Staff at Daxing Women's Prison in Beijing Try to Cover Up Ms. Geng Jin'e's Death

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Geng Jin'e was tortured to death in Daxing Women's Prison on June 10th, 2010. After Ms. Geng Jin'e died, Liu Yingchun, the director of Fourth Ward, held a mandatory meeting with the staff and Ms. Geng's cellmates. Liu told them how to talk about Ms. Geng's case, and what should or should not be said. The guards even demanded that others pretend that the guards had tried to rescue Geng Jin'e. The next day, when a Procuratorate official arrived to investigate Ms. Geng's case, no one dared to tell the truth. At one point, a Falun Gong practitioner simply said, "Ms. Geng was treated badly," and Liu Yingchun severely reprimanded her. -
Multiple Reports Indicate that Drug Torture is Widely Used to Silence Falun Gong in China
2011-05-02The extent of the use of drug torture to silence and even kill Falun Gong practitioners in communist China appears to be increasing. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Yuhua was injected with undisclosed drugs that made her body so swollen that she was at death's door. Prison police saw that she was dying so they sent her home so they would not have to bear responsibility for her untimely death. Prison officials instructed her family to come and get her on June 16th, 2009, and she passed away five days later at home. -
Family Devastated by Years of Persecution
2011-05-01Ms. Fu Yan was sentenced to thirteen years and six months in prison, and has been detained for the past ten years. On September 9th, 2010, her mother, Tong Shuping, asked a Beijing attorney to file an appeal for Ms. Fu. The Liaoning Women’s Prison refused the attorney's visit, providing multiple excuses. Prison officials subsequently escalated her persecution and confined Ms. Fu to a small room. The attorney’s licence was revoked in late 2010. Tong Shuping passed away one week later on March 5th, after she received notification that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) court had rejected her daughter's appeal. -
Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Sulan Passes Away after Enduring Years of Persecution
2011-04-30Before Liu Sulan began practising Falun Gong in February 1997, she had diabetes and her whole body was swollen. She was unable to work. After practising Falun Gong, she became healthy. However, since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Li, who followed the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance was detained many times. She became homeless and she suffered tremendously, both physically and mentally. After suffering serious medical complications last year, Ms. Liu passed away on April 10th, 2011. -
Mr. Ju Zaibin Dies as a Result of Persecution
2011-04-29Mr. Ju Zaibin was often pressured by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police to give up his belief in Falun Gong, but he firmly refused. In July 2002, Mr. Ju was reported to the police and was later sentenced to three years in Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp. During the first four months in the camp, Mr. Ju was subjected to forced brainwashing day and night. Under a guard's instructions, an inmate kicked him viciously in the chest, which caused him to have difficulty breathing. The three years spent in the labour camp seriously affected Mr. Ju's health. His lungs were severely damaged, he had difficulty breathing and continuously coughed. He later died at the age of 38, on November 25th, 2010. -
The Persecution of Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Dong Guiying Before Her Death
2011-04-27Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dong Guiying was arrested at least nine times by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) between February 2000 and June 2006. The police severely persecuted her and she ended up in critical condition, eventually passing away on November 17th, 2009. Just before Ms. Dong died, the police even asked about her health, intending to arrest her again. -
Mr. Yang Zhanjiu Continues to Suffer Persecution After Torture Rendered Him Disabled; His Wife Died in Custody
2011-04-27Police arrested practitioner Mr. Yang Zhanjiu again on March 5th, 2010. Previously, Mr. Yang Zhanjiu was arrested in August 2002 and detained at Yushu City Detention Centre. There, he suffered brutal tortures. He was then sentenced to a seven-year prison term in March 2004. At Shiling Prison the tortures continued. As a result, both of his legs were fractured, he had a broken ankle, and his heel bone was completely gone. He became handicapped and was released towards the end of August 2009. Mr. Yang’s wife, Li Shuhua, was arrested on September 24th, 2003. Fourteen days later, she died as a result of torture. She was only 32 years old. -
Three Falun Gong Practitioners Died As a Result of Persecution and Torture in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province
2011-04-24Three Falun Gong practitioners died as a result of brutal persecution and torture in labour camps and prisons in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province within the past few years. The practitioners are Mr. Chen Pangen, Mr. You Xinggen, and Ms. Xu Jianping. Ms. Xu Jianping, 58, started practising Falun Gong in 1998. Because of her steadfast belief in Falun Gong, she was arrested in 2005 and was sentenced to one year of forced labour. She suffered severe torture in the labour camp. After she was released, she did not recover from her injuries. She had a hard time breathing and her body was swollen. Ms. Xu passed away in September 2009. -
79-Year-Old Ms. Li Weixian Passed Away in 2007 After Repeated Abuse by the Authorities
2011-04-23The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. Ms. Li went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in October 2000 at the age of 72. In June 2003, Ms. Li was taken to the Shangfangshan Brainwashing Centre. In May 2004, police ransacked Ms. Li's home. The police confiscated Falun Gong books. Ms. Li was terrified and was under pressure from the police and the community for a long time. It exceeded Ms. Li's limit of endurance. Her health started to deteriorate and Ms. Li passed away on June 1st, 2007 at the age of 79. -
Ms. Wang Fang Persecuted to Death After Surviving Brutal Persecution in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp
2011-04-22Ms. Wang Fang survived the brutal persecution which she was subjected to on June 20th, 2001, at the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. She was released from the labour camp after two years of detention, arrested again, and held in the Mudanjiang City Detention Centre. On June 14th, 2002, she as transferred to the Hailin City Detention Centre. On September 8th, 2002, she was sent to the Harbin City Women's Prison where she suffered severe torture and became emaciated. Two months after being released from prison she passed away at the age of 46, on September 24th, 2004. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Chen Shiming from Meishan City, Sichuan Province, Died as a Result of Torture
2011-04-21Practitioner Mr. Chen Shiming from Meishan City, Sichuan Province, died on April 10th, 2011 as a result of torture. He had repeatedly been arrested and tortured before he passed away. In July 2010, Mr. Chen was arrested and sent to a forced brainwashing centre where he was injected with unknown drugs that caused memory loss and left him dependent on others to care for him. -
Forty-Three Year-Old Engineer from Chengdu City Dies After Repeated Detention and Torture
2011-04-19From 2005 to 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Yunhong was held in the Chengdu City Xinjin Brainwashing Centre, Chengdu City Detention Centre and Wumaping Prison. As a result of the mistreatment he endured in Wumaping Prison, he suffered from symptoms of ascites and cirrhosis and was in critical condition five times. He suffered brutal torture during detention and was on the verge of death a few times. He was released when term expired in the beginning of 2009, but the doctor told his family that he would not likely live much longer. On March 8th, 2011, Mr. Jiang passed away at the age of 43. -
Ms. Li Xiufeng, 53, from Tangshan City, Dies After Prolonged Mistreatment During Repeated Detentions
2011-04-19On December 10th, 2010, Ms. Li Xiufeng and four other practitioners were handing out leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Dongshuiyu Village. Police arrested them and took them to the detention centre. Ms. Li Xiufeng developed hypertension as a result of the persecution. On December 15th, half of her body became numb, and she was released after her family was coerced to pay a three thousand yuan “deposit.” On March 9th, 2011, Li Xiufeng's husband received a phone call from Qianxi Procuratorate office and asked Ms. Li to show up the next day. On March 18th, Ms. Li suddenly had high blood pressure symptoms. She was taken to hospital and passed away on March 19th. -
Terrifying Scenes of Persecution in Qiqihar City
2011-04-19Since July 1999, Qiqihar City officials have continued to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Qiqihar police officers torture practitioners with wooden sticks, hitting their legs till the bones break. They scald their shoulders with hot-water-filled stainless steel cups, then move to other parts of the bodies when blisters appear; bind them to beds; force them to sit on metal chairs for long periods; pour cold water on them in the winter; shock the women's breasts and genitals with electric batons; tape their mouths shut; gag them with socks; deprive them of sleep; and beat them with metal rods and hammers. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Gao Mingxia Held at Qingdao City Detention Centre
2011-04-18Ms. Gao Mingxia is a Falun Gong practitioner from Qingdao City, Shandong Province. She has been held in the Qingdao No. 3 Detention Centre since July 11th, 2010. When her husband tried to get her out of detention he was harassed by different branches of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He ended up getting seriously ill, and died on March 8th, 2011. Because Ms. Gao refused to give up her belief, officials forbade her from seeing her husband before he died.
