  • Special Interview with a German Practitioner: Legalization of the Falun Symbol in Germany Is Significant

    In Germany, there is a law that prohibits the display of the Nazi Swastika or other similar symbols. To someone who knows nothing about Falun Gong, the Falun Symbol might be wrongly associated with its Nazi counterpart. The Chairman of the German Falun Gong Association received an indictment from his local district court, on the charge that displaying the Falun symbol on the German Falun Dafa Association’s website was illegal. This interview follows a year of investigations and court proceedings.
  • Announcement by China Mental Health Watch: Investigating Mental Torture and Misuse of Mental Institutions in the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in China

    Ever since the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began on July 20, 1999, the media and human rights organisations around the world continuously reported on the Chinese Government's cruelty towards Falun Gong practitioners, including psychiatric abuse. According to incomplete data, about 1,000 healthy Falun Gong practitioners were forcibly sent to mental institutions, and many were forcibly injected with psychotropic drugs. They received forced electro-shock and some were tied up and force-fed for long periods of time. At least 10 practitioners died from this type of maltreatment. Many of these practitioners were held in hospitals for as long as two and a half years. At least ninety mental institutions in China participated in this particular part of the persecution.
  • Russia: Exposing the Evil Persecution through an Art Exhibition

    Chinese artist Zhang Cuiying returned once again to Russia to exhibit her paintings. She had just successfully held an art exhibition in a large city in Eastern Siberia. Mrs Zhang then went on to Pjatigorsk City in the Caucasus Mountains, which is a journey of about ten thousand miles. The exhibition was held at the central library on March the 22nd. Before the opening ceremony began, many people were already gathering inside the exhibition hall. All wanted to admire Mrs Zhang’s wonderful pictures.

  • Practitioners meet with United Nations Journalists in Geneva

    For the opening session of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights at Geneva on Thursday the 11th of March 2004, the Swiss Falun Gong Association organized a meeting with United Nations journalists, to give them the latest news on the suppression of Falun Gong and on the peaceful means being implemented to combat it. Journalists of the major press agencies showed their interest by continuing a discussion with practitioners for the duration of the press conference.
  • Sweden: Falun Gong recieves Warm Support at Sweden's Largest Mind and Body Fair

    On March the 27th and 28th Falun Gong was displayed at Swedens largest body and mind fair in Liljeholmen, Stockholm. The fair, which is very popular amongst spiritual seekers and people who are interested in alternative health care, attracted thousands of visitors. Many payed a lot of attention to the Falun Gong booth where practitioners explained the facts and demonstrated the exercises.
  • The World Psychiatric Association Will Investigate Psychiatric Abuse against Falun Gong Practitioners in China

    According to the message sent out through an NGO established last year in New York, China Psychiatric Watch, that Further to last month message, a plan for WPA and SP joint meeting (visit) in Beijing on April the 4th 2004 was accepted by the Chinese Minister of Health and the CSP for examining the records, interviewing patients and their families or doctors who were involved in the examination of those patients after obtaining their consent and access to what is required for those cases that allegedly were subjected to psychiatric abuse.

    Several hundred Falun Gong practitioners from all parts of the world gathered in Geneva for the opening of the sixtieth session of the United Nations Human Rights Commission, to appeal peacefully for a halt to the persecution that has been raging in China for almost five years. The Swiss Falun Gong Association and two victims of the persecution were interviewed by Radio City, a local radio station, for a broadcast devoted entirely to Falun Gong.
