  • Mr. Wu Shanhai of Wuhan City, Hubei Province Died as a Result of Torture

    Mr. Wu Shanhai was an elderly practitioner. Because he persisted in practising Falun Gong, as well as explaining the facts about Falun Gong, he was incarcerated and tortured. On July 10th, 2007, Wu was exchanging experiences with a few practitioners in a park. He was followed by local police officers and once again arrested and taken to the police station on the grounds of "gathering to overthrow the government" and "colluding with overseas anti-China forces." Three days later, the police ordered his family members to fetch him. At that time, Wu Shanhai's body was extremely weak and he could not eat. He had been tortured until he was on the brink of death. One week later, he passed away.
  • Ms. Li Bo and Mr. Li Daiquan Died as a Result of the Persecution

    Mr. Li Daiquan, 56 years old, from the Nanpiao District went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, and March 13th, 2000. In the evening on June 24th, 2001, he was arrested by the Shaguotun Township Police Station for writing "Falun Gong is good" and locked up in a detention centre. As a result, he was physically and mentally abused. After being released from the detention centre, he wandered around to avoid being arrested again. He was sent home in November 2003 after suffering a stroke. He passed away on March 20th, 2009.
  • The Relentless Abuse Mr. Li Min Suffered Before He Died as a Result of Torture

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Min was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2005. While imprisoned, he was regularly tortured in Ward 7 of Daqing Prison, and his health deteriorated dramatically, causing symptoms of a stroke. In April 2009 his family members, who were there visiting him, asked that he be released for medical treatment, but the request was denied by the prison officials. Mr. Li died on May 23rd.
  • Wu Guanzheng is Among the Worst Offenders in the Persecution of Falun Gong

    Wu Guanzheng, who was the Shandong Province CCP Secretary and Political Bureau member, was assigned the responsibility of initiating the persecution of Falun Gong in Shandong Province. Wu Guanzheng committed uncountable crimes against Falun Gong. The number of practitioners killed in Shandong exceeds the numbers killed in other areas. The numbers of practitioners suffering in Shandong's forced labour camps and prisons are the highest in the nation. He is among the worst offenders in the persecution of practitioners.
  • Siping Prison Inmates Beat Practitioner to Death Under the Connivance of Prison Guards

    Mr. Dong Fengshan was sent to Siping Prison in October 2008 to undergo "transformation" because he persevered in practising Falun Gong. Five prison inmates beat Mr. Dong for a total of two hours, under the connivance of prison guards. They used special leather whips that made noises so loud that the whole prison could hear them. Mr. Dong was a steadfast practitioner who did not utter a word and simply silently chanted "Falun Gong is good" while being beaten. Mr. Dong was so badly injured that he died the next day.
  • Ms. Long Lihong from Hunan Province Harmed in Baimalong Forced Labour Camp, Zhuzhou City

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Long Lihong was hoodwinked by the Lanshan police in 2008 and incarcerated at the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou City because she practises Falun Gong. She was subjected to one year of forced labour. During the first three months at the forced labour camp, those in charge used every imaginable means in an attempt to "transform" her, simply for the sake of monetary gains and promotions. They promised two drug addict inmates that their terms would be shortened if they monitored Ms. Long around the clock. One inmate forced her to watch videos that slandered and defamed Falun Gong. At night, they deprived her of sleep and tried to brainwash her to give up Falun Gong.
  • Zhang Min in Huaihua City of Hunan Province Was Persecuted During the Beijing Olympic Games

    On May 22nd, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Min was arrested by police and her home ransacked. Ms. Zhang was taken to the Huaihua Brainwashing Centre. In the brainwashing centre, she was forced to write the three statements to give up Falun Gong. After being detained for a month, the 610 Office staff extorted 15,000 Yuan from Zhang's husband as a "guarantee deposit" and demanded that he sign a guarantee statement before he could take his wife back home. After Zhang was released, she was still closely monitored and harassed by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members at her work place.
  • Police in Baoshan District, Shanghai Arrest and Gag Innocent People with Plastic Bags

    On April 25th, 2009, several police broke into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qian Yuhua's home, held her to the ground and handcuffed her. Her daughter-in-law held on to her mother-in-law to prevent her from being taken away. The police grabbed her barbarically, then handcuffed and arrested her daughter-in-law. The police were afraid that the neighbours might be alarmed if the two women protested the arrest loudly, so they covered their mouths with plastic bags, making it difficult for them to breathe. Ms. Qian Yuhua was taken to the Baoshan District Detention Centre.
  • Two Female Farmers in Shandong Province Wrongfully Sent to Forced Labour Camp

    On January 2nd, 2009, Ms. Jiang Xiumei and Ms. Cui Xiuhua, two farmers from Laixi City, Shandong Province, were arrested and sentenced to a forced labour camp for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Because Jiang Xiumei is nearly seventy, the labour camp refused to take her. Cui Xiuhua however, is being tortured in the labour camp. After Ms. Cui Xiuhua was arrested, the police would not allow her family to visit, nor did they tell them her whereabouts. They even extorted over two hundred yuan from her family.
  • Mr. Shi Xiaochun, Practitioner from Heilongjiang Province, Sentenced to Forced Labour Five Times

    On April 10th, 2008, officers from the Qianjin Police Station in Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province broke into 48-year-old Mr. Shi Xiaochun's home. They ransacked his home and arrested him. On May 21st, 2008, his family received notice of his sentence of forced labour. He was sent to the Suihua Forced Labour Camp on the same day. Mr. Shi has suffered through many periods of detention and various torture methods since the persecution of Falun Gong began. This has left his family in turmoil as well.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Chen Changyuan Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

    While distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong, Mr. Chen Changyuan was seized by police in July 2008. On April 29th 2009, Mr. Chen was sentenced to three years in prison by the Chengdu Gaoxin District Court in Sichuan Province. Only three family members were allowed in the courtroom. During the trial, the judge frequently interrupted the defence lawyer and his client's statements. Furthermore, Mr. Chen's wife was not allowed to speak. The situation was so unjust that she decided to leave the courtroom. After Mr. Chen was sentenced to three years of imprisonment, he indicated that he would appeal the ruling.
  • Family of a Nine-Year-Old Girl Is Torn Apart

    Haihui, a 9-year-old girl, used to have a happy family, but this family has been torn apart as a result of the persecution of Falun Gong. Both of Haihui's parents practise Falun Gong. On August 16th, 2008, five policemen took away her father Guo Jian. In September, police came again and took away her mother. As a result, Haihui has to stay with her elderly grandma, and they are both barely getting by with great difficulty.
  • Three Children Left to Fend for Themselves with Mother Detained and Father Driven Mad

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wei Lianhua was arrested by the police in 2008 while she was making leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Baodi District. She is currently being detained in the Tianjin Women Prison. Wei Lianhua's husband has met with great difficulties since his wife suffered this persecution. Due to the pressure of making a living for himself and his three children, he had to ask the local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials to return the 8,000 yuan they had borrowed from him and had not repaid for several years. However, the local officials refused, claiming they did not have the funds. suffering a nervous breakdown, with his wife in jail and unable to support his family. The three children have to now fend for themselves.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Tried by Jinshantun Court in Yichun City

    On December 1st, 2008, three practitioners were arrested by police for possessing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Police also ransacked their homes and interrogated them, attempting to extort confessions. During the interrogation, Mr. Zhang Peixun lost consciousness twice due to brutal beatings. Their families hired six lawyers to defend these innocent practitioners. After six months of detention, the three practitioners were brought to trial at Jinshantun Court. Bystanders outside the court remarked, "Even a murder trial is not as heavily guarded as this!" The dossier presented by the prosecution was unknown to the defence lawyers, who protested, "This is against the law."
  • The Persecution of Ms. Lei Xinlian Over the Past Ten Years

    Ms. Lei Xinlian, 58, went to Beijing to appeal to the government for the right to practise Falun Gong in 2000. Since she has suffered repeated persecution by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents. In July 2001, Ms. Lei was taken by police officers to the Zizhong Nanmusi Women's Prison in Sichuan for a two-year prison term. There, she was forced to kneel down for a long time, deprived of sleep, had her face slapped and was beaten. Since July 20th, 1999 and up to now, Ms. Lei's home has been ransacked frequently for two years and she was detained for a total of five years. She was homeless for about four and a half years. Her husband was detained for two months, and was homeless for nine years.
