  • Ms. Shi Xiuzhen and Other Practitioners Arrested to Meet "Olympics Quota" in Jilin Province

    On March 18th, 2008, officer Bai Mingku (male) from the Legal Office of the Jiaohe City Police Department and officers from the Xinzhan Town Police Station broke into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shi Xiuzhen's home located in Changjia Village, Jiaohe City. The police violently beat her, then arrested her and ransacked her home. At 8:00 p.m. on March 19th, the police ransacked Ms. Shi's home again and broke a lock to open a storage room. Her 78-year-old mother-in-law was also threatened by the police. It is said that these arrests and ransacking of homes is to meet the "Olympics Quota." The police from Jiaohe City 610 Office and Police Department are to arrest at least four Falun Gong practitioners to fulfill their "assigned task."
  • Mr. Bai Shaohua Arrested after the Death of His Practitioner Brother

    On February 20th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Bai Shaohua was arrested after police stopped to inspect his car. He was sent to Beijing Huairou District Detention Centre. His older brother Bai Xiaojun was repeatedly imprisoned at Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp, Changchun City, where he was so brutally abused that he could not care for himself and lost consciousness. He died in July 2003.

    In 2002, I hung a banner saying "Falun Gong is good" in town and police arrested me. In order to protect other practitioners I refused to give my name and address. Police removed my trousers and brutally beat me with a one-inch-wide plastic tube all over my buttock. Two or three guards pulled my two arms behind my back and tried to handcuff my hands behind my back. Finally they held me down on the ground and someone put his knee on the back of my head. My hands were cuffed behind me. They pulled the handcuffs up, which was extremely painful. Then they suddenly let the handcuff go loose, which made them tighter. They did this repeatedly, which made the handcuffs cut into my flesh and, it seemed like, into the bone. I was in extreme pain and cold sweat ran down my face.
  • Practitioners Tortured in Shanghai's Tilanqiao Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Du Ting, who had been sentenced to eight years of imprisonment, went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. At one time he was on the verge of death and was taken to the prison's general hospital for emergency treatment. In addition, practitioner Lu Jinlong's left arm was broken after prison guards ordered prisoners to beat him.
  • The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Monitors Employees in Beijing in "Preparation" for the Olympics

    Recently, each work unit in Beijing has been asked to pass down a notice requiring them to search for "key persons" who might be disruptive, in to order to maintain "social stability" leading up to the Olympics. This notice included Falun Gong practitioners--people who follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, along with criminals, terrorists and mental patients. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is attempting to mislead people, preventing them from distinguishing good from bad. The CCP is responsible for inciting hatred toward Falun Gong.
  • Intensified Persecution in Qitaihe City: In Order to Identify Falun Gong Practitioners, Policemen Forced Passengers to Kick a Stranger

    Between Qitaihe City and Baoqing County in Heilongjiang Province, there is a tollbooth, and there are police stationed there. In order to identify practitioners, the policemen laid a person on the ground and covered his face. Then they forced the passengers from the buses to kick the person on the ground and to curse Falun Gong and its founder. If people refused to do so, they would be assumed to be practitioners (as they do not hit or curse people) and would be arrested. Every passenger went through strict inspection, particularly those who covered their face with scarf.
  • Mr. Wu Limin, His Wife, and Sister-In-Law from Changsha City, Sent to Forced Labour Camps

    On the afternoon of November 24th, 2007, a student who didn't know the truth about Falun Gong reported three practitioners to the police while they were talking to people on a bus about the persecution. They were arrested and taken to the Wangcheng County Police Department with another practitioner. Here, the four of them were interrogated then detained for one night. The heads and faces of Ms. Zhang Lihui and Ms. Liu Meihsuang were swollen from being beaten during the interrogation. A handful of Ms. Liu Meishuang's hair had been ripped out. Mr. Wu Limin was also badly beaten. The next day, four people were sent to Wangcheng County Detention Centre and then transferred to Xinkanpu Forced Labour Camp.
  • Mr. Li Shimin Suffers a Torture-Induced Nervous Breakdown

    Mr. Li Shimin, in his 30s, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, Police in Beijing arrested and beat him. At a detention centre a doctor injected him with unknown substances. The local police ransacked his home and arrested his wife, leaving his two young children home alone. Officers extorted 2,300 yuan from his father before releasing his wife. Li Shimin was sentenced to 18 months of forced labour and was taken to the Jinzhou Forced Labour Camp where he was brutally tortured. He was locked in solitary confinement, had to endure the Tiger Bench and was subjected torture with electric shock batons, savage beatings, the "Big Hang-up" and sleep deprivation as well as injections with unknown substances. He was released after 16 months of detention but then suffered a nervous breakdown as a result of unspeakable and long-term cruelties.
  • Older Practitioner Mr. Chong Cunjie from Hebei Province Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Mr. Chong Cunjie, 63 years old, was an employee of the Hebei Province Forced Labour Camp. In 1999, the Hengshui City Legal Bureau arrested him for practising Falun Gong. All of the Labour Camp employees pleaded that Mr. Chong be released, but he was sentenced to two years in prison. On February 13th, 2002, he escaped arrest by climbing down a pipe from the fourth floor of his home building. However, he was arrested on March 16th, 2002. He was sentenced to five years in prison, and released on March 16th, 2007. Mr. Chong was fired from his job. He had an 89-year-old mother and young grandson to care for. Mr. Chong's health was severely damaged from being imprisoned for seven years. He died of a heart attack in hospital on February 5th, 2008.
  • Practitioner Zhang Chun from Wuhan City Dies in Custody

    Practitioner Zhang Chun (gender unknown) lived in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. Zhang Chun was arrested while posting up information about the persecution on the night of March 14th, 2008. Several days later, the Wuhan City Seventh Hospital staff suddenly notified the family that the practitioner died of a "stroke," and insisted on immediately cremating the body.
  • Mr. Zhou Qingyu Died in Detention

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Qingyu, 67, was a retired worker from Dajiang Factory in Chongqing City. He was arrested in early 2007, and sentenced to forced labour. He had been detained at the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City. During a training session in July 2007, prisoner Li Liang hit Mr. Zhou in the head with his palm, which caused head pain. Mr. Zhou suffered from a stroke on the night of December 29th, 2007, and died.
  • Practitioner Fu Guichun Is Disabled after Forced Abortion, Imprisonment and Torture

    In May 2002, because she is a Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Fu Guichun was arrested by police and 610 Office officials. They detained her at the Wuyiling Forestry Detention Centre. At that time, even though she was several months pregnant, she was severely tortured by police, who tried to force her to denounce Falun Gong. Chinese Communist officials performed a forced abortion on Ms. Fu using despicable means, and she was sentenced on the basis of fabricated crimes to an eight-year prison term in Heilongjiang Women's Prison. Because of severe persecution, Ms. Fu Guichun developed a serious case of diabetes, rendering her unable to care for herself. Nevertheless, the prison is still detaining her and subjecting her to ongoing persecution.
  • Ms. Jia Yan Dies in Police Custody in Heilongjiang Province

    Ms. Jia Yan lived in Mulan County, Heilongjiang Province. On December 6th, 2007, Ms. Jia Yan was arrested along with three other practitioners by police. The four practitioners were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution in a village at the time of their arrest. They were detained in Tieli City Detention Centre (under the Forestry Police Department). Ms. Jia' family received a call three months later that Ms. Jia Yan had died.
  • Wang Guiming Tortured to Death, His Wife, Threatened after Appealing on His Behalf, Is Afraid to Go Home

    Mr. Wang Guiming was arrested by police and sent to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City on February 27th, 2008. On February 29th, at the age of 38, he died as a result of torture in the labour camp. His wife, Han Fengxia, appealed on behalf of her husband. As a result Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities from the police station and the street and community administration offices have threatened her many times. Right now she is too frightened to go home.
  • Ms. Zhou Huimin Dies in Police Custody in Sichuan Province

    In September 2007, police arrested Ms. Zhou Huimin and ransacked her home. She was then taken to the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre. Later she was detained at the Chengdu City Detention Centre. On February 1st, 2008, the Domestic Security Division of Wuhou District Police Department issued an "arrest warrant" for Ms. Zhou, although she had already been in custody for five months. She went on hunger strike to protest the persecution. On February 5th, guards took her to hospital. On March 10th, a friend of Ms. Zhou heard a Domestic Security Agent say that Ms. Zhou was dying. State Security agents in Sichuan Province Police Department ordered that she not be released. The police replied, "Let her die where she is." Ms. Zhou died at 5:30 a.m. on March 13th, 2008.
