  • Ms. Guan Hua Severely Tortured by Wanjia Forced Labour Camp Guards

    On February 1st, 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guan Hua was sentenced to one year and six months of "re-education" through forced labour in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp. The guards attempted to force the practitioners to take a so-called test. The guards decided that Ms. Guan failed her "examination," so they forced her to stand on a stool, then pulled both hands behind her back. A guard tied her hands with one end of a rope, then passed the another end through a heating pipe above a window, while two other guards pulled forcefully on the rope. Ms. Guan then hung helplessly in the air. In order to cover up their torture activities, guard Jiang Tao used adhesive tape to cover Ms. Guan's mouth.
  • Mr. Liang Yuncheng Tortured to Near Blindness; Family Members Are Not Allowed to Visit

    Mr. Liang Yuncheng, 42, a resident from Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province, was arrested for practising Falun Gong. He was detained for more than three months and tortured to near blindness. Recently, the director of the Fengcheng Detention Centre called Mr. Liang's brother and told him that Mr. Liang needed a defence lawyer for his upcoming trial. When Mr. Liang's brother went to the detention centre to find out more about the case, the guards would not let him in the building.
  • Shijiazhuang Prison Refuses to Release Mr. Li Feng, in Critical Condition

    Mr. Li Feng is imprisoned at the Fourth Prison of Shijiazhuang City. He is in critical condition, but the prison administration refuses to release him to get medical help. Mr. Li developed many severe illnesses as a result of persecution after he was imprisoned in 2002. In 2005, he was in a coma for 14 hours after he was forced to work under 113 degree Fahrenheit conditions in a tube factory. By June 2nd, 2009, Mr. Li had high blood pressure. He also suffers from uncontrollable vomiting. Mr. Li is in critical condition yet the prison refuses to release him.
  • Mr. Xu Dawei Cruelly Tortured in Prison Before He Died at Age 34

    Mr. Xu Dawei, 34, was from Qingyuan County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. Mr. Xu was persecuted for eight years by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials in four prisons. Mr. Xu was tortured in a number of ways: violent brainwashing, being forced to wear handcuffs and shackles for extensive periods of time, brutal beatings, being hung up, force-feeding, being beaten with a rubber hose, being pierced with a steel needle more than 10 cm long, and electric baton shocks. Just 13 days after returning home, on February 16th, 2009, Mr. Xu died.

    On September 25th, 2008, when Ms. Zhao Guiqin was doing housework at home, police arrested and detained her at the Donggang Detention Centre. On December 12th, 2008, Ms. Zhao was secretly sentenced to three-and-a-half years imprisonment by the public security and procuratorate authorities and the people's court. At present, Ms. Zhao can no longer walk due to the brutal torture, but the Donggang Procuratorial Judicial and Public Security Committee refuses to release her.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Liu Nailun from Mengyin County, Shandong Province Suffers Years of Persecution

    Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, the County 610 Office agents detained Mr. Liu Nailun, 40, in brainwashing centres twice, four months in all. He eventually served three years in a forced labour camp, followed by a four-year prison sentence. His wife was forced to divorce him. Liu Nailun did not give up his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance during his four-year prison term and returned home with his head held high. He lost all of his possessions. He has found a menial job and lives a hard life.
  • Practitioners Viciously Beaten and Tortured in Laizhou City Domestic Security Division in Shandong Province

    On August 8th, 2008, Laizhou City police scaled the wall of the place where I was staying and arrested me and took me to Dianzi Brainwashing Centre. During the 12-day detention in the brainwashing centre, there were eight days when I was hung up [by handcuffed wrists] and deprived of sleep. Because my arms were cuffed for so long, I couldn't move them at all after I was finally let down. My legs and feet were swollen to the point that I couldn't wear my shoes. My hands had no feeling and I couldn't straighten my fingers. Now that seven months have passed, I still have numbness in my hands, and my ears sometimes ring. My left arm still hurts and I can't move it very quickly.
  • Ms. Yuan Shuzhe Tortured at Twelfth Police Station in Tiexi District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province

    On February 19th, 2005, police arrested Ms. Yuan Shuzhe in front of the Shijilianhua Market. At he police station, Ms. Yuan's hands were handcuffed behind her back. They stepped on her to make her squat. Then the short torturer squatted before her, and while holding her chin, asked, "Are you Yuan Shuzhe?" She would not answer. They repeatedly struck her head with full water bottles for a time until the short torturer asked again, "Are you Yuan Shuzhe?" Still, she did not answer. All three of the torturers beat her head. The two tall torturers stretched her arms upward as far as they could, inserted a needle into the tip of her right middle finger until it was about halfway in, then he turned the needle and pulled it out.
  • Ms. Sun Min Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances While Her Husband Is Arrested

    Mr. Wu Yang and his wife Ms. Sun Min went to Beijing to avoid being harassed and persecuted by their local Chinese Communist Party officials. On April 22nd, Mr. Wu Yang was distributing Falun Gong DVDs and was arrested. On April 28th, police sent Ms. Sun Min's family a "Death Notice" which stated: "On April 23rd, Sun Min was found dead as a result of falling from a height." However, Ms. Sun's family found marks of torture on her body, head, shoulder, neck, wrists and hands.
  • 65-Year-old Woman Persecuted Numerous Times and Now Unable to Return Home

    Ms. Xiang Maohua, 65, is a Falun Gong practitioner who lived in Sichuan Province. During the past ten years, the police pursued and later arrested and detained her five times. She recounts: "The fourth time I was arrested, police slapped me in the face and grabbed my hair and knocked my head against a wall. They also forced me to stand for long periods of time. For twelve days in a row, they subjected me to various tortures, non-stop. My blood pressure suddenly shot up to 180 over 220 and I spat out blood... I was in grave danger."
  • Xiong Wende of Yingcheng City, Hubei Province, Homeless as a Result of the Persecution

    Mr. Xiong Wende was persecuted many times while in prison and in a mental hospital over the past few years. In October 2007, police arrested Xiong Wende. They took him to the Tangxunhu Brainwashing Centre in Wuhan City. Because Mr. Xiong refused to sell out his fellow practitioners, a director named Gong got very angry, grabbed Mr. Xiong's collar, and pulled him off his chair. He slapped him with both hands. In July 2008, police picked the lock on Xiong Wende's home. For about two hours they searched all over, confiscating many of his private belongings. Mr. Xiong was then arrested by the Public Security Bureau. He escaped after two days and is still unable to go home.
  • A Practitioner from Holland: "Beijing National Security Police Unjustly Interrogated Me"

    I work for a famous Dutch travel agency as a tour leader and have guided tourists in China for 18 years. In the second half of April 2009, while leading a tour group in China, I was arrested and interrogated by officers with Beijing's National Security force. On May 11th, after I took a tourist group to the airport, I went back to my hotel. At about 3 p.m., someone knocked on my door. It was hotel security. They told me that the police wanted to ask me some questions. I tried to close the door immediately, but they pushed their way in and arrested me.
  • More Information on Mr. Xie Deqing's Death in Chengdu City

    Mr. Xie Deqing was a healthy and energetic person. After twenty days of detention in the Xinjin Brainwashing Facility at the Chengdu Law Study Centre, how did he become only skin and bones? He became incontinent and was not able to eat or drink. He also had serious symptoms of angina pectoris and was unconscious much of the time. What happened at the brainwashing facility? What kind of persecution had Mr. Xie been subjected to? Before Mr. Xie passed away on May 29th, he told his family with great difficulty, "At the Xinjin Brainwashing Facility when I was taken to a hospital for a physical examination, I was injected with unknown drugs. I was barely able to eat or drink anything for the next ten days."
  • Mr. Zhu Hongbing Dies after Seven Years in Prison

    Mr. Zhu Hongbing was sentenced to seven years in the Hongweixing Prison in Daqing City at the end of 2001. He refused to be brainwashed or wear the prisoner uniform, and was tortured brutally as a result. Mr. Zhu's term was to end by December 2008, but the prison administration refused to release him. Mr. Zhu went on a hunger strike until his life was endangered. Four people carried him out of the prison on December 29th, 2008. His family picked him up and took him to the hospital. His lungs had shrunk to the size of eggs. Mr. Zhu survived for six months in extreme pain and died on June 18th, 2009.
  • Mr. Liu Hongxiang Dies as Result of Persecution

    Mr. Liu Hongxiang, 34, was sentenced to three years of forced labour in 2000. The police sentenced Mr. Liu to another three years of forced labour in July 2004. In April 2009, his family took him to Shandong Province Tuberculosis Hospital and spent a large amount of money, but in vain. His liver and stomach were both ruined by the strong medication. He died early in the morning on June 20th, 2009.
