Family of Dentists Subjected to Persecution
2011-02-21Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) have often visited Mr. Zhang Kechen's home to harass him and his family. Officials have closed down Mr. Zheng's dental clinic several times. In October 2000, police arrested Mr. Zhang, ransacked his home and confiscated cash, a TV, VCR, tape recorders, computers and fine furnishings. Four of his family members were sent to forced labour camps. His wife was left at home alone to take care of several young grandchildren. -
The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Wang Yunfei from Tangyuan County, Heilongjiang Province
2011-02-21In 2000, because of practising Falun Gong, Mr. Wang Yunfei was sentenced to one year in a forced labour camp. In 2001, he was sentenced to five years in prison. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police officers and agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) brutally persecuted him both mentally and physically. His family members and relatives have also been subject to harassment and mental torture. -
An 80-year-old Woman Passes Away While Her Daughter Is Imprisoned in a Forced Labour Camp
2011-02-21Right before the Chinese New Year in 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jin Yunzhi's husband died in a car accident. Soon after she finished taking care of her husband's funeral, on the evening of March 3rd, 2010, Ms. Jin was reported to the authorities by a person when she was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution to people in Wangjia Village. That night police went to ransack her home and confiscated her personal belongings including her computer and printer. In December 2010, Ms. Jin’s elderly mother suffered a stroke due to grief and anxiety for her daughter and soon passed away. -
Wang Quanliang of Tonghua City, Jilin Province Arrested - Wife Calls for Release
2011-02-20On October 22nd, 2010, my husband Wang Quanliang, who practises Falun Gong, was doing some construction work at home, when a dozen police officers barged into my backyard without showing any identification, or explaining their intrusion. They started beating my husband, and he shouted for help. One policeman said, "Find something to cover his mouth so the neighbours don't hear him.” I was cooking in the kitchen, and when I heard his cries, I rushed out. The moment I reached the door, four police threw me onto the sofa. One of them said that if I tried to get up again, they would beat me. My husband was carried away by four or five men to a car. He was taken to the Guangming Police Station, where his was stripped naked, tied onto a cold metal chair, and locked up for an entire night. -
Revealed Eight Years Later: Ms. Xu Wenling from Gansu Province Died in 2002
2011-02-20Ms. Xu Wenling had cancer when she was in her twenties. She recovered after starting to practise Falun Gong in 1999. After the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20th, 1999, the police constantly harassed and threatened her. This disrupted her ability to do the exercises regularly, and she started to feel unwell. Determined to have the legal right to be able to practise Falun Gong in peace, she went to Beijing to appeal in September 2000. The police arrested her and detained her. The mental torture and physical labour caused her illnesses to recur. Later, police arrested her and shocked her with electric batons until her body was covered with swollen lumps and her lips were burnt like charcoal. Under long-term persecution, and being deprived of her right to practise Falun Gong, she died in October 2002 at the age 36. -
Mr. Hong Baojia of Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province Endures Years of Persecution
2011-02-20On June 27th, 2003, I was taken to the fifth team of the Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp. The leader was named Zhao Shuang. He said he had 28 methods by which he tortured Falun Gong practitioners. I was beaten and shocked with an electric baton, handcuffed to an iron chair and had water poured over my head, and then shocked again with an electric baton. My arms were pulled back and lifted up to move my joints. I also suffered sexual torture. All of this persecution was due only to my cultivation in Falun Gong. -
Ms. Jia Xinghua's Account of Persecution in Qianjin Forced Labour Camp
2011-02-20Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jia Xinghua was arrested and sent to Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in Harbin for more than two years. She recounts: "In early 2008, Zhang Bo, head of the No. 1 Division, increased the work quota for each inmate. As the work couldn't be finished in the workshop by 9:00 p.m., we had to take it back to the cell to continue, which exhausted all of us. When we returned to our cells from the workshop on the evening of April 29th, 2008, I could hardly breathe. I opened the window, which was beside my bed, and tried to let in some air. Zhang Bo saw it, and ordered me to close the window, even when I told her that I had difficulty breathing. She viciously said, “Go ahead and suffocate. If you die, I don’t care.” " -
Daughter in Prison, Elderly Mother Dies of Grief
2011-02-19In March and April 2009, police officers in several cities in Shandong Province began mass arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. They arrested over 100 practitioners. Most of them were sentenced to prison and labour camps. Practitioner Liu Peizhi was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Ms. Liu's daughter is only eleven years old. Her father passed away many years ago. Ms. Liu takes care of her daughter and mother. After Ms. Liu was arrested, her daughter missed her badly and her mother was in deep grief. Her elderly mother's health began to fail, and she passed away on January 30th, 2011. Ms. Liu Peizhi is still being held in Jinan Women's Prison. -
Attorney Calls for Justice for Mr. Ruan Fanghua
2011-02-19Mr. Ruan Fanghua, a Falun Gong practitioner from Changsha City, Hunan Province was tried by the Yuelu District Court on January 24th, 2011. Mr. Jin Guanghong, an attorney from Beijing, represented him and entered a plea of not guilty. The attorney pointed out that there was no evidence against Mr. Ruan and the charge had no legal basis. The attorney called upon the judge to follow his conscience and release Mr. Ruan as a free, innocent man. Mr. Ruan was arrested on August 2nd, 2010 and subjected to both physical and mental torture in custody. -
Mr. Tang Haian of Wuhan City Sentenced to Five Years in Prison
2011-02-19Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tang Haian of Wuhan, Hubei Province was sentenced on January 10th. The Wuchang District Court notified his family just one hour before his trial. There was no defence lawyer or audience present at the court. The court was adjourned after several questions were asked of Mr. Tang. On January 13th, the court notified the family that Mr. Tang had been sentenced to five years in prison, and they could visit him before 9:00 a.m. on January 24th. The court told them that before they could visit Mr. Tang, they must get a visitor's permit document from the court at 8:00 a.m. of the same morning. Mr. Tang's wife was shocked by the news. -
The Persecution of Ms. Zheng Yafeng from Changling County, Jilin Province
2011-02-19Ms. Zheng Yafeng, 37, is a middle school teacher.. She has been sentenced to labour camps three times in the last ten years because she practises Falun Gong. In July 2002, Ms. Zheng Yafeng was sentenced to one year in a labour camp because she posted banners exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. From 2001 to 2002, her school withheld her salary, totaling twenty thousand yuan. On November 8th, 2010, Ms. Zheng was arrested and taken to the Songyuan brainwashing centre. -
Ms. Ni Youmei, 47, from Hubei Province Passes Away After Nine Years of Persecution
2011-02-18Ms. Ni Youmei was brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for many years. Ms. Ni was sent to Wuhan Women's Prison in 2002. She was forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong, and then had to write a statement promising to give up the practice. When she refused, the guards handcuffed her and made her stand for long periods of time. The guards also made her do forced labour. Under such pressure and brutal torture, Ms. Ni's endurance reached the limit. She finally succumbed and wrote a guarantee statement, renouncing her belief, then soon wrote a letter to the guards retracting her former statement. In 2010 her whole body was in constant pain. Ms. Ni passed away on December 29th, 2010, only 47 years old. -
Mother and Fourteen-Year-Old Son Hung Up and Tortured by Police; Son Suffers Mental Disorder
2011-02-18Falun Gong practitioner Wang Yinping, 14 years old, lives in Qiqihar City. He and his mother were arrested when they were distributing materials about the persecution of Falun Gong in December 2001. They were tortured with being hung up and other methods for a whole night in the Nianzishan Police Station. Then the mother was sentenced to imprisonment. The son's mental health was seriously affected, and he remains unable to take care of himself. -
Song Huilan, a Farmer from Heilongjiang Province, Arrested and Persecuted Again
2011-02-18Police locked up Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Huilan in Huachuan County Detention Centre on December 13th, 2010. She protested by going on a hunger strike, and she eventually became very weak. Guards tied her to a bed and stretched her limbs out in different directions. She was immobilized, and then force-fed. Every day they inserted a thick tube down her throat twice. Each time they poured food down her throat three times. The pain in her stomach was unbearable, and she spat up blood and lost two teeth. Once while savagely force-feeding her, they punched her in the head. -
Practitioner from Yunnan Province Recounts Persecution
2011-02-18Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xue Huili was detained in a forced labour camp by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and lost her job. She recounts: "At the camp, guards forced me to write statements to renounce practising Falun Gong and demanded that I give up practising Falun Gong. They also told me that I needed to write to the agency where I worked, to let them know that I had given up the practice, and that I wanted to keep my job. I did not give into their demands. I spoke to the leader of my agency about keeping my job, but to no avail. My husband couldn't cope with the pressure, so he divorced me."
