• Ms. Wang Yin Arrested and Taken to a Brainwashing Centre, Elderly Parents Seek Justice

  Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Yin from Jilin City was arrested at her home by officials and police on August 24th. She was taken to the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre, then to the Xinglongshan Brainwashing Centre in Changchun City on September 1st. Ms. Wang’s parents, who are in their 80s, are suing the Chuanying District 610 Office head, Yang Bingwen, for breaking and entering, detention, and physical abuse. They are demanding that the local procuratorate and relevant authorities place the case on file and begin an immediate investigation.

• Police in Huanxian, Gansu Province Arrest Ms. Miao Huixia and Her Child Left Alone at Home

  On August 25th, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Miao Huixia was arrested at her workplace by police and taken to Qingcheng Detention Centre. They snatched away her house key and looted her home. Ms. Miao's 14-year-old son was alone at home. Ms. Miao and her husband Mr. Kou have been persecuted many times by Huanxian 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and police. In 2004, Ms. Miao was sentenced to one year and three months of forced labour in Gansu Women's Forced Labour Camp.

• Mr. Xue Xinde, 57, in Qinghai Province Sentenced to Four Years Imprisonment After Being Tortured

  In a secret hearing the court sentenced Mr. Xue Xinde to a four-year prison term for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong. In 2001, Mr. Xue and three other Falun Gong practitioners were forced to parade themselves in public, with placards hanging in front of them that read, “Against law enforcement” and their names. They were paraded along streets throughout the county. They were then taken to Westgate Stadium, which was filled with spectators. They were placed next to murderers and other criminals. In this televised event with tens of millions watching, Mr. Xue and the other three Falun Gong practitioners were called out and denounced. Event coordinators had organized people who misunderstood Falun Gong to publicly defame Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners.

• Ms. Lou Caihua Subjected to Cruel Torture At Liaoning Women's Prison

  Ms. Lou Caihua from Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province was arrested in February 2008. She was then sentenced to an eight-year prison term. She is currently detained at the No. 8 Ward in Liaoning Women's Prison. In the prison, Ms. Lou wanted to appeal. When her appeal letter was submitted to the prison authorities, it was rejected and returned to her. Under the instigation of guards, Ms. Lou was subjected to cruel beatings by other prisoners at the prison.

• Falun Gong Practitioners from Fujian Province Persecuted with Nerve Damaging Drugs

  On January 6th, 2004, a practitioner from Fujian wrote a report to expose the atrocities that had happened in the Minxi Prison, “When I was held in the Fourth Workshop of the prison's plastics factory, I was deprived of sleep for 48 hours. Chen Weimin, chief of the workshop, deceived me into taking some drugs that cause mental damage. I fell into a deep coma and my heart stopped as a result. When I became conscious, an inmate was so startled that he ran away in unspeakable astonishment because he thought that I was dead. When I got up, I found a wound cut into my chest at area of the heart. The prison guard sent someone to watch me in secret to report on my condition. My heart was subsequently often in acute pain and my mind was unclear for some time.”

• 24-Year-Old Ms. Wang Yujie Has Died after 14 Months of Persecution

  On September 3rd, 2011, Ms. Wang Yujie died at the age of only 24. One year of forced labour and forced brainwashing killed the once-healthy young woman. On March 11th, 2010, Ms. Wang was arrested for posting Falun Gong informational stickers and speaking with people about Falun Gong in Wuhan City. In Hewan Forced Labour Camp, the head guard ordered the drug offender inmates to torture her. They made her squat every day, deprived her of sleep, and made her stand all day long. The inmates threatened her by saying, “If you don't 'transform' [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] after two weeks, we will make up an excuse so that we can hang you up by the handcuffs.” Ms. Wang was also forced to do hard labour.

• Fourteen Practitioners from Qian'an City, Hebei Province, Arrested

  On September 5th, 2011, 14 practitioners were arrested while studying Falun Gong books together. Mr. Li Qinghe, Ms. Li Qingyun, and Ms. Si Fengmin are being held at the Qian'an Detention Centre. Other practitioners' whereabouts are unknown. Officer Pu Yonglai has been with the domestic security team since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999. He has been involved in almost all the instances of persecution of Qian'an practitioners, as many as 300 cases. He has often tortured practitioners brutally.

• Two Brothers Sentenced to Prison and Forced Labour, Senior Parents Had No Way to Appeal

  Mr. Lu Tong and his family live in the Caixiang Community in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Mr. Lu's family of three used to have a happy life until Mr. Lu was sentenced to four years in prison in 2008 for practising Falun Gong. Mr. Lu's wife has eye problems. She and her daughter have to depend on each other to survive. Mr. Lu Tong's brother, Mr. Lu Jun, often went to their home and helped them. However, Mr. Lu Jun was arrested on August 18th, 2011, and sentenced to one year and three months of forced labour.

• Police Refuse to Issue Death Certificate for Mr. Pan Benyu, Who Died As a Result of Torture in Prison

  Mr. Pan Benyu from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, saved the lives of six people. He firmly believed in Falun Gong and followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance but was sentenced to forced labour twice and to prison twice (once for four years, once for seven years) by Chinese Communist Party agents. After suffering repeated abuse and torture in police custody, he passed away on July 17th, 2011. Local police refused to issue a death certificate and cancelled his residence registration, claiming that it was because he was a “special figure.”

• Cases of Falun Gong Practitioners from Fujian Province Detained at Mental Hospitals

  During the People's Congress in March 2000, because she wanted to appeal to the People's representatives, Ms. Guan Yujing was taken to a mental hospital for the second time. None of her family members agreed to take her to the mental hospital, yet Court officials threatened her family into signing an agreement: Without the consent of the provincial court and the police department, she could not be discharged. During this period, she was injected with unknown drugs. She resisted, so the doctor got four male patients to tie her to the bed to forcefully inject her. Officials told her that she had to write a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong before they would release her. Ms. Guan was detained at the mental hospital for over four months.

• Ms. Lu Suning from Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province Sent to Brainwashing Centre, Her Daughter Left Without Care

  Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lu Suning was arrested at her workplace and sent to the Hangzhou Brainwashing Centre by agents from the Hangzhou 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Her eight-year-old daughter was left alone, with no one to care for her. Ms. Lu’s husband died as a result of the persecution he suffered at the hands of China's communist regime.

• Arrest and Detention of Ms. Zhu Chunju from Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province

  On August 16th, police arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Yang Zhongyou and Ms. Zhu Chunju (58 years old) and sent them to the Second Detention Centre. In addition, they arrested Mr. Yang Zhongyou's sister, Ms. Yang Zhongqin, that same day. Their families have been persecuted over the past ten-plus years. Their three children were held in a forced labour camp, and the couple was detained multiple times.

• Deng Fangchen Detained in Brainwashing Centre in Guangzhou for 1.5 Years

  Deng Fangchen, a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on January 13th, 2010. Since then, she has been detained at the Guangzhou Brainwashing Centre. At the brainwashing centre, Deng refused to give up her faith and went on a hunger strike to protest her treatment. The staff at the brainwashing centre tied her to a chair and poked a tube down her nose. They frequently force-fed her and forced her to urinate and defecate while on video. She was not allowed to wash herself or brush her teeth for a very long time. They hoped such humiliation and torture would make her give up her faith. When her brother came to give her clothes, the brainwashing centre refused to let him see her.

• Ms. Song Huilan's Right Foot Falls Off Due to Forced Drug Administration

  Ms. Song Huilan is a Falun Gong practitioner from Hegong City, Heilongjiang Province. She was subjected to forced injections after she was arrested last December. Her brain has been impacted, resulting in slow reactions and difficulty controlling her body. Her right foot festered and turned black. Necrosis developed, and her foot finally fell off. She is now permanently disabled. Her sister was also intercepted by the officers from the Domestic Security Division on her way to appeal to the Huachuan County governor.

• Falun Gong Practitioner Wang Yin Subjected to Torture, Arrested Again

  Ms. Wang Yin was arrested on August 24th, by police. She is being held in the brainwashing centre. Ms. Wang has been on hunger strike for the last five days and is now in critical condition. Ms. Wang has refused to give up Falun Gong and, as a result, has been arrested six times in the last 12 years. She was tortured many times while in detention. When she went on a hunger strike, she was force-fed with high-concentration saltwater. Once, the force-feeding tube was pushed into her lung, causing her to lose consciousness.
