Ms. Wu Yinfeng Constantly Persecuted by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Officials in Gansu Province

Thirty-seven-year-old farmer Ms. Wu Yinfeng has been constantly persecuted by the local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) organizations and the police in recent years because she practises Falun Gong. On June 2nd, Ms. Wu Yinfeng was sentenced to three years of forced labour and was detained at the Liugouhe Women's Forced Labour Camp in Lanzhou City. The prison guard Dai Wenqin and Division Leader Fan Yirong gave Ms. Wu injections, infusions and unknown drugs. Ms. Wu had terrible cramping afterwards and curled up in pain. She lost consciousness twice and was extremely weak. The forced labour camp only released her when she was critically ill, on June 5th. -
Jiang Yong Tortured with Six Electric Batons at Shanghai'sTilanqiao Prison
2009-01-18Mr. Jiang Yong from Shanghai City, while detained at the Tilanqiao Prison, was recently tortured by six guards, each using an electric baton. The beatings burned large areas of his skin, causing much bleeding. At one point, Fan Zhenqun, the deputy captain of the sixth ward even said, "Electric shock therapy is better than medical therapy." One of the prison guards, Xu Meng electric shocked and beat Mr. Jiang while asking others to measure Mr. Jiang's blood pressure, fearing that he might die of the torture. Mr. Jiang became unconscious at times, but whenever he revived, Xu Meng continued to shock and beat him. -
Crimes Committed by the Deyang City Brainwashing Centre in Sichuan Province
2009-01-18In the centre, two personal monitors are assigned to each practitioner around the clock. They report to the centre authorities every word and action the practitioner says or takes. The centre brainwashes these personal monitors as soon as they enter the centre and teaches them how to maintain a close relationship with the practitioners, and how to find out the sources of Falun Gong materials. They also learn how to determine practitioners' weaknesses so that they can be reported. The personal monitors listen to the practitioners, first observing their behaviour to find out who is more steadfast and knows more. They even claim, "We understand that after practising for so long, it is difficult to stop right away. That's why we allow you to practise a little. However, gradually you will stop practising." -
Tianjin Police Torture Ms. Shao Kunhua to Mental Disorder, Then Extort Money from Her Family
2009-01-18Ms. Shao Kunhua, a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested in 2001 when she went to Beijing to appeal. She lost consciousness after the police from Tianjin force-fed her with unknown drugs. She woke up experiencing a mental disorder, and her family members were extorted out of more than 10,000 yuan. A year later, Shao Kunhua slowly recovered from the torture and regained her health by reading Falun Gong books and doing the exercises. -
The Shenyang 610 Office Manipulated the Courts to Give Falun Gong Practitioners Long Sentences
2009-01-18Recently, the Shenyang 610 Office in Liaoning Province manipulated the courts in different districts to give a number of Falun Gong practitioners long sentences. The Shenbei New District Court in Shenyang City sentenced practitioner Ms. Wang Shumei to ten years of imprisonment, Mr. Xi Changhai to eleven years, Mr. Huo Defu to six years, and Mr Sun Yushu to eight years. The Dadong District Court sentenced practitioner Ms. Liu Tingxiu to three years of imprisonment, Ms. Zhang Qinghua to three and half years, Ms. Wu Naiying to four years, Mr. Cong Liang to four and half years, and Ms. Jiao Lianfang to three years. The Tiexi District Court sentenced Ms. Zhao Guiyun to three years. -
Summary Report on Ms. Yang Hailing's Death while in Custody in Heilongjiang Province

Ms. Yang Hailing was again arrested on April 25th, 2002. The police interrogated her at a detention centre. They stabbed her head, body and arms with sewing needles. She went on a hunger strike, so the guards force-fed her mustard oil, which made her cough continuously. On April 12th, 2003, Ms. Yang was tortured to death. -
Older Practitioner Ms. Lei Yugui Dies As a Result of Persecution in Henan Province
2009-01-17Ms. Lei Yugui, who was in her 60s, went to appeal twice for Falun Gong and she was arrested and sent to brainwashing sessions many times. In 2005, agents from the 610 Office and the local police department searched Ms. Lei's home and found Falun Gong materials. The emotional strain caused her to lose consciousness, and she was rushed to hospital. While Ms. Lei was at the hospital, Officer Sang Hu tried to force her to tell who had given her the materials, but she remained silent until her death. -
More Details on Mr. Liu Lianyi's Death as a Result of Persecution
2009-01-17Mr. Liu Lianyi, over 60 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner in Hebei Province. Chinese Communist Party personnel interrogated and beat Mr. Liu Lianyi many times. Personnel in the detention centre utilized criminal inmate Xiaojiang to persecute Mr. Liu. He would say, "The superintendent said, 'Let's see whether Falun Gong or his fists are more powerful.'" Then he would start to beat Mr. Liu. Xiaojiang would then repeat this many times and ask, "Will you still practise?" until he was tired. The beatings continued for more than ten days. On October 1st, 1999, Mr. Liu Lianyi felt great pain in his chest and abdomen. Other practitioners who were detained with him asked for the prison doctor. The doctor came about two hours later, but it was too late. Mr. Liu died on the way to the hospital. -
Ms. Zhao Suzhen from Anguo City of Hebei Province Sentenced to Forced Labour
2009-01-17On December 21st, 2008, officers from the Yaoshi Police Station arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Suzhen when she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. She was detained at the Anguo City Public Security Bureau Detention Centre. After seven days, on December 27th, she was taken to the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp for one year of forced labour. Ms. Zhao had also suffered previous persecution for practising Falun Gong. -
New Chief of Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp Applied Pressure to Intensify the Persecution
2009-01-16Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City is one of the principal camps where the Chinese Communist Party persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. For a long time practitioners have been subjected to inhumane tortures in this camp. Particularly when the new warden, Zheng Yunfeng, arrived, he used "restructuring" as an excuse to apply pressure to all the guards to make them intensify the persecution of practitioners. When the new warden arrived, the forced labour hours were extended, and inmates must now work from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Those that refuse to work or are unable to finish their quotas are labelled "not-reformed" and their jail terms are extended. Practitioners are prohibited from talking arbitrarily or moving about, and they are only allowed to use the toilet at designated times. -
Mr. Liu Yizhi and Ms. Bai Hongzhen in Prison Since October
2009-01-16On the morning of August 6th, 2008, practitioners Mr. Liu Yizhi and Ms. Bai Hongzhen were tried in the Xunyang District Court in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials. When their family members arrived at the court hearing, they were searched. The trial lasted less than an hour, and the families heard no news of a verdict until November 1st. Mr. Liu phoned home to inform his family that he had been secretly sentenced to two years in prison. Ms. Bai was sentenced to five years. -
Mr. Jin Lilin Serving Seven-Year Sentence--Wife Passed Away after Struggling Alone for Years
2009-01-16On the morning of December 22nd, 2008, the wife of Mr. Jin Jilin, a resident of Jinjiaya Village, Yuzhong County, Lanzhou City in Gansu Province, passed away after struggling alone for years, trying to raise their family. The children were severely traumatized by their mother's death, and with the grandmother lying sick in bed, the children have no one to turn to. Those who know the family's situation are moved to tears. In September 2000, police ransacked Mr. Jin's home and arrested him. He was later sentenced to one year of forced labour. In May 2002, he was arrested and detained by police and sentenced to ten years in prison. -
Recounting the Persecution at No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province
2009-01-16The guards at Shandong Province No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp used different methods to persecute practitioners. Some were physically punished by being forced to stand facing a wall from day to night. They were not allowed to move or sleep in order to overtire their minds and bodies. Some guards took advantage of practitioners' kindness to lie to them. Because the practitioners were frightened, they mistook the guards' words and persecutory acts as beneficial to them. Some guards used family, social relations, the threat of divorce or getting fired from a job, and other means to pressure practitioners to make the wrong decision. The guards also used people who had been "transformed" to deceive practitioners with deviated logic. -
Well-known Oil Painter and Falun Gong Practitioner Fan Yiming Still Detained in Beijing

The well-known oil painter, Falun Gong practitioner Fan Yiming is still being detained in Beijing. In August 2008, he was arrested and sent to the Beijing Labour Camp Dispatch Division. According to practitioners who have been held there, this facility is notorious for the police atrocities that take place there. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) used the excuse of getting ready for the Olympics to conduct mass arrests of Falun Gong practitioners throughout 2008 and Fan Yiming was arrested in this round of persecution. -
Elderly Rice Specialist Mr. Yu Liangbin from Heilongjiang Agriculture Science Institute Brutally Beaten in Daqing Prison
2009-01-15Mr. Yu Liangbin is over 70 years old and is a steadfast Falun Gong practitioner. He was arrested in October 2006 in Suihua City, Helongjiang Province. Mr. Yu Liangbin was sentenced to three years in jail in 2007 and is currently in Daqing Prison. Prison authorities have turned down all requests for family visits, using the excuse that Mr. Yu refuses to give up his belief in Falun Gong. In October 2008, he wrote an appeal letter to the provincial procurator's house, but the letter was intercepted by the division head, Li Weinan. Li Weinan was very annoyed after reading the appeal letter. In a fit of anger and for revenge, he viciously hit Mr. Yu in the face with such force that he actually broke many of Mr. Yu's teeth.
