Greece: The Only Parade Granted Permission and Warmly Welcomed in Athens at the Start of the Olympics
2004-08-14On August the 11th 2004, two days before the Olympic Games began, a colourful Falun Gong parade took place in Athens, the capital city of the host country of this year’s Olympic Games. With surprised and happy smiles, people stopped and applauded the Falun Gong practitioners who carried banners reading “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance,” and “Falun Dafa is Good”. -
Czech Republic: Thirty-Six Hour Vigil at the Chinese Embassy in Prague Marks Five Years of Persecution Against Falun Gong in China
2004-08-14July the 20th 2004 marked exactly five years since the Chinese regime, then under the leadership of Jiang Zemin, began a systematic persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Practitioners from the Czech Republic marked this date with a peaceful thirty-six hour vigil of meditation and exercises in front of the Chinese Embassy in Prague. -
Interview with a Non-Practitioner During the Recent Events in Edinburgh
2004-08-14Shaun is broadcasting student. At the beginning of August, he had the opportunity to gain experience filming the Military Tattoo and Cavalcade in Edinburgh. Falun Gong practitioners had also taken the opportunity of the events in Edinburgh to join the famous Cavalcade, wining first prize in the Community category for the third year running. A friend of Shaun's practises Falun Gong, so Shaun stayed with him and some other practitioners during his time in Edinburgh. -

2004-08-14According to the World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), in June 1999, under Zhao's supervision, staff from Wuhan TV Station went to Changchun, the hometown of Falun Gong's founder Li Hongzhi, and produced a film about Mr. Li. The film was later used as a tool to convince CCP leaders to persecute Falun Gong. The film has been the main propaganda tool used repeatedly by state-owned media to brainwash the Chinese people. -

Hungary: Peaceful Appeal at the Chinese Embassy in Budapest
2004-08-13Practitioners from Sweden, Australia and Taiwan went to Budapest, the capital of Hungary, on the 21st and 22nd of June. A peaceful appeal was held outside the Chinese Embassy in Budapest. Leaflets were given out to passers-by. The Hungarian people were very supportive and one man said loudly to us, “My heart is with you!” -
Radio Free Asia: Falun Gong practitioners in Athens Demand that China Improves Its Human Rights Situation
2004-08-13According to RFA’s report, two Greek Falun Gong practitioners have already sued three Chinese officials, including former Chinese President Jiang Zemin and the former Chinese Vice-President Li Lanqing, accusing them of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong’s lawyer says that they demand the Athens judiciary gives orders to arrest the three officials if they set foot in Athens to watch the Olympic Games. -

2004-08-13A battered woman with large gashes in her leg crouches inside a small cage on the corner of 8th Avenue and 42nd Street. The woman's name is Nelly Au who is a practitioner of Falun Gong, or Falun Dafa, a meditation practice that was outlawed in China in 1999. As well as many local Greek people, many Chinese have come to watch the tranquil and gentle exercises of Falun Gong and have got to know more about the peaceful nature of the practice.
