Elderly Practitioner Ms. Zhong Dongqin Imprisoned

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhong Dongqin is 71 years old and from Hengshui City, Hebei Province. She is the elder sister of Mr. Zhong Cunjie, a practitioner who was persecuted to death on February 5th, 2008. On July 24th, 2008, police officers forcibly arrested Ms. Zhong and sent her to the Hengshui City Detention Centre. She is still detained there. Her sister and friends went to the detention centre several times, but have been refused a visit with Ms. Zhong. In the afternoon of October 19th, 2008, Taocheng District Court in Hengshui City wanted to try Ms. Zhong without notifying her family. -
Liaoning Province Practitioner Mr. Xu Dawei Suffered Mental Disorder After Eight Years in Prison

Mr. Xu Dawei, 35, is a practitioner from Fushun City, Liaoning Province. Before he was arrested eight years ago, Mr. Xu was in good health. When he was released on February 3rd, 2009, his hair was grey, his body was covered with scars, he was emaciated, and he had developed a mental disorder. After eight years in prison, Mr. Xu had oedema in his hands and feet. His right knee and ankle had scabs. He had dark purple marks on his buttocks from necrosis. -
Forced into Homelessness for Three Years, Ms. Zhang Fengying is Arrested Upon Returning Home to Look After Her Paralysed Husband
2009-02-25Ms. Zhang Fengying was forced into homelessness for more than three years because she remained steadfast in her practice of Falun Gong and conducted her life according to the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. One day, Ms. Zhang took the risk of returning home to take care of her husband, whose legs had become paralysed. She was arrested at her home on December 1st, 2008 by plain clothes policemen and imprisoned at the Funing County Detention Centre. Since 1999, police have arrested Ms. Zhang, ransacked her home, and subjected her to lengthy brainwashing sessions on numerous occasions, subjecting her to tortures such as the "Tiger Bench", "tying up", and "hung up in a tree". -
Open Letter from Practitioners' Relatives to the United Nations Human Rights Council Condemns Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Atrocities Against Falun Gong
2009-02-24The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) submitted a report on human rights in China to the United Nations. The CCP is trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the international community, just as it has done in the past. It is behaving dishonourably in its use of organizations under its control, including so-called "independent" human rights organizations that cannot operate without its consent. These organizations exist to dupe the intended audience and keep the CCP in power. We, relatives of Falun Gong practitioners in China, who suffer severely under the inhuman persecution meted out by the CCP, wish to testify about the true human rights situation in China. We have witnessed the Party's brutality, witnessed the Party's tyranny, and are privy to the Party's lies and shameless behaviour. -
Ms. Hou Lihua Dies after Being Tortured in Heilongjiang Province
2009-02-24On November 17th, 2008, police arrested Ms. Hou Lihua from her workplace, tortured her until she was near-death. She was released at the end of 2008, but due to so many years of inhuman torture received, she died on February 14th, 2009. During a previous detention Ms. Hou was tied on the "Tiger Chair", her legs were pulled straight and six bricks were added one by one under her feet until they could not add any more. Then they piled a 50 pound shackle on her stomach. More inhumanly, they poured mustard oil in her nose, along with a lit cigarette, and put a plastic bag over her head to suffocate her. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Force-Fed and Drugged in Shandong Women's Forced Labour Camp, Jinan City, Shandong Province
2009-02-24Many Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted in the Shandong Women's Labour Camp in Jinan City, Shandong Province. The prison guards instigated prisoners to put drugs into the food of practitioner Ms. Zhou Chunshu. She was persecuted and labelled as a "psychopath" because of her ability to recite Falun Gong teachings. Some collaborators violently grabbed her hair and a large portion of it was pulled out. They also slammed her head against a wall and injected drugs into her without her consent. On many occasions, several prisoners worked together to beat her and inject and force-feed her drugs by immobilizing her limbs. The long period of torture made her so emaciated that she would fall in and out of consciousness. -
Ye Xiaofen Recounts the Torture She Experienced at a Brainwashing Centre and Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Jianghan District, Wuhan City
2009-02-24On May 8th, 2007, I was reported and arrested for encouraging people to quit the communist party. I was detained in the Women's Detention Centre, and then transferred to a brainwashing centre in Jianghan District, Wuhan City, where I was brutally tortured. A policeman named Qu instigated henchmen to force me to listen to the communist constitution. I told them not to contribute to the persecution of Falun Gong. They would not listen to me. Instead, they pulled me off the bed and kicked me brutally. After three months of torture, my body was thin as a piece of wood. Police carried me to a Drug Rehabilitation Centre to do forced labour for a year. -
My Experiences in the Haikou Brainwashing Centre, Hainan Province
2009-02-23On June 25th, 2008, I was abducted by two policemen who forced me into a squad car and then took me to the Haikou Brainwashing Centre. Collaborators, former practitioners who have turned against Falun Gong under brainwashing and torture and assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners, relentlessly badmouthed Falun Gong, and my practising Falun Gong. To try and force me to give up my cultivation, they yelled in my ear through a megaphone, and they hit my head with Falun Gong books. One person said that I would not be able to get out if I did not give up my belief, and that they would beat me to death and I had no chance of winning the fight. -
The Persecution of Ms. Sun Meifen in Renqiu City, Hebei Province
2009-02-23Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Meifen benefited both physically and mentally after she started to practise Falun Gong. She has been persecuted many times because of her perseverance in Falun Gong practice. She was imprisoned many times. After being cruelly treated in the Gaoyang County Detention Centre for several months, she was sentenced to forced labour for three years and taken to the Baoding City Forced Labour Camp. At about midnight on July 29th, 2008, just before the Beijing Olympics, a dozen people from the local Pubic Security Bureau came in three vehicles and took her away. She suffered inhuman persecution until her life was draining away. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhang Xiulan in Critical Condition at the Jinzhou Detention Centre
2009-02-23Ms. Zhang Xiulan and three other practitioners had masks pulled over their heads when they were arrested in February 2008. Ms. Zhang was then beaten by a group of police officers and mercilessly shocked with an electric baton. She still has scars from the electrical shocks that she received that day. After the officers tortured the four practitioners into confessing a crime that they did not commit, they were taken to a detention centre. Later, Ms. Zhang felt pain in her abdomen and was diagnosed as having an ovarian cyst about four inches in circumference. She also had a tumour on her neck the size of a golf ball. Even though she is in critical condition the police refuse to release her. -
Niu Wanjiang and His Wife from Lanzhou City Have Endured Nine Years of Persecution
2009-02-23Niu Wanjiang was sentenced to three years' imprisonment and spent one year in a forced labour camp. In September 2005, he was taken to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre where he is still undergoing abuse. His wife, Zhang Zhenmin, was arrested on May 3rd, 2005. She was sentenced to eight years in prison and is currently doing forced labour in the Jiuzhou Women's Prison in Lanzhou City. -
Exposing the Murder Committed by Policeman Wang Xianfu in Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province
2009-02-22Policeman Wang Xianfu, 40, beat to death a 60-year-old elderly woman in a factory detention centre in December 2008. On December 8th, Wang led police to break into practitioner Ms. Cao Huiqin's home, where they ransacked it and arrested her. They deprived her of sleep and interrogated her continuously for three days and nights, attempting to force her to give a "confession." Unable to get a "confession" from her, the police shocked Ms. Cao with electric batons all over her body. The high-voltage current went through her heart from the chest to the back, charred her flesh and killed her. -
Yanji City Falun Gong Practitioner Shen Quanhui Brutally Tortured
2009-02-22Mr. Shen Quanhui is a practitioner from Yanji City, Jilin Province. Five months after he was arrested for practising Falun Gong, he told his family members during their only visit that he had been subjected to numerous tortures. When he was detained in Toudao Police Station, Mr. Shen was barbarically beaten by the policemen. They kicked his head, as well as the most vulnerable parts of his body. He was almost killed. His family saw that he had become very emaciated and weak since his arrest. Before being arrested, he was a healthy adult. The family was very worried that he would be subjected to further torture. -
The Persecution Suffered by Ms. Huang Juxiu in the Hunan Women's Prison
2009-02-22Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Huang Juxiu, in her fifties, has been repeatedly persecuted for practising Falun Gong. She hasn't received any pay from her workplace for nine years. In August 2006, Hunan Women's Prison sent Ms Huang to the brainwashing centre in order to force her to renounce Falun Gong. Ms. Huang was not allowed to sleep at all for several days and had to day and night. Ms. Huang was dizzy, nauseated, vomiting, and unable to open her eyes from repeated violent torture. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Qi Shuangyun from Jiamusi City Sentenced to a Six-year Prison Term
2009-02-22In September 2008, the police arrested six practitioners for distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution in Jiamusi City, including Mr. Qi Shuangyuan. Because of the persecution Mr. Qi developed a tic. On November 21st, Hongxinglong Court sentenced Mr. Qi to a six-year term. It was said that if the court announced that a lawyer entered a not-guilty plea for Mr. Qi, his sentence would have been even longer. In October, Mr. Qi's family was able to see him in the detention centre. Mr. Qi's eyes appeared dull and moved slowly. He was in handcuffs and shackles.
