Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Judge Obstructs Lawyers' Attempts to Defend Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Li Zhigang

The Nangang District Court in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province held a trial for Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Zhigang at 9:00 a.m. on June 22nd, 2009. The judge, Song Chengzhang, resorted to bullying methods to obstruct lawyers in every possible way from defending Mr. Li. The judge denied the lawyers' right to speak with the accused and review the case records. This is a blatant disregard for the law by those who should be enforcing the law. -
Chengdu City, Sichuan Province Practitioner Ms. Na Zhiping Is Tortured to the Verge of Death

On April 27th, 2009, while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong, Ms. Na Zhiping was arrested by police. Ms. Na is now in critical condition as a result of torture and is being held in in the Xinhua Community Hospital. Because the police did not want to shoulder the responsibility, they agreed to let her children visit her. Ms. Na was lying in bed, each hand cuffed to a bedpost and with shackles weighing over 60 pounds attached to her feet. The sight was unbearable. -
Mr. Liu Ji's Family Persecuted in Yongji County, Jilin Province
2009-07-13At 4:00 a.m. one day in April 2009, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Ji and his son Liu Fengyu were arrested at home and taken to Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp in Jiutai City in Jilin Province by police. Previously, in December 2008, police broke into Mr. Liu's home, confiscated Falun Gong books and leaflets exposing the persecution and arrested him. He was taken to a detention centre and his family had to pay 20,000 yuan for his release after 20 days. -
Arrested and Detained for Two Months, Housewife from Hebei Province Holds Hunger Strike to Protest the Persecution
2009-07-13Ms. Kang Lanying, a Falun Gong practitioner, has been detained in the city detention centre for over two months. To protest the mistreatment by guards, Ms. Kang has been holding a hunger strike. During the hunger strike, the guards handcuffed her behind her back and stuck a tube down her nose into her stomach, which caused massive bleeding through her nose. Ms. Kang is very weak and very skinny. Due to force-feeding through a tube, her neck has been injured and spurts blood. Her condition is very serious. -
Two Practitioners Arrested by Yudong Public Security Bureau Officials, Ba'nan District, Chongqing City
2009-07-13Ms. Liu Tianling, over 50 years old, disappeared while travelling to her home town in Yudong on June 4th. On the morning of June 8th, a policewoman from the Yudong Detention Centre called Ms. Liu's family, verified Ms. Liu's phone number, and asked about Ms. Liu's travel plans to her home town. After confirming each question, she asked Ms. Liu's family to send her clothes to the detention centre. She also asked the family if they knew the identity of a disabled lady who accompanied Ms. Liu. On June 10th, Ms. Liu's home was ransacked by police from the State Security Bureau of Yudong. -
Ms. Zhang Shengrong Missing for a Month and Half, Nobody Is Looking after Her Disabled Son
2009-07-13Ms. Zhang Shengrong has been missing since early May 2009. A month and a half has passed and there is still no word of her whereabouts. Ms. Zhang, who is over 70 years old, was persecuted severely by the Jinyang Comprehensive Administration Office in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, after she hired a lawyer. Reports say that Ms. Zhang was taken to a brainwashing centre by the Jinyang Comprehensive Administration Office, but there were no specific details. Because she has been missing for so long, her son, Tao Yuan, who was detained in Guangyuan Prison and tortured so badly that his spine was dislocated, has had no one to look after him. It is not known what his situation is. -
Ms. Sun Min Died in Police Custody, Police Fabricate Post mortem Examination Cover up
2009-07-12On April 22nd, 2009, Mr. Wu Yang and his wife, Ms. Sun Min were distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Beijing. The couple was taken to the Niujie District Police Station. On April 28th, the Fengtai Police Department sent Ms. Sun Min's family a "Death Notice" which stated that on April 23rd, Sun Min was found dead as a result of falling from a height. However when the family saw her body she had a wound on her forehead that looked like it was caused by teeth of an electric torture device affixed to the head. She also had other evidence of torture marks on her body. The so-called Post mortem Examination Report appears to be falsified. -
The Persecution in Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp, Zizhong County, Sichuan Province
2009-07-12Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Nengmin has been isolated and handcuffed to a bed for six months. Some of the drug addicts take turns watching her at all times and she is beaten every day. Ms. Zhang has reportedly suffered an ear injury as a result of their beatings. A prisoner has written abusive and humiliating slogans on Ms. Zhang's belly, breasts, and lower body. Ms. Zhang is developing a mental disorder, and is suffering from incontinence. -
The Persecution of a Falun Gong Practitioner in Dalian City
2009-07-12After Jiang Zemin's [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] regime and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dalian City was forced to leave his job which he had held for several decades. After 1999 he was severely tortured at the Dalian Forced Labour Camp. In 2008 officers from Zhanqing Police Station and the Jinzhou District Police Department arrested him at his home and he was sentenced to one year of forced labour. During his lengthy detentions, his family led a difficult life and suffered severe financial hardship. -
Assistant Battalion Commander from Langfang City Is Persecuted for Practising Falun Gong
2009-07-12Mr. Li Baowei is a 46-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. He was an assistant Battalion Commander while in the military. In 2000, police ransacked his home. They took away his Falun Gong books, arrested him, and took him to a detention centre. Without any reason or due process, he was sentenced to three years in Hehuakeng Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City. In the camp, he was persecuted physically and mentally. He was slapped in the face, forced to sit on a bed for a long time, forced to perform difficult work, and brainwashed. -
The Persecution that My Father Has Suffered
2009-07-11On July 16th, 2008, before the Beijing Olympic Games, my father Zhang Xingwu was sent to a detention centre, and in the next nearly twelve months, no family member has been allowed to visit him. On March 31st, 2009, my father was put on trial. My mother and family members engaged a lawyer and after much difficulty were given a date for a public trial. On that morning, my mother and other relatives, who were setting off to go to the courthouse, were put under house arrest and were not allowed to attend the court session, and even the lawyer was not allowed to enter the courthouse. -
Seven Years of Injustice -- Mr. Fan Qingjun Severely Persecuted in Jidong Prison
2009-07-11Because he believes in Falun Gong, Mr. Fan Qingjun, 40, was arrested and held in the Xushui County Detention Centre in September 2002. In October 2003, he was sentenced to seven years imprisonment and sent to the Jidong Jail, where he has been severely persecuted for the past seven years. Policeman He Xiaoqiang has instigated prisoners to physically assault and abuse Mr. Fan many times. In April 2004, Mr. Fan was immersed in a very cold pond for the whole day. They have also deprived him of sleep and purposefully harmed him. -
Practitioners Persecuted Over a Two-Year Period in Huaiyang County, Henan Province
2009-07-11Ms. Li Yuzhi went to the Domestic Security Division to see her father, who was in detention. She met Cheng Weifeng, who asked whether she also practised Falun Gong. She said that she did. Then, three police officers, beat her and used a cloth to cover her face. When she asked why she had been beaten, they said, "We are paid two thousand yuan by the government to beat you. If you had died, it would have been treated as suicide." Then they put her into a car, covered her mouth to prevent her from speaking, and went to ransack her home. After returning to the second floor of the Domestic Security Division, she was beaten again. They pushed needles into her toenails and she fainted. She did not wake up until 6 p.m., when she found herself lying on the floor. -
The Persecution of Liu Yongfen and Her Family in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province
2009-07-11Practitioner Liu Yongfen, 59, and her family live in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province. The relationship between Ms. Liu and her husband used to be very bad. They quarrelled a lot, and were infamous for their acrimonious relationship. After they began practising Falun Gong they both followed Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and became good people. They looked inward when conflicts arose and never fought again. However, they have been arrested and jailed several times because of their belief in Falun Gong. Among the family of four, one has died, one is forced to stay away from home, one was released for medical treatment, and the fourth is still in prison. -
Mr. Lu Zhen Dies in Custody in Shandong Province Prison
2009-07-10Mr. Lu Zhen, 33, was arrested in early March 2004 and was subjected to numerous tortures in brainwashing sessions. The forced labour camp rejected him because he did not pass the health check-up. In December 2004, he was sentenced to eleven years in prison and sent to the Shandong Province Prison. Recently, the Linyi and Mengyin 610 Office spread rumours that Mr. Lu Zhen had mental problems, but they never officially notified his family. He had been brutally abused in prison because he firmly persisted in practising Falun Gong. On June 22nd, 2009, his family was notified that Mr. Lu suddenly died in the early morning of June 22nd, from heart disease. There are several obvious bruises on his neck and hip areas.
