• Mr. Zhao Xun Imprisoned for Eight Years--610 Office Plots to Continue Persecuting Him

  Mr. Zhao Xun, 40, is a practitioner from Hubei Province. Once the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Zhao was persecuted as well. He was steadfast in his belief and he explained the facts about Falun Gong to others. As a result, he was arrested under orders from the CCP 610 Office on April 18th, 2001. Later, a CCP court sentenced him to eight years in prison. In 2002, he was taken to Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang City, Hubei Province. Mr. Zhao did not follow the unreasonable demands while he was in prison, and the guards retaliated by brutally mistreating him. They made him work in an unsafe brick kiln and forced him to stack bricks while they were still red hot.

• Inner Mongolia: Practitioners Tortured with Electric Shocks to Force them to Do Heavy Labour

  The practitioners held in Tumuji Forced Labour Camp tried to resist being forced to work overtime to make handmade carpets for export. The job of making carpets is 7 days a week. Except for Sunday night, the practitioners have to work overtime until 8:30 p.m. every night. This year, the overtime has been extended to 10 or even 11p.m.. They don't have time to wash their clothes. The workshop where the carpets are made is very dusty, which makes it difficult to breathe. If anyone refuses to work, he or she is immediately punched, kicked, and electrically shocked. The person will be threatened with an extended sentence.

• Mr. Huang Weizhong Once Again Persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party Even after His Wife Was Tortured to Death

  On February 12th, 2009, police officers arrested Mr. Huang Weizhong at home. Since he did not co-operate with the police, he was severely beaten. The police tied up his hands and legs and beat him. One of his shoes was knocked off. His eyelids were extremely swollen and one of he almost lost sight in one of them. As a result of the beating, he became incontinent. The police tried to force him to sign to a list of things confiscated from his house. Mr. Huang Weizhong's wife, Zhang Xiaogeng, had been jailed for three years and tortured in Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp. As a result of the different forms of persecution, she died on September 13th, 2006.

• Police Arrest Mr. Chen Xinhong's Entire Family in Zibo City, Shandong Province, His Wife's Whereabouts Unknown

  Since the beginning of 2009, the 610 Office and the Domestic Security Section in Zhoucun District, Zibo City, Shandong Province, have arrested at least 8 practitioners. The practitioners' whereabouts and status are unknown. On February 9th, the police went to Mr. Chen Xinhong's home and arrested him without a warrant. The police said that he was reported for distributing Falun Gong DVDs. On February 14th, Mr. Chen's family went to the Zhoucun District 610 Office to ask about visiting him. Instead of telling the family his whereabouts, Ding Qingming of the 610 Office called the Domestic Security Section to arrest the other family members,

• Falun Gong Practitioner Wang Meiying Tortured to Death in Shandong Province

  2009-04-06
  Police arrested Ms. Wang. She was held at the Chiping County Detention Centre for two days, and then secretly taken to Jinan Women's Forced Labour Camp, without notifying her family. Ms. Wang went on a hunger strike to protest being persecuted. Guards at the labour camp tortured her inhumanly with brutal torture methods, such as sitting on a small stool for long times and standing facing a wall. Besides, she was cruelly force-fed three times. The tube through which she was fed was forced into her and severely damaged her right lung. The injury to the lung caused it to stop functioning. On March 22nd, 2009, she came down with a fever and she died the following day.

• Jilin Forced Labour Camp Persecuted Practitioners Wang Yajun and Zhao Shujie

  The guards in Ward VI in the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province forced practitioners to perform slave labour in order to make huge profits. Even practitioners who were handicapped from the persecution could not escape. Practitioners were forced to work over ten hours a day. Ms. Wang Yajun was in perfect health when she arrived at the forced labour camp. As a result of persecution, she was made unable to properly walk and her vision was blurred. Practitioner Ms. Zhao Shujie was disabled from torture by guards.

• A Good Doctor Sent to Jinan Jail After Being Detained for Over Two Years

  Mr. Li Guoen, a Falun Gong practitioner, was sent to Jinan Prison in December 23rd, 2008. Prior to this, he had been detained for over two years. In March 2006, he was sentenced to four years imprisonment and was jailed at Laixi Detention Centre. During his detention, he was made to treat ill inmates. His family was not allowed to visit him.

• Crimes Committed Recently in the Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp

  On March 1st, 2009, inmates in the Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp plotted to tie up practitioner Mr. Shen Weiliang. They were stopped by practitioner Mr. Zhang Guosheng. The next day the inmates complained to Yu Mingzhu about Mr. Zhang Guosheng. Yu Mingzhu then forced Mr. Zhang Guosheng to sit on a small stool for a long time. Mr. Zhang Guosheng argued with Yu Mingzhu, and Mr. Zhang was then beaten by inmates. As a result, Mr. Zhang's face and eyes became deformed due to swelling. His lower back and legs were injured severely. He needed to be supported by two people to go downstairs to the canteen. At this time, he has not recovered; still, the authorities of the labour camp do not allow him to receive medical treatment.

• Bo Xilai Implements Red Terror in Chongqing City

  In late 2008, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Chongqing City brutally persecuted local Falun Gong practitioners under the guise of "safeguarding the image and dignity of the CCP." It was known that the fifty people arrested at Tongjiaqiao Police Substation were all practitioners. During the interrogations, the police brutally beat and relentlessly tortured them. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Jingzhi was so severely injured that he was sent to a hospital for treatment. Family members strongly requested the release of their loved ones and condemned the persecution, and as a result, most of them were eventually released. However, Mr. Zhang Jingzhi and Ms. Wen Tingyu are still being detained.

• Abused and Forced into Homelessness for Practising Falun Gong

  In 2000, I was arrested again by police. I was detained and abused in the detention centre of Wei County for 6 months. One day, a policeman shackled my hands and took me to the second floor of the Forest Bureau. He interrogated me about participating in a Falun Gong conference but I refused to talk. He then pushed me to the ground and slapped my face, and simultaneously uttered abusive words. Realizing that he could not extort a confession from me, the Deputy Chief Lu Xueping kicked me violently until he was tired. Zhao Kai threatened me, "You will be sentenced to forced labour even if you do not confess anything." To save my family from harassment by the police I was forced to leave my home.

• Three Practitioners in Liaoyang County Detained and Brutally Tortured

  Falun Gong practitioners in Liaoyang City have been brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Some have been forced to become homeless. Some were sentenced to prison or forced labour camps. Many were brutally tortured. Some were sent to a mental hospital and tortured to the point of mental disability. Some were persecuted to death. At least three Falun Gong practitioners from Liaoyang City, Guo Shuyan, Gao Jinling, and Ma Xiukun, died as a result of persecution. Recently, three practitioners were arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and detained by police. They were also subjected to brutal torture.

  My dad Cui Hongde is a very kind man and would never harm anyone. He takes great care of me and my younger brother. A very warm-hearted man, he never hesitates to help those around him. He is very honest and has taught us how to be good people since we were young. In 2002, my father was detained and sent to a labour camp for around two years. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) slandered him and even told my mother that he had an affair to try to break up our family. Ms. Liu Duanai was my Chinese language teacher when I was a freshman in high school. She was very strict as a teacher, but a very gentle person. The last time I saw Ms. Liu was about six or seven years ago. Such a kind teacher was attacked by the 610 Office only because she practises Falun Gong. How can that be right?

• 82-Year-Old Mother Denied the Right to Visit Her Daughter Imprisoned in Liaoning Province Women's Prison

  Ms. Ding Zhengfang, a practitioner from Dalian City, Liaoning Province, is being detained in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison and suffering severe illness. Ms. Ding's younger sister said to the prison officials, "Ms. Ding was in a very healthy condition after practising Falun Gong, without any illnesses. How could she be suffering from so many illnesses suddenly? Has she been confined in a tiny cell?" The two female officials denied this immediately. The two sisters insisted on seeing Ms. Ding but were refused. They had to go back home. When her 82-year-old mother came to visit her after an overnight journey, the prison officials refused to let her meet her daughter with various excuses. She had to return home.

• Ms. Lu Shuling Develops Mental Disorder Due to Torture at the Hefei Women's Forced Labour Camp

  On February 28th, 2009, personnel at the Hefei Women's Forced Labour Camp informed Ms. Lu Shuling's family that Lu Shuling had schizophrenia, and requested that they come and get her. When she got home on March 1st, she did not even recognize her own daughter! Falun Gong practitioners detained in the camp were made to work in the workshop from 5:00 a.m. until past 9:00 p.m. every day. Since April 2008, practitioners in the labour camp have been forced to manufacture computer connecting wires. In summer, there is a toxic smell everywhere in the workshop, but prison wardens in the labour camp disregard the workers' safety to make high profits. After Lu Shuling had finished each full day of work, she was forced to stand until 2:00 or 3:00 a.m.

• Ms. Zhao Huaichun Arrested Again in Beijing, Leaving No One to Care For Her Handicapped Daughter

  Ms. Zhao Huaichun's husband is 65 years old, is in poor health, and needs someone to take care of him. Their daughter is mentally challenged as a result of cerebritis she had while she was young, and cannot take care of herself either. She is over 30 years old, but cannot change her clothes or take a shower by herself, and does not know how to deal with menstruation. She has been entirely dependent on her mother. Now that Ms. Zhao has been arrested, her husband is unable to take care of their daughter and she is in a very difficult situation. Ms. Zhao has been rendered totally blind and unable to walk because of the persecution she suffered the last eight months in Haiding Prison.
