Four Practitioners in Kaijiang County, Sichuan Province Sentenced
2010-04-07The appeal by four Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Wu Licui, 55; Ms. Liu Mingying, 59; Mr. Li Bending, 65; and Ms. Wang Langying, 59, in Kaijiang County, Sichuan Province was rejected by the Dazhou City Intermediate Court on January 14th, 2010. The court upheld the verdict to incarcerate the four practitioners in the Jianyang Prison, which was delivered on September 21st, 2009. Mr. Li Bending and his wife Ms. Liu Mingying were at home when police arrested them on July 22nd, 2008. Ms. Wu Licui was not at home on July 31st, 2008 when officers from the Kaijiang County National Security Bureau and the 610 Office visited and ransacked her home. On August 17th, the police wiretapped and tracked her phone and eventually arrested her when she was out of town visiting a relative. On August 28th, the police officially announced the arrest of Ms. Wu. -
Ms. Zhang Weihua Dies as Result of Persecution in Sichuan Province
2010-04-06Ms. Zhang Weihua used to suffer from asthma, but her health greatly improved after she began practising Falun Gong in 1996. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong after the persecution began in July 1999. She was arrested multiple times, detained, and sent to a forced labour camp and brainwashing centre, which damaged her health. She died on January 29th, 2010, at the young age of 32. -
Guards Committing Crimes At the Henan Province No. 3 Forced Labour Camp
2010-04-06Examples of cruel torture in Henan Provincial No. 3 Forced Labour Camp: (1) Bring one individual practitioner to a secret place where the guards order several drug addicts to insert a brush into a person's rectum, then rotate and move the brush up and own, which will cause bleeding and blood accumulation inside the practitioner; they also use bamboo strips and other tools to slap the practitioner on his knuckles, wrists, knees and ankles, and other areas. (2) The guards tie the practitioners with ropes and then keep tightening the ropes. They force the practitioners to stand for long times, forbid them to use toilets, deprive them of sleep, and force them to do slave labour for thirteen to fourteen hours each day. Many practitioners' buttock areas were festering, and their hands frost-bitten. -
Mr. Liu Wen of Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province Sent to Forced Labour Camp Again
2010-04-06Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Wen from Dongyangfang Village, Baichigan Township, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province has been persecuted by the communist regime continuously during the past ten years. He had been incarcerated from October 1999 to 2006 and then from 2006 to 2008. He has been homeless and wandering around to avoid persecution. During this period he was arrested three times. In September 2009, he was arrested again and in December 2009, he was sent to a forced labour camp and was subsequently transferred to Xidaying Forced Labour Camp in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. -
Ms. Yang Guifang Persecuted in Pujiang County, Sichuan Province
2010-04-06Ms. Yang Guifang began the practice of Falun Gong in 1998. Falun Gong, which is also known as Falun Dafa, gave her the joy of attaining a healthy body and mind. In July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched a persecution against all Falun Gong practitioners in China. Ms Yang suffered incarceration and torture for her faith many times and her family had tens of thousands of yuan1 extorted from them by the CCP. -
60-Year-Old Ms. Shi Yingchun Persecuted to Death at Liaoning Province Women's Prison
2010-04-05On March 18th, 2010, Ms. Shi Yingchun was persecuted to death at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. Just for practising Falun Gong, she had been repeatedly arrested and detained. She had been sentenced to forced labour twice and detained in a labour camp for a total of five years. On August 30th, 2008, she was arrested again and sentenced to seven years in prison. She was detained at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison until her death. -
Four Practitioners Arrested and Detained in Changchun City's Third Detention Centre
2010-04-05On March 5th, 2010, police arrested Falun Gong practitioners who worked at the Jinjiang Printing Company. The practitioners worked hard and were trusted by their superiors and colleagues. One of those arrested, Ms. Jun, went to Beijing to appeal for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in 2000. As a result, the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) personnel imprisoned her in Heizuizi Prison for five years. There, she was beaten, forced-fed, tied down on a death bed, hung up by her wrists, forced to be in painful positions for long periods of time, and shocked with electric batons. -
Ms. Sun Fenglan of Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province Repeatedly Persecuted
2010-04-05Ms. Sun Fenglan has been persecuted four times by the Communist regime because she practises Falun Gong. She was persecuted for the second time when she went to Beijing to appeal to higher authorities for help. Before she had a chance to appeal she was arrested by officials from the local government's liaison office in Beijing. They imprisoned her for five days, took the cash she had on her, and then sent her to the county detention centre. She was held in the detention centre for 45 days, fined 5,000 yuan, and made to pay 300 additional yuan for food. She was released after she went on a hunger strike for eight days. During her imprisonment, Ms. Sun was forced to stand and/or run for long hours outdoors during the winter time. -
Zheng Baohua Suffers at the Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan
2010-04-05Ms. Zheng Baohua was taken to the Tangshan Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in July, 2008. At the labour camp she was beaten, made to stand for long periods of time, not allowed to use the toilet, not allowed to sleep, and brutally force-fed. Because she appeared to have tuberculosis and was close to dying she was released on November 15th, 2009. However, in 2010 agents began checking on her health with the idea that should she recover from her illness they would take her back to the camp. -
Ms. Zhang Fengzhen Paralyzed as a Result of Beatings Suffered at Liaoning Women's Prison--Dies after Five Years
2010-04-04Ms. Zhang Fengzhen died in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, on March 9th, 2010. For five years, she was paralyzed and suffered pain as a result of vicious beatings she was subjected to while held at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison, for refusing to renounce her belief in Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. Ms. Zhang was arrested in 2001 for distributing Falun Gong-related materials. The Heping District Court in Shenyang City sentenced her to three and a half years in prison. In March 2003, she was taken to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison (then known as Dabei Prison). Prison guards ordered inmates to beat her nonstop for six hours. As a result, her liver was ruptured. She was extremely weak when she was released in 2005. Shortly after her release, she became entirely paralyzed, and later lost the ability to speak. -
Two Practitioners Sentenced to Long Terms in Gansu Province Women's Prison
2010-04-04Ms. Zhang Zhenmin, 47 years old, is a Lanzhou Meat Packing Plant employee. Ms. Zhang Ping, about 40, was formerly employed at the Gansu Trust Investment Corporation, Bond Division. After starting to practise Falun Gong, they held themselves to the standard of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be better people. Because they would not give up their beliefs, they were mistreated and tortured by communist regime agents. Ms. Zhang Zhenmin was sentenced to eight years and and Ms. Zhang Ping to five years, and they are now in Gansu Province Women's Prison. Their captors force them to do hard labour, brutally beat them, shock them with electric batons, and torture them with other devices. -
Ms. Chen Shuyuan Arrested and Detained in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang
2010-04-04On March 10th, 2010, police officers broke into Ms. Chen Shuyuan's home and arrested her. Mr. Dong Xiufa, Ms. Chen's husband, was at home at that time. He wanted to hold the police officers back, but Chen Chao stopped him. The officers carried Ms. Chen into their car and took her to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang. Ms. Chen was sentenced to three years of forced labour. Because she was in poor physical health, she didn't pass the physical and was sent home. -
Nine Practitioners Tried in Loudi Court in Hunan Province
2010-04-04Louxing District Court in Loudi City, Hunan Province, tried nine Falun Gong practitioners on March 12th, 2010. They were arrested in July 2009. In court, as soon as a practitioner mentioned the physical benefits he or she gained from practising Falun Gong, Zhou Min rudely cut in. The defence attorneys pointed out that the prosecutors didn't provide any witness testimony, material evidence, time, or location, and that the statements of charges to the Court and lawyers were different. Lan Zhixue pointed out that there were many loopholes in the charges as stated, and that the "evidence" noted in the statement was not presented in court. The trial ended at 3:30 p.m. without any verdict being announced. Nevertheless, Cao Gongxun, Liu Xinping, and He Jinlin were subsequently sent to the Loudi City No. 1 Detention Centre. -
Defence Lawyer Calls for Ms. Song Fangming's Immediate Release After Trial by Changsha Court
2010-04-03The District Court of Tianxin in Changsha City tried Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Fangming on March 5th, 2010. She pleaded "not guilty" through her defence lawyer, pointing to the fact that law enforcement officials from the National Security Brigade and Pozi Street Police Station ignored the law when they charged Ms. Song. The lawyer also pointed out that practising Falun Gong was not a violation of any law and Ms. Song should be released immediately. -
Toyota Tsusho Employee Arrested in Beijing
2010-04-03on March 16th, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Yanmei, an employee of Toyota Tsusho Corporation's Changchun Office, left Changchun to attend a training session at the company's headquarters in Beijing. She arrived in Beijing around noon and checked into the Huadu Hotel, where the company had made a reservation for her. Before she had a chance to report to the Beijing office, police officers broke into her room, searched her luggage, and tried to take her away. Ms. Wang refused to co-operate and tried to reason with the police, who would not allow her to leave her room. At approximately 3:00 p.m., Ms. Wang was taken to a local police station.
