  • Chongqing Practitioner Ms. Wang Yan Persecuted

    Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officers found out that Ms. Wang Yan, 33, had delivered Falun Gong articles to fellow practitioners, so she was arrested and interrogated and later sent to a brainwashing centre. In December 2000, Ms. Wang Yan was sentenced to four years because she and other practitioners made and hung banners exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. In October 2001, a guard tortured her for a week by handcuffing her with one leg between her arms. She appealed for justice to the court, but the CCP officers refused her appeal. In 2004 Ms. Wang was dismissed from her job. She later left home to avoid further persecution.
  • 610 Office in Huaian City, Jiangsu Province Arrests Another Nurse for Practising Falun Gong

    On May 23rd, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Ling was arrested and detained at the Huaian City Detention Centre. According to sources, Zhou Ling has already been sentenced to one-year of forced labour. Before Ms. Zhou's arrest, Falun Gong practitioner Hu Yunqin, another nurse in-charge at the Huaian City Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital, was arrested on April 15th from her work place. Hu Yunqin was brutally tortured, both physically and mentally, and she still suffers from extreme pain, even after being released. Her left eye was beaten badly, causing bleeding and vision blurring.
  • Ms. Yu Zhiying from Ningpo City Arrested and Facing Sentencing

    On May 18th, 2008, Ms. Yu Zhiying, a Falun Gong practitioner, was reported to the authorities as she distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong at a food market. She was then once again arrested by the Zhenhai police and imprisoned. She will likely face sentencing. Meanwhile, her daughter in junior high school and her husband who had previously been poisoned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are now facing harassment and confiscation of the family's property. Previously, her husband had submitted Falun Gong books and leaflets to the court, which provided so-called "evidence" for Ms. Yu to Moganshan Forced Labour Camp for one and a half years.
  • Practitioners who Consoled Earthquake Victims are Mercilessly Beaten, Robbed and Arrested by Police Officers in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province

    Practitioner Ms. He Meixian and her family have been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) due to their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance since 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong began. Ms. He's family members have been beaten to death by police, her home has been decimated, and her life made extremely difficult due to the persecution. Prior to the large earthquake in Sichuan Province, there was an earthquake in Pan County, Guizhou Province, in early May 2008. This earthquake damaged Ms. He Meixians house. After this news got out, practitioners in Guiyang City went to visit her at her temporary home. They were all arrested by police.
  • Ms. Xu Na, Wife of a Musician Killed By the CCP, Transferred to Another Detention Centre in Beijing

    In early May 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Na was transferred to Chongwen District Detention Centre in Beijing. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials filed her case through the Procuratorate, and are ready to put her on trial. Xu's family has hired a lawyer to defend her. We have learned that the police did not find any evidence for their show-trial in Ms. Xu's home, nor did they find any in her vehicle. Under normal circumstances, she should be released. The CCP was worried that she would protest her husband's death by torture, so they transferred her and arranged to put her on trial.
  • Practitioners Hu Ruirong and Lei Yunqun, Husband and Wife from Hengyang City, Hunan Province, Repeatedly Arrested

    Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wu Ruirong and Ms. Lei Yingqun, husband and wife, were arrested by the police at 11:30 a.m. on May 24th, 2008 as they were working in a bridal studio in Hengyang City. The police ransacked their residence and used the pretext of "having found six pieces of evidence" as reason to hold them. On March 13th, 2002, Hengyang City Police Department agents detained Wu Ruirong for an unnamed crime and later incarcerated him at the Kaipu Forced Labour Camp in Changsha for two years. The family has suffered greatly due to the persecution.
  • Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Personnel in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province Arrest and Torture Ten Practitioners

    On April 11th, practitioner Mr. Zhang Hejun had already been detained and persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for a year. He was arrested again and was taken back to Zhuzhou City. The party members hung him by his wrists and poured pepper juice on him. Mr. Zhang is now deaf in his right ear, his right hand is numb, and his right foot is fractured. The police officers also threatened to beat him to the point of mental collapse.
  • The People Responsible for the Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Gu Qun, from Dalian City, Liaoning Province

    While distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, practitioner Mr. Gu Qun was arrested on March 16th, 2008 by police. The next day he was moved to Yaojia Detention Centre in Dalian City. Mr Gu started a hunger strike in protest and suffered brutal force-feeding by the police. His body was severely damaged. On April 8th, the police sent Mr. Gu to the Third People's Hospital. In fact what they sent was his dead body, hoping to shift their responsibility onto the hospital.
  • Exposing the Crimes Committed in the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    From May 9th, the Masanjia Labour Camp engaged in the so-called "Double-hundred Strike Hard Order," which will last until October. The guards planned to intensify the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners during this period of time. Practitioners have to finish their hard-labour assignments on schedule, otherwise, they will be beaten, or their prison terms will be extended. Li Mingyu instigated someone surnamed Chen to beat up practitioners who didn't finish their assignments. She also threatened, "Those who don't finish their task on time will taste my electric baton." The head of the team often helped the guards do the beating. In order to coerce detainees to make money for them, the guards in Masanjia would do anything to persecute them.
  • Details of the Persecution of Older Practitioner Ms. Qiu Xiu'e from Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province

    Ms. Qiu Xiu'e is a 56-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. She has been arrested and detained several times since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. On February 3rd, 2004, Ms. Qiu was sentenced to a three-year jail term. She appealed and went on a hunger strike to protest this unjust sentence. As a result, both her hands and feet were handcuffed, and she was tied on a bed so that she could not move and later lost control of her bladder. On February 24th, she was tortured in Zhejiang Women's Prison. She was not allowed to sleep if she did not write the guarantee statement declaring that she gave up Falun Gong. She was personally monitored and forcibly brainwashed. Until May of 2008, officials withheld part of her pension for the time of her detention.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Hu Qiuxia in Jinzhou City Over the Past Nine Years

    Ms. Hu Qiuxia is a practitioner from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. Simply because she practises Falun Gong, she had been arrested five times and has been sentenced to forced labour once. Since the summer of 2002, she had to live away from home to avoid persecution. Her home was ransacked many times by the police and her husband lived in fear and was under continuous pressure from the police. He suffered illness as a result and passed away in October of 2007.
  • Three Older Practitioners Died As a Result of Persecution in Jining City, Shandong Province

    Ms. Liu Yuelan, 73, went to Beijing many times to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested in Beijing and tortured with handcuffs, brutal force-feeding, and was burned with cigarettes. She was also detained by the local police many times. Officers at the Nan'guan Station forced her to kneel down for more than two hours with her arms tied behind her back. She was forced to leave her home to avoid being arrested but was then arrested in the spring of 2001 by officers from the Liangshan County Police Department. She was in a forced labour camp for more than a year. She died on February 22nd, 2008.
  • Practitioners Shocked with High-Voltage Batons in Panjin Men's Prison, Liaoning Province

    The First Division of Panjin Prison in Liaoning Province is detaining 13 Falun Gong practitioners. On April 1st and 3rd, 2008, Chief Zhang Guolin called one practitioner at a time to an interrogation room with a dozen electric batons. The voltage of those batons ranges from 300,000 to 900,000 volts. Zhang Guolin and forced the practitioners to work, claiming they were being "reformed through labour". If a practitioner refused several guards handcuffed the practitioner and pushed him down on the ground. Every guard held two batons and stepped on the victim. The guards shocked the practitioner's body simultaneously with seven or eight electric batons, especially on the head, neck, chest, back, palms, soles, and inner thighs. The guards stabbed some practitioners with electric needles and passed a current through the needles.
  • Two Sisters and a Daughter Imprisoned for Six Years

    On July 8th, 2002, police from Shuangcheng Town, Heilongjiang Province ransacked practitioner Ms. Yan Shufen's home. They arrested her, her younger sister Yan Shuhua, and her daughter Wang Lili. Seven months later, in February 2003, the three practitioners were sentenced to 15 years, 14 years and 13 years in jail respectively. They have been in jail for five years and their family members have been deprived of the right to see them.
  • Ms. Zhang Xiulan from Xining City, Qinghai Province, Arrested

    On May 13th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Xiulan, in her 50s, her sister, Ms. Zhang Xiuchun, and four other people, including their parents, were arrested by police officers from Chaoyang Police Station after the officers broke into their home. Ms. Zhang Xiulan is still detained in the Ershilipu Detention Centre but the others have been released. The officers ransacked the homes of Ms. Zhang Xiulan, Ms. Zhang Xiuchun, and Ms. Xiao Ruan and stole personal items.
