  • Female College Student in Shandong Province Has No Way to Appeal for Her Mother

    Dr. Wu Xiuxin, of the Laixi City People's Hospital in Shandong Province, was arrested last year during the Olympics because she practised Falun Gong. Her daughter, Wu Xin, tried to hire a lawyer to defend her. When she learned that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had issued orders prohibiting lawyers from submitting "not guilty" pleas for Falun Gong practitioners, she fell into despair. Dr. Wu has been sentenced to three years in prison.
  • Qian'an City National Security Team of Hebei Province Arrests Mr. Cai Youwang, Who Does Not Practise Falun Gong

    Mr. Cai Youwang is a taxi driver who does not practise Falun Gong. On May 22nd, 2008, several Falun Gong practitioners hired him to drive them to three villages so that they could distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. They were subsequently arrested by the police. Mr. Cai Youwang was also arrested and had his vehicle impounded. The police used all kinds of methods to torture Mr. Cai. They whipped him with a belt and interrogated him while employing physical abuse. Mr. Cai Youwang is still detained at the Qian'an City Detention Centre.
  • Practitioners Ms. Xu Xiaoping and Ms. Tang Guilin Imprisoned

    Ms. Xu Xiaoping and her mother, Ms. Tang Guilin, are from Xinning, Hunan Province. On March 6th, 2008, they spoke out about the beauty of Falun Gong and the Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong to the police on a bus. They were later arrested and their homes ransacked. Ms. Xu she was arrested again later and sent to the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp for one and a half years imprisonment. Ms. Tang Guilin was detained at Xinning Detention Centre and sentenced to four years in prison. She is currently in Hunan Women's Prison.
  • Two Falun Gong Practitioners from Jilin Province Pass Away After Persecution

    Ms. Liu Xiaoman learned Falun Gong in 1998. After the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal twice, and was detained in the Third Detention Centre of Changchun City and Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp. In the labour camp she refused to write statements renouncing Falun Gong and refused to join in the forced labour. She was shocked many times by electric batons on the breast area. In 2004, her dying father wanted to see her for the last time, but the labour camp would not allow it unless she wrote statements renouncing Falun Gong. She refused. One day in 2007, she was dragged from her home to the local police station. Under the long-term persecution, her health progressively got worse. She was very thin, and her lower abdomen was distended. Her urine was red. On April 28th, 2009, she passed away.
  • Sun Qinghe Arrested While Visiting a Disabled Practitioner

    In early February 2009, the Jiamusi City Public Security Bureau and Police Department, under the direction of the Heilongjiang Provincial Police Department, started a new wave of persecution against Falun Gong under the pretence of ensuring security for the Winter Games. Since February 8th, 2009, more than twenty Falun Gong practitioners and their relatives have been arrested. On February Sun Qinghe went to visit disabled Falun Gong practitioner Liu Xiaobin and planned to stay there to take care of him. Police waiting outside Liu Xiaobin's home arrested Mr. Sun and ransacked his home. They sent Mr. Sun to the Jiamusi City Detention Centre.
  • Five Practitioners Arrested and Charged with Illegal Assembly

    On the morning of March 18th, 2009, Ms. Tang walked to Suxianling Mountain. On the way, she met four Falun Gong practitioners. They were tired and took a rest in a small pavilion near the mountain. A police patrol soon passed the pavilion. The officers approached and charged the group with illegal assembly. The police refused to hear any explanation and forcibly took them to the Suxian District Police Station. The same day three police officers drove a police vehicle to Ms. Tang's home. Without a search warrant, they took Falun Gong books, cash and personal belongings.
  • Wang Yongqiang Brutally Tortured in Police Custody

    Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Wang Yongqiang on August 1st, 2008. They ransacked his home, taking away valuables and a large amount of cash. At the police station the police tortured Wang for 3 days. They did not give him food or drink, enclosed his head in a plastic bag, put burning mosquito repellent under his nose for a long time, and smeared pepper into his mouth, nose and genitals. They also tied him up and hung him up for one hour. After they put him down, Wang Yongqiang was in excruciating pain and could barely move. The police would sadistically kick his sides periodically.
  • Ms. Zhang Zhiqin Detained and Beaten Mercilessly

    Ms. Zhang Zhiqin, 47, is a Falun Gong practitioner in Liaoning Province. On March 31st, 2009, police found her in the Changan Community and beat Ms. Zhang horribly, kicking her head, body, and legs. Ms. Zhang covered her head with her hands and cried out, "Falun Gong is good!" Many bystanders witnessed the beating. The officer reported her and had her arrested. Ms. Zhang was sent to the Shenyang City Detention Centre on April 2nd.
  • Cruel Acts of Abuse at the Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp

    The police arrested 32-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zheng Wei on September 3rd, 2008. They took Zheng to Qiaotun Police Station, and officials Xu Laisheng and Feng Lijian were assigned to persecute Zheng Wei. After ransacking Mr. Zheng's home, the police sent him to the No. 1 Detention Centre of Tangshan City, and sentenced him to two years of forced labour on September 26th, 2008. He has been held at Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp for more than eight months. Mr. Zheng's wife was seven months pregnant at the time of his arrest, and the infant is now six months old, never having seen her father. His family is very worried about him.
  • Dr. Xue Chaohui from Fujian Province Still Being Detained after Three Years of Persecution in a Forced Labour Camp

    Ms. Xue Chaohui, a physician in the Quanzhou City People's Hospital, Fujian Province, was sentenced, for a third time, to forced labour in December 2005, because of her steadfast belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Her sentence was over in December 2008, but she is still being held and persecuted, with all sorts of excuses, in the Fujian Provincial Women's Forced Labour Camp. During the past year her foot became infected and festered until it was so painful that she could not sleep. For the past few years, she has been held in solitary confinement.
  • Tianjin Police Detain and Persecute Ms. He Yana by Fabricating False Drug Charges against Her

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. He Yana was visiting her friends and distributing leaflets exposing the persecution in the Hexi District on March 9th, 2009, when she was arrested by local authorities. She was reported by someone who was deceived and didn't know the true facts about Falun Gong. At Machang Police Station Ms. He was severely beaten, causing internal injuries, and she still has blood in her urine to this day. The police tried to force her to give up her belief in Falun Gong but she refused. Police locked Ms. He up in the Rehabilitation Centre of Tianjin Ankang Hospital and then brought false charges against her, saying that she was taking addictive drugs.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners and Defence Lawyer Arrested in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province

    In late February 2009, eight Falun Gong practitioners and members of their families were arrested by police in Harbin City. Three of the practitioners are still being detained. The police have refused to release them or to permit relatives or friends to visit them. Mr. Wei Liangyue, a lawyer and the husband of practitioner Ms. Du Yongjing, was also arrested. Mr. Wei had provided legal representation for Falun Gong practitioners, for which he had been threatened by agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
  • Ms. Zhao Chunjie from Gongzhuling City Arrested, Her Daughter, a Student, Is Having to Defend Her Innocence

    On February 12th, 2008, Mr. Lu Yaowu and his wife, Ms. Zhao Chunjie, Falun Gong practitioners, were arrested by police. Even though Mr. Liu was soon released, officers were still trying to press charges against him. As a result, he was forced to leave home and live elsewhere. Ms. Zhao Chunjie, who was cruelly tortured, was recently brought to trial. Her daughter, Lu Yiming, went everywhere to try to find a lawyer to defend her mother. Because the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) pressures lawyers not to take Falun Gong cases, Ms. Lu couldn't find anyone brave enough to defend her. So she, a student, had to defend her mother herself.
  • Persecution in the Hubei Women's Forced Labour Camp

    The Hubei Women's Forced Labour Camp forces practitioners to write "three letters"(letter of breaking from Falun Gong; letter of ceasing practising Falun Gong; and letter of exposing Falun Gong). Policemen use video, newspapers and books that slander Falun Gong to brainwash practitioners. They often use drug addicts to abuse and beat practitioners. This labour camp is extremely strict to Beijing practitioners. Policemen stripped off the clothes of a Beijing practitioner in Team Two, dragged her through several rooms and threw her into an isolated room, forbidding anyone from seeing her. From that room often came sharp cries for help.
  • Elderly Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in Dagang District, Tianjin City

    In 2008, before the Olympic Games began, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents intensified the persecution of practitioners, claiming that it was in the best interest of the Olympics. The 610 Office in Dagang District arrested more than a dozen practitioners without a warrant, including Ms. Dou Guirong. They were released after several days. The detention shocked Ms. Dou mentally and physically. She developed health problems, which worsened quickly. She passed away on March 2nd, 2009. The death of Ms. Dou presents a great hardship to her family, especially to her elderly mother. Her mother exposed the persecution to people and was arrested on March 20th, 2009.
