  • Eighty-Year-Old Mother Risks Her Life to Rescue Son

    Mr. Yang Kaijun, a 50-year-old Falun Gong practitioner in Qian'an City, Hebei Province, was arrested on June 24th, 2010. His home was ransacked by police without showing any proper paperwork. His mother, already in her eighties, held onto the police van trying to stop her son's arrest. The police dragged the old lady along the ground for a long distance. Mr. Yang is now detained at Qian'an Detention Centre.
  • Daqing City Police Arrest Ms. Jin Lixia and Her Husband, Then Extort Money from Their Teen-Age Son

    Mr. Liu Zehe and his wife, Ms. Jin Lixia, from Daqing were arrested for distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on June 18th, 2010. Ms. Jin experienced heart problems and was sent to a hospital for emergency treatment. Wolitun Police Department officers took this opportunity to force Ms. Jin's under-age son to borrow money and sign a document. They threatened they would send Ms. Jin to a forced labour camp if no money was handed in. Mr. Liu was taken to the Daqing City No.3 Detention Centre the afternoon of June 18,th.
  • Police Officer Li Liping from Wuqiao County, Hebei Province, Persecutes Liu Zhigang and Family

    Li Liping, deputy secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) committee of the Quqiao County Police Department in Hebei Province, is in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Since 2001, he has persecuted most of the practitioners living in Wuqiao County. In early June 2010, he started looking for practitioner Liu Zhigang, who had been forced to be homeless for over ten years. After Mr. Liu became homeless in June 2001, his wife, Ms. Gao Lihua, was placed under house arrest and surveillance, and was violently threatened to cooperate with the authorities, against her will, to find and arrest her husband. She had no choice but to abandon her home with her husband. Through years of living a homeless life, in constant danger of being arrested, Ms. Gao died at the age of 43, in March 2004.
  • An Account of Persecution Experienced by a Disabled Person, Ms. Yan Ying from Lingwu City Ningxia Province

    Ms. Yan Ying, 47, is from Lingwu City, Ningxia Province. When she was a year old, she contracted poliomyelitis, which left her seriously disabled, and she later suffered from many diseases. She was so tormented by her ill health that she felt she would rather die. After she started to practise Falun Gong, however, she benefited tremendously, physically and mentally. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, she has been harassed, detained, and held in forced labour camps.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Li Zhuhan Arrested by Wuhan City Police

    Ms. Li Zhuhan, a 60-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on June 24th, 2010 by 10 police officers. These people took two vans and took leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, Falun Gong DVDs, and other personal belongings from her home. When they arrested Ms. Li Zhuhan, her husband Huang asked, "Do you have an arrest warrant? How can you arrest people at will?" They stopped him and said he was interfering with their fulfilling their duties. The police then pushed him aside, forced Ms. Li Zhuhan into the car, and drove to Etouwan Brainwashing Centre.
  • In Order to Rescue Lu Tong, Mother and Wife Have Waited for One Year Outside the Police Station

    Mr. Lu Tong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is detained under a four-year prison sentence. His mother is in her seventies and his wife has an eye disability. Over the past year, Mr. Lu's mother and wife have repeatedly appealed to the Caixiang Police Station in Jinchang District, asking to visit Mr. Lu and to have him released at once. Their request consistently denied, the women have appealed at the Caixiang Police Station more than 100 times.
  • Chinese Citizens Harassed for Advocating Justice for Falun Gong

    Residents of a small town in Liaoning Province were harassed for signing an appeal letter calling for justice for Xu Dawei, a Falun Gong practitioner who was tortured in custody and died 13 days after his release from prison on June 16th, 2009, due to the injuries he sustained while in custody. On April 7th, 2010, the Communist Party Secretary of the village and two policemen went to Xu's younger brother, Xu Youwei's home. They asked Xu Youwei to the Secretary's home for a “casual talk”; the talk was premeditated, however, with three members of China’s political and security apparatus already waiting for his arrival. Some villagers familiar with the case said that the “casual talk” turned into an interrogation. The officials were aggressive and abrupt. They asked Xu Youwei questions such as: “Who brought the signature form?” “Who was the leader?” “Why did you get others' signatures?”
  • Zhang Chunfang Repeatedly Persecuted, Her Husband Died as a Result of the Persecution

    Ms. Zhang Chunfang, 56, was arrested at her home by officers from the Shuangta District Police Station on June 12th, 2010. The officers also confiscated some of her private belongings. Ms. Zhang was sent to the Zhuozhou City Detention Centre and then sentenced to one year of forced labour. Her family members have not been allowed to visit her. Since the former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, they have been repeatedly arrested, sentenced to forced labour, held in detention centres and tortured by the authorities. Ms. Zhang's husband, Li Heng, suffered brutal torture in a forced labour camp. He was released in the beginning of 2002 but remained bedridden until his death in May 2005 at the age of 51.
  • Ms. Li Xiuhong's Appeal to Expose the Brutal Persecution in Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp, Changchun City

    I have been detained in Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp since June 3rd, 2008, and have been subjected to various forms of brutal torture. When I was seen doing the Falun Gong exercises I was forced to stop. I was kicked by guard Wei Dan, and hit around the head by guard Ye Ying, while being dragged to the guards' office. In the office the two guards used six electric batons to shock me. As one electric baton broke, they charged the remaining batons to ensure they always had one to shock me with. Sometimes they used two batons together. Ye Ying also kicked me in the stomach, lower abdomen and thighs.
  • Prominent Teacher Persecuted in Mental Health Centre

    My name is Hu Keling and I am 46 years old. I was a teacher at the Laixi Experience Middle School in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Because I practised Falun Gong, after being arrested in 2002, I was detained in the Mental Health Centre of the Laixi Second Hospital. I was injected with harmful drugs and almost became psychotic. I started a hunger strike in protest, and I was force-fed. The persecutors tied my hands and feet to the bed and held my body down using a strip of cloth across my chest. They inserted a tube down my nose into my stomach. To further torture me, nurses intentionally moved the tube around in my stomach. It was very painful. My knuckles on both hands are still enlarged and deformed today.
  • Mr. Chen Dingguo from Shiyan City, Hubei Province, Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

    In the two months leading up to special Chinese Communist Party meetings on October 1st, 2009, police in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, launched a round of mass persecution of local Falun Gong practitioners. Some of the practitioners were made to pay huge fines while others were arrested. Mr. Chen Dingguo was sentenced to six years' incarceration and is now in Shayang Prison.
  • Elderly Mr. Xie Wutang Persecuted in Wuling Prison and Released Only After Being in Critical Condition

    Mr. Xie Wutang is a Falun Gong practitioner in his 70s living in Changsha City of Hunan Province. He was detained and tortured in Wuling Prison. During this time Mr. Xie was unable to practise the Falun Gong exercises, and his health deteriorated considerably. Despite this, prison officials did not release Mr. Xie until he was in critical condition. Once he was released, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The cancer spread throughout his body and doctors said it was too late for surgery. He remains in critical condition.
  • Ms. He Xianzhen Seriously Ill After Arrest

    Ms. He Xianzhen became seriously ill while held at the Xichang City Detention Centre. She was then sent to Xichang City Hospital. According to sources from inside China, the Domestic Security Division demanded that her family pay the medical expenses before releasing her on bail. In the past, Ms. He Xianzhen had suffered a variety of illnesses that all disappeared after she started practising Falun Gong. In order to let others know about the goodness of Falun Gong, she often spoke to people and distributed information about Falun Gong and the persecution. For this, on September 23rd, 2009, she was arrested and sent to the Xichang City Detention Centre.
  • Four Practitioners in Qian'an City Detained throughout Multiple Court Hearings

    A hearing was held in Qian'an City Court for four Falun Gong practitioners on June 13th, 2010. This was their fourth hearing. Wang Ziliang, chief judge of the Second Criminal Court announced that, because practitioner Ms. Cui Qingru did not appear in court, these four practitioners would continue to be detained at Qian'an Detention Centre. The four practitioners, together with Ms. Cui Qingru, were arrested in October 2007. After three hearings and detentions extended past their terms, the Qian'an Court announced the primary verdict two years later on September 22nd, 2009. Li Yankui was sentenced to four years, Li Qingsong to three years, Zhao Minghua to three years, Zhang Hewen to three years, and Cui Qingru to a term of one year and ten months.
  • Mr. Liu Yong from Nanchang City Arrested--His Family Worried about Him

    Mr. Liu Yong was arrested on the evening of June 9th, 2010. They also ransacked his house. Mr. Liu's grandmother, along with his mother, in her sixties, and his wife went to the Taoyuan Police Station, as well as the Taohua Community Committee, the Qingshanhu Police Department in Nanchang City and other places to find out about his circumstances. They are worried that Mr. Liu may be subjected to torture, and anxiously look forward to seeing him home. His whereabouts are unknown.
