  The police at the labour camp seriously violate the law by opening and withholding practitioners' mail and packages that their families send. Practitioners do not have the freedom to correspond. They are not even allowed to wear watches. Practitioner Chen Yujing's family sent her a watch and other gifts, which were all withheld. The police can cancel practitioner's visiting hours at will, and visiting family members are turned away...On the day when the practitioners were locked up, viciously beaten and hemorrhaging from the savagery, in the courtyard, the labour camp criminals were made to sing and dance for the video taping of a sham happy scene for TV propaganda: showing the "tender loving nurturing" by the labour camp during the transformation of the practitioners, and the "wonderful life" the practitioners have while in the camp.

  Staff member Li called me for a talk, and I told him that I had been tortured. He yelled at me "Who tortured you? Who witnessed it? If you don't accept our management, we will force you to!" I told commanders Zhao Jin, Wang Jiankong and Chen Xin about being tortured. They said that using force in prison is certain, and threatened me not to tell anyone...Currently there are more than 100 Dafa practitioners detained in the Jilin prison. Another 200 plus Dafa practitioners are being detained in the Changchun Tiebei Prison.

• More About the Death of Falun Dafa Practitioner Jilin Province Ms. Li Shuhua and the Devastation of Her Family

  When the families saw her body, it did not look like she died of hunger at all. Even though her face had a lot of make-up on it and her clothes had been changed, they still could see that there were bruises on one side of her face and there was broken skin on two places on her face. One side of her skull was caved in and there were some lumps on the back of her head. Besides that, she was extremely thin. After dissecting her body, the coroners found over 5 kilograms of blood in her abdominal cavity. The blood hadn't congealed and it was still liquid. The coroner claimed that the blood was menstrual blood. Anyone with any medical knowledge would know that this was a lie intended to deceive the family. The family doubted the reason given as the cause of her death, so they wanted to take some pictures of her body. The Public Security Bureau not only refused to allow the family to take pictures of her, but also had the police watch her body until her cremation.

Later on, I twice solemnly stated to the deputies that I believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," yet I received more hideous tortures. They shocked me with electric batons to the point that I fell unconscious to the floor with my body twitching and twisting. They tried to force me to give up my belief. In the process they mentioned Jiang often. They told me, "Jiang Zemin told you not to practise Falun Gong already and you better follow orders. If you practise you break the law. How can an arm overpower the leg?"

  In the first few weeks in Dalian Labour Camp, the guards tried to destroy us with heavy labour. They ordered me to take rocks (picked out from the coal) back to the mine shaft. They required me to move 120 wagons full of rock each day and they said I had to run. I collapsed on the first day, because I was too weak, but I had to do the same heavy labour the next day. Sweat poured out of my body. I was covered with salt crystals from the sweat. I felt dizzy under the baking sun. But I tried to be strong and never lowered my head.

The guards said, "There are no vegetables and the food is not nutritious, thus people will become blind. Hurry up and write a 'Guarantee Statement'. Only if you state that you give up with Falun Gong will you be released." Ms Wang Benying's family wasted no effort to get her released for medical treatment, but without positive results. The guards refused to release her. One of the guards named Wang Peng said, "We will not be held accountable if someone leaves the room on her last breath and died outside the door."

  They then shocked her head and the other side of her body. Upon seeing that she was not frightened, the police brought buckets of cold water and poured it down the front of her clothes. She was so cold and leaned forward, so the police pulled back her collar to pour water down the back of her clothes. Finally, they poured a bucket of cold water onto her head. She was trembling badly from the cold. She condemned the police for their behaviour. The police interrogated her for over two hours and sent her to the cell after midnight. They did not allow her to sleep and refused to let her change out of her soaked, freezing clothes.

  Zhang Mingzhu was also one of the disciplinary guards directly responsible for the murder of another practitioner He Huajiang. Because Zhang was highly "accomplished" in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, he was promoted to Assistant Brigade Leader of Daqing City Forced Labour Camp. Zhang once declared, "There is no legal consequence for killing [Falun Gong practitioners]." Daqing City Forced Labour Camp is currently sealing the records about Mr. Lu's death. When asked about Lu Bingshen's death, the response was the following: "Mr. Lu Bingshen died of heart attack."
