  • Mr. Jin Junjie Dies as a Result of Persecution in Jilin Province

    Mr. Jin Junjie, 35, was arrested and detained several times for appealing for justice for Falun Gong. In 2001, Mr. Jin was once again arrested from his home, and was sentenced to two years of forced labour. He was inhumanly tortured by the method of being locked in a small cell for a long time. He went on a hunger strike to protest, and was then tortured with force-feeding. After his release he was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis. He died on December 13th, 2008.
  • Mr. Kang Hong from Chongqing City Is Suffering Severe Persecution

    Xishanping Forced Labour Camp authorities have stepped up their persecution of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Kang Hong, putting his life in jeopardy. We urgently appeal to people from around the world to help rescue this kind-hearted person. Mr. Kang was arrested and taken to the Labour Camp around August 31st, 2008. He had to be carried into the camp, as both of his shins were fractured, making it difficult for him to stand, let alone walk. In mid-November, Mr. Kang screamed in pain all day long, flailing his arms around wildly. Knowing the dubious history of the hospital, it seems likely that the doctors injected powerful psychotropic drugs into Mr. Kang in an effort to damage his nervous system.
  • Many Practitioners Arrested Recently in Zhucheng City, Shandong Province

    Around the first of November in 2008, the Zhucheng City party secretary, Zou Qingzhong, received a phone call from a Falun Gong practitioner who was telling him the facts about Falun Gong and that Falun Gong teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance. He became very upset and ordered the police in his jurisdiction to severely persecute Falun Gong practitioners through 2008. Many practitioners have since been arrested and subjected to brainwashing.
  • Guards in Labour Camps and Prisons Receive Hefty Bonuses for Participating in the Persecution

    In Beijing, the centre of the persecution of Falun Gong, the Communist Party has used large sums of money to build new prisons and labour camps to hold practitioners. It has also maintained the persecution by paying huge bonuses to guards in order to reward and encourage their continued participation. During the 2008 Chinese New Year, the Beijing Women's Prison spent more than 100,000 yuan on fireworks. This huge sum came not only from central government funding, but also from practitioners' slave labour. It is quite possible that it included profit from live organ harvesting.
  • Ms. Wang Hongyan's Personal Account of Being Tortured in the Shulan City Detention Centre and Heizuizi Women's Labour Camp

    Ms. Wang Hongyan, a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on March 3rd, 2007, and her home was ransacked by police. She suffered inhumane persecution at the Shulan City Nanshan Detention Centre, and was later sent to Heizuizi Women's Labour Camp where she was ruthlessly tortured again. In the detention centre police ruthlessly beat Ms. Wang. Then a policeman poured a whole bottle of hot pepper liquid into a tube and said they were going to insert it into her nose. He splashed the liquid into Ms. Wang's eyes, and she couldn't open them.
  • Mr. Han Weixin is Dying in the Hebei Province Fourth Prison

    In September 2001, Mr. Han Weixin, 45, was arrested while involved in tapping into the TV system to broadcast videos exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. The Xushui County Court sentenced him to 15 years in prison, and has kept him locked in the Hebei Province Fourth Prison ever since. In November 2008, Mr. Han suddenly began to have diabetic complications and was dying. The prison administration sent him to the Shijiazhuang City Chest Hospital for emergency care. He used to be a 6 foot, 200 pound man, but he has become only skin and bones. The prison administration did not want to pay for his medical costs so notified his family to take care of him in the hospital, but will not release him.
  • Mr. Ma Shuguang, Mr. Shen Guanglu, and Mr. Gu Yongjun in Zibo City, Shandong Province Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

    In August 2008, the relatives of Mr. Ma Shuguang, Mr. Shen Guanglu, and Mr. Gu Yongjun learned that these three practitioners had been sentenced by the Zhoucun Court in Zibo City, Shandong Province. They were charged with "robbery" and sentenced to five years each. The lawsuit was filed on April 21st, 2008. The verdict did not mention any evidence of the purported robberies. The verdict did cite "Downloading Falun Gong information from the Internet to produce and distribute Falun Gong materials," which has no connection with to "robbery" at all. They are now in Jinan Prison and are being tortured.
  • Ms. Wu Yefeng from Shenyang City Detained for Six Months, Whereabouts Unknown

    Ms. Wu Yefeng is a practitioner from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. The police arrested her on June 15th, 2008, detained her in Shenyang Detention Centre and subjected her to force-feeding. She was so brutally abused that at one point she was close to death. The Procuratorate Office planned to sentence her. Six months have passed and no information on her recent whereabouts has been released.
  • A Well Known Ice-Hockey Coach is Arrested and Sentenced to Imprisonment

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gao Weixi, 70 years old, is an ice-hockey coach at the national level in China. He was arrested by police on May 9th, 2007, and detained at the No. 3 Detention Centre in Changchun. On April 29th, 2008, the Court of Nanguan District in Changchun City secretly tried Gao Weixi and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment. Gao Weixi refused to sign the court verdict. Instead, he appealed to the Changchun City Court, demanding justice. Gao Weixi was transferred to the Shiling Prison in Siping City in November 2008.
  • The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in the Dayangshu Region of Inner Mongolia

    On May 19th, 2002, police ransacked a a site producing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution and Ms. Li Haiyan was arrested. Because she refused to tell the police her name and address during the interrogation, she was viciously beaten for 14 hours, resulting in cuts and bruises covering her body. They tied her to a "tiger bench" and hit her with a metal belt. There were purple bruises all over her back, and she couldn't walk on her own. The police officers also inserted a lit cigarette into her nose and poured alcohol into her mouth. Ms. Li went on a hunger strike for more than 20 days to protest her persecution, and she was only met with punitive forced-feeding that harmed her even further. On January 13th, 2005, Ms. Li died, unable to recover from the brutal torture that she had suffered.
  • Elderly Couple From Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province Suffering Long-Term Harassment by Police

    Lalatun Village, Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province is the home of an elderly couple, Mr. Li Guifang who is 75 years old and Ms. Xi Qingjie who is 72 years old. Before practising Falun Gong, neither of them was in good health. After cultivating Falun Gong, they changed a lot physically. Especially for Xi Qingjie, she recovered from all kinds of diseases. When the persecution was launched against the Falun Gong practitioners, they told the people that were deceived by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) lies about the spiritual and health benefits from cultivating Falun Gong. However, they were reported by their landlord. Police extorted money from them, intimidated and harassed them frequently.
  • Police Arrest Dozens of Practitioners' Relatives and Friends during Trial in Mudanjiang City

    On November 28th, 2008, the Heilongjiang Provincial Mudanjiang Municipal Xi'an District Court held a trial against four Falun Gong practitioners. Relatives and friends of these four practitioners came to the court, their IDs were inspected, and only the practitioners' close family members were allowed to enter. Some of the people who were not allowed to watch the trial went to negotiate with the court staff, but they were threatened by court personnel using very coarse language. The police started to arrest the relatives and friends who were peacefully waiting to hear the result of the trial without explanation.

    When my two older sisters and I were arrested and sent to a detention centre, harshly punished, beaten, and forced to do hard labour, our father's hair turned grey overnight. When one of my older sisters, who was persecuted to the verge of death, was again arrested, our mother cried and shouted bitterly. She attempted to lie under the wheels of a car to stop her daughter's persecution. In a detention centre I was forced to do hard labour every day, and if I didn't finish my work on time, the guards deprived me of sleep. Only a small amount of hard rice noodles, which were cooked without any oil, was provided, and I saw insects floating in the muddy vegetable soup.
  • Mr. Lin Huiguo from Zhejiang Province Sentenced to Three-Year Prison Term--His Wife on the Verge of Death

    The 610 Office and police department of Wenling City, in Zhejiang Province repeatedly arrest and detain Falun Gong practitioners, ransack their homes and disturb the normal lives of practitioners and their families. Between May and October 2008, thirteen practitioners were arrested. Among them, two were sent to brainwashing centres and the rest were sent to the detention centre. In May 2008, Mr. Lin Huiguo was arrested while he was posting "Falun Gong is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good" signs on utility poles in a village. He was detained at the Wenling Detention Centre. His wife was also arrested and taken to the Detention Centre. After being tortured for about a month, she had been badly injured both physically and mentally.
  • Mr. Liu Wangquan Imprisoned for Five Years--Deyang Prison Authorities Deny Visitation Rights

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Wangquan from Weiyuan, Sichuan Province was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment in 2003. As of today, he has been held in Deyang Prison for five years. During his imprisonment, Mr. Liu's family has been allowed to visit him only once. The prison authorities have denied him all other family visits. The family's request to deliver some warm clothes to Mr. Liu for the winter was also denied. His current situation is unknown, and no one knows if Mr. Liu is still alive.
