  • Yushu City Legal Worker Refuses to Allow Lawyer to Prepare Defence for Falun Gong Practitioners

    Mr. Zhu Haishan and Mr. Yang Xin are older Falun Gong practitioners both living in the Urban Development Township in Yushu City, Jilin Province. They went to Sihe Town to distribute materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on July 23rd, 2010, but were reported. They were arrested by local police and Domestic Security officers, who took their DVDs, ransacked their homes, and took Mr. Yang Xin's Falun Gong books. These two old men have been detained for over 80 days. On October 13th, 2010, when the lawyer they hired from Beijing went to the Court House to find information, Liang Weiguang, the judge, refused to allow the lawyer to do his work.
  • Woman in Her 70s Forced to Leave Home Due to Persecution

    Ms. Zhao Yingzhe from Lanzhou, Gansu Province, is over 70 years old. She has suffered persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for her belief in Falun Gong for more than 10 years. She has been sent to a brainwashing centre three times, and has been physically restrained in solitary confinement for seven consecutive days and nights. Under the pressure and influence of the CCP, even her own son has participated in her persecution. In order to stop her from practising Falun Gong, he bound her hands and feet with tape and also put tape over her mouth. As a result, the old woman was forced to leave her home.
  • Mr. Li Hongyu from the Bijie Area in Guizhou Province Held in a Brainwashing Facility

    Dafang police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Hongyu on the evening of October 27th, 2010, and immediately took him to the Lannigou Brainwashing Centre in Guiyang City. Mr. Li's elder brother, Mr. Li Donghong has also been arrested and persecuted numerous times for having remained steadfast in his belief, and is currently being held in Guizhou Prison. Mr. Li Hongyu has been seeking help everywhere possible trying to rescue his older brother, and now he himself has been arrested, leaving his disabled wife and child uncared for at home.
  • Four Falun Gong Practitioners Brought to Trial in Kunming City Court

    On November 3rd, 2010, the Kunming Middle Court in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, was scheduled to try four Falun Gong practitioners. On April 12th, these four practitioners were arrested and detained by police. Previously in 2000, one of the four practitioners who is in her 70s, Ms. Wang Shulan, was arrested when she was on a train on her way to Beijing to appeal to the government against the persecution of Falun Gong and put into detention. She was sent to a forced labour camp for three years.
  • A Staged "Informal Meeting" Takes Place at Longkou City Brainwashing Centre in Shandong Province, in an Effort to Slander Falun Gong

    On September 16th, a so-called "informal discussion meeting" took place in Xiadingjia. The three people included a Falun Gong practitioner, a village official, and a township or town official in charge of persecuting Falun Gong. The "discussion" targeted the practitioners who had just returned from forced labour camps. The speaker made use of this discussion session to ask Falun Gong practitioners if they still practised Falun Gong. He slandered practitioners who distributed Falun Gong information.
  • Retired Teacher from Jimo City Persecuted to Death

    Mr. Shao Lirong, 69, a retired teacher, died at age 69 on September 19th, 2010 due to the long-term persecution of Falun Gong conducted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). On September 13th, 2006, Mr. Shao was arrested and taken to the Chaohai Police Station in Jimo while he was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Officers bound his feet and hands and beat him so violently that he lost consciousness. Upon waking up, he vomited blood and was forced to drink washing water. He was sentenced to three years in prison and held in Jinan Prison, Shandong Province. Upon his return, repeatedly harassed him and forced him to write a guarantee statement to give up the Falun Gong exercises.
  • Zuo Xiaoyan, Head of No. 8 Ward of Liaoning Province Women's Prison, Subjects Practitioners to Forced Labour and Abuse

    Zuo Xiaoyan, head of the No. 8 Ward in Liaoning Province Women's Prison, is known for being ruthless when persecuting Falun Gong practitioners and seeking monetary gain. She would set arbitrarily high work loads for the forced labour, and then physically punish or exact fines from labourers who could not finish their daily quotas. All of the practitioners held at the No. 8 Ward were forced to work from early in the morning to late at night. They were subjected to extensive abuse from prison guards and inmates at the instigation of Zuo.
  • Ms. Liu Zezhi and Ms. Li Fang'e from Guangshan County, Henan Province Sentenced To Prison

    Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Liu Zezhi and Ms. Li Fang'e from Guangshan County, Henan Province were arrested around May 1st, 2010, as they distributed Falun Gong information. The county 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong] agents made the arrest, and manipulated the county court officials to sentence the two practitioners.
  • Ms. Lin Jiuliang from Xinjin County Sichuan Province Arrested

    On October 25th, police suddenly broke into the home of Ms. Lin Jiuliang. Ms. Lin asked: "What are you doing? You are not allowed to enter my home without my permission. It is against the law." One of the policemen pulled out a piece of paper, calling it a "search warrant." Ms. Lin read the paper. The words "search warrant" were on it, but there was no explanation or reason for the search, no signature and no official seal. Ms. Lin shouted: "This is against the law!" A policeman entered all the rooms in Ms. Lin's house and rummaged through everything. They pried open drawers and trunks, damaged furniture, and threw clothing on the floor. A week later they came back and arrested her.
  • Kindergarten Teacher Ms. Hu Miaomiao Cannot Walk after Suffering Sexual Abuse in Hebei Province Forced Labour Camp

    Because of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hu Miaomia's activities to expose the persecution of Falun Gong, police officers ransacked her home and arrested her on June 15th, 2010. Without informing her family, they secretly transferred her to Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp to serve a one-year term. Under the orders of team lead Wang Weiwei, criminal detainees tortured Ms. Hu with despicable means. They forced her to stand still for long periods of time and also beat her at will. What was even worse is that they tortured her by stabbing into her private parts with broom handles repeatedly. Such sexual abuse caused tremendous damage to her both physically and psychologically.
  • Ms. Dong Limin from Nenjiang County, Heilongjiang Province, Has Been Imprisoned for Eight Years

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dong Limin has been imprisoned for eight years. As a form of persecution, Ms. Dong was kept isolated from others. She was strictly controlled. Several criminals were assigned to monitor her. She suffers from a serious heart problem, her limbs are weak, and she is emaciated. Ms. Dong was sentenced to 14 years in prison in May 2002 by officials from the Jiusan Agricultural and Reclamation Court. She has been in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison ever since.
  • Practitioner Mr. Jiang Hua Repeatedly Persecuted in Anlu City, Hubei Province

    Mr. Jiang Hua, about 40 years old was arrested in July because he practises Falun Gong. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has persecuted Mr. Jiang many times for practising Falun Gong since the start of the persecution in July 1999. Regime officials tortured Mr. Jiang time after each arrest, attempting to force him to give up his practice. The torture methods included: beating, verbal abuse, standing for a long time, and sleep deprivation.
  • Details of the Persecution Ms. Zhang Guiqin from Qiqihar City Was Subjected to Before Her Death

    As a result of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) brutal persecution of practitioners, Ms. Zhang Guiqin was subjected to numerous detentions, abuse, and torture. She died as a result of persecution on December 4th, 2006. Previously in detention, police tortured Ms. Zhang by pouring soapy water into her eyes. Two of them used extreme force to bend her backwards over a bench. They finally handcuffed her behind her back and hung her up. Another time Ms. Zhang was made to sit on a metal chair with her hands cuffed and feet shackled for seven days.
  • New Form of Torture Devised in Harbin Prison: Sitting on the Side of A Small Folded Stool

    In the spring of 2004, Mr. Yuan Qingjiang was arrested and taken to Harbin Prison. As he refused to be transformed, he was tortured by being forced to sit on the side of a small folded stool for 18 days. He was ordered to stretch his arms forward in parallel and to both sides. He was deprived of sleep and suffered violent beatings. Due to the severe torture, he had a pleural effusion, and became ultimately fatigued and faint. On July 1st, 2004, Mr. Yuan Qingjiang was transferred from Harbin Prison to Daqing Prison. On July 23rd, 2005, he passed away.
  • Officials from Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp, Changchun City, Jinlin Province, Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners with Drugs

    Since 1999, the Chinese Communist Party has used drugs as one of the most insidious means to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioners have been given a great number of forced drug injections that damage the central nervous system, causing them to become disoriented or even to even lose their speech within a few hours. A practitioner witnessed this type of persecution: " A guard took practitioner Ms. Zhao Jinling away. Two hours later when Ms. Zhao was brought back, her eyes looked very dull and teary. She couldn't talk, she drooled uncontrollably, and her limbs were numb. She lost her awareness and didn't realize that she should wear clothes. After she went to the toilet, she didn't know that she should pull her trousers up."
