  • Beijing Practitioner Ms. Liu Wenping Tortured with Unidentified Drugs in Labour Camp

    Ms. Liu Wenping, 55, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing. This kind-hearted homemaker has been subjected to brutal persecution by the Chinese Communist Party for her belief in Falun Gong. Between 2002 and 2003, Ms. Liu was persecuted in the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp, where unidentified drugs were used to torture her. The abuse resulted in severe injury to Ms. Liu's mind and body. The brutal torture frequently put her life in danger, and she was resuscitated several times. Ms. Liu was in critical condition upon her release.
  • Ms. Ye Wei from Shenzhen--Ten Years of Persecution Continues

    During the past ten years of persecution, Ye Wei has been subjected to physical and mental torture many times. While her physical body has suffered much, her faith in Falun Gong remains strong, a common testament of practitioners withstanding years of torture. Families of persecuted practitioners also suffer, and Ye Wei's family is no exception. The persecution extends to these families as they worry about their loved ones and worry about their own safety under threats from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
  • Seventy Year-old Practitioner Ms. Liu Ping Arrested

    On September 25th, 2009, Ms. Liu Ping, a 70 year-old female practitioner, was arrested at her home by police officers from the county's Public Security Bureau. According to her family, she was sentenced to a forced labour camp for two years. According to Chinese law, any person older than 65 cannot be sentenced in a forced labour camp. This act demonstrates how the Chinese Communist Party doesn't follow its own rule of law.
  • Outstanding Teacher Ms. Shi Jinling from Zunhua, Hebei Province, Under Two-Year House Arrest

    Ms. Shi Jinling is a teacher in Xingwangzhai Town, Zunhua, Hebei Province. In the past years, she has been persecuted by the school officials and her superiors. Xiao Yongliang, the principal, forced Ms. Shi's husband, Li Jun, a teacher from the Education Office in Xingwangzhai Town, to put his wife under house arrest in October 2007. Li Jun almost choked Ms. Shi to death on June 12th, 2009, and she is currently still under house arrest.
  • Wife of Imprisoned Practitioner Cao Xinrui Recounts the Hardships She Now Faces

    Mr. Cao Xinrui was arrested by police officers because he practised Falun Gong. He was sentenced to three years in Jidong Prison. Mr. Cao's wife is left alone to support their mentally and physically disabled son and two young daughters. The authorities from her village, township and local administration bureau refuse to acknowledge her situation, as her husband is a Falun Gong practitioner. She took her children to the prison to demand the release of her husband, but the personnel there were very cruel to her. Mr. Cao's wife said: "Since my husband's arrest, my life has become very difficult, having to bring up three children on my own. Especially my son, who can't take care of himself at all. Who will be able to help us?"
  • Mr. Zhang Lei Arrested, Four Relatives Sent to Forced Labour Camp

    On September 12th, 2009, police officers from Linhai City arrested Mr. Zhang Lei, a practitioner from Jinzhou City. On the following day, police arrested four members of his family who are also practitioners: his father, his mother, his wife, and his mother-in-law. These four practitioners have been sentenced to one year of forced labour, while Mr. Zhang Lei is currently detained in the Linghai City Detention Centre.
  • Ms. Li Yulan, 52, from Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Secretly Sentenced

    Ms. Li Yulan, 52, has been persecuted for many years for practising Falun Gong. She was forced become homeless in order to avoid further persecution. In July 2007 she was arrested again when she was staying in another city. Her family didn't know she was sentenced to six years in jail until one year later. She is detained in Jilin City Women's Prison. Previously in detention guards force-fed her and injected her with nerve-damaging drugs. Ms. Li felt numb in the face and mouth. Her mouth watered and her tongue didn't work properly when she spoke. Then she suffered from the symptoms of drug poisoning. She suffered vertigo, swelling in her head, difficulty walking and her body was limp. She couldn't speak properly.
  • Tian Shaoyan Persecuted to the Point of Loss of Functioning Abilities

    Ms. Tian Shaoyan is a Falun Gong practitioner who has been arrested and imprisoned several times due to her belief in the practice. On May 6th, 2008, Ms. Tian was arrested by police and sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp on May 27th. At Masanjia Forced Labour Camp she has been tortured and is now unable to stand up or walk by herself. She is unable to hold things in her hands, has no facial expressions, has lost several teeth, is unable to talk or recognise her own daughter, and is not mentally healthy. She is unable to feed herself and has lost a lot of weight; she cannot take care of herself.
  • Ningan City Police Threaten Mr. Ge Zhifu's Family for Hiring a Lawyer

    Four months ago, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ge Zhifu was arrested by police in Ningan City, Heilongjiang Province. They also arrested his wife, Ms. Tian Junhuan, and his mother, Ms. Mi Xinrong, at his home. Then they ransacked his home and confiscated his property, including the taxi that he drives to earn a living. Mr. Ge's father, who is over 70 years old and suffers from serious liver cirrhosis, was left home alone. When his family hired a lawyer to represent him, the police threatened them, "We will arrest you if you refuse to give up hiring the lawyer."
  • The Persecution of Practitioners at Changji Prison in Xinjiang Autonomous Region

    Practitioner Lu Yongjian was arrested and sentenced in September 2000. In 2001 He was sent to Xiabahu Prison. During the detention, in order to "reform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] him, prison guards first hit Mr. Lu with sticks. Then they beat him with electric batons. Mr. Lu's body (from the thighs to buttocks) turned black and blue from the beating. He could not sit or lie down due to the torture. He was tortured until he signed a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong against his will. However, the persecution of Mr. Lu did not stop. Mr. Lu, in his 60s, was forced to haul bricks along with the young inmates in the brick factory, which is the toughest place in the prison. Mr. Lu was allowed to sleep for only three to four hours each night. He had been detained for three years when he was released in October 2003.
  • Police Officer Li Bing from Chifeng City Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners

    In 2008, Li Bing persecuted practitioners more actively due to the Beijing Olympic Games. On April 25th, 2008, Li Bing and around eight other police officers arrested Ms. Ji Yunzhi. Ms. Ji suddenly had symptoms of a heart attack and she lost consciousness at the scene. Despite this, the police lifted her into the police vehicle and took her to the detention centre. The police laid Ms. Ji down on the cold cement floor for more than an hour, with no regard for the fact that her condition was so grave. The prison doctor brutally persecuted her, claiming that they were only trying to save her. They used needles to pierce her, which caused her head and many areas on her feet to bleed. They even stabbed a needle under her nose.
  • 71-Year-Old Ms. Su Zebi Dies Soon after Being Released from Forced Labour Camp

    On May 19th, 2008, police arrested 71-year-old Ms. Su Zebi and she was sentenced to one year in Shabao Women's Forced Labour Camp. Practitioners were forced to read books slandering Falun Gong and were forced to write reports to "correct their thinking." If they were reluctant, they were beaten and deprived of sleep. They had to perform forced labour. Practitioners had to wrap more than 60 pounds of confectionary every day, fold 350 boxes for packing down jackets, and sew details on six pairs of trousers. Ms. Su Zebi suffered serious physical and psychological injuries. After she returned home on June 1st, 2009, police harassed her and she died on November 14th.
  • The Persecution of Older Practitioner Miao Maoling at the Qinghai Province Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Ms. Miao Maoling was a retired worker from the Xining City Train Station. She was sentenced to forced labour twice, imprisoned for three years, forced to endure brainwashing sessions for several months, harassed by police officials on numerous occasions, and her home was ransacked several times. She was severely injured, both emotionally and physically. At the forced labour camp, she was shocked with electric batons, suffered physical torture, intense labour, three months of military training, and overexposure to the sun in the heat of summer.
  • Practitioners Treated Like Slaves in Benxi Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province

    Guards in Benxi City Forced Labour Camp not only brainwash and torture practitioners but also force them to perform strenuous hard labour to produce products for the camp. Practitioners are forced to straighten diodes by hand. They have sticky chemical substances on them which is harmful to the labourers' health. Practitioners have a quota of 40 boxes of diodes per week. The practitioners have to straighten the diodes in the early morning and later are forced to take brainwashing classes. From noon to 9 p.m., the practitioners are forced to straighten diodes. The practitioners have to earn 30,000 yuan for the camp each year.
  • Elderly Practitioner Ms. Fu Shulan Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

    On July 30th, 2009, the Jiangan District Court sentenced Ms. Fu Shulan to six years' imprisonment. Ms. Fu is currently being detained in Fanjiatai Prison in Shanyang. Ms. Fu's family were shocked to see Ms. Fu's disfigured appearance. Ms. Fu's face was severely swollen, she was lame and there were blood stains on her hands. Ms. Fu told her family, "They detained me in a small room for a year, I never received the 400 yuan you sent to me every month, and the handcuffs cut into my flesh and caused the bleeding."
