awareness about the Persection of Falun Gong
2008-07-19From June 28th to July 3rd, 2008, over thirty young practitioners from Northern Europe went to Gotheborg, along with their parents, to take part in activities there. Although these young practitioners spoke many languages, including Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Chinese, it didn’t prevent them from communicating with one another and making progress together. -
Denmark: Harbin Mayor Faces Protests During a Visit to Arhus
2008-07-18An eight member Chinese delegation headed by Harbin City Mayor Zhang Xiaolian, encountered a protest when they visited the city government of Arhus, Denmark’s second largest city, on July the 6th, 2008. The protest was organised by Danish citizens to expose the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Harbin. -
Germany: Falun Gong at the Cultural Festival in Augsburg
2008-07-17Various political, cultural, charity and human rights organisations and groups from more than ten countries attended the annual Multi-Cultural Festival in Augsburg, including Falun Gong practitioners from Germany and Austria. It was the fifth time that Falun Gong had been invited to attend the festival, and the organisers were happy to see them. -

Slovakia: Falun Gong Practitioners Raise Awareness about Falun Dafa in Poprad and Climb Kralova Holy Mountain
2008-07-14On July 4th, Falun Gong practitioners from Slovakia visited Poprad, a city in eastern Slovakia, in order to inform people there about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Although the weather was not very favourable in the beginning and it even rained a little, the passers-by were not discouraged. They stopped at the petition table, read the information material and signed the petition. -

2008-07-12Reporters Without Borders calls on Giuliano Berretta, the CEO of the European satellite company Eutelsat, to quickly reverse its decision to suspend independent Chinese-language broadcaster NTDTV's use of Eutelsat's W5 satellite to broadcast to Asia. Eutelsat claims it was forced to suspend NTDTV (New Tang Dynasty Television) on 16 June because of a technical problem but a recorded conversation with an employee of Eutelsat show it was a premeditated, politically-motivated decision violating the free flow of information and the convention under which Eutelsat operates." -
