Murder Suspected in Older Practitioner's Sudden Death in Chongqing Forced Labour Camp

On May 13th, 2008, the day after the major earthquake in Sichuan Province, Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Jiang Xiqing, 66, was taken from his home by Communist Party officials. On December 2nd, 2008, his family learned that Ms. Luo had been sentenced to eight years in prison. On July 30th, 2008, Mr. Jiang Xiqing was taken to the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. On January 27th, 2009, Mr. Jiang's family went to visit him at the Camp. He seemed to be in good health at that time. However, within less than 24 hours, on January 28th, labour camp officials called his family to notify them that Mr. Jiang had died. Mr. Jiang Xiqing's death was a complete surprise and very suspicious. The police wanted to cremate his body to cover up the murder evidence. -
Honest Farmer in Shanxi Province Arrested, Sentenced to Forced Labour and Tortured
2009-02-06On January 11th, 2009, practitioner Shang Yongfa's family went to Zaozihe Forced Labour Camp to visit him. They noticed a big swollen bloody lump on the back of his head. There were wounds on his forehead, and the back of his right hand was frostbitten. When a family member asked him what happened, Shang Yongfa merely cried and did not reply. Mr. Shang Yongfa, 52 years old, is an honest, benevolent, and helpful man. He was arrested for no legitimate reason and his family is worried about his safety. -
Higher-Ups Order Experiments on Practitioner at Yongchuan Prison Hospital, Chongqing City
2009-02-06On May 12th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Shurong announced his determination to practise Falun Gong. The guards tortured him and forced him to attend brainwashing sessions. They made him maintain a sitting position until May 19th, 2008. Mr. Liu went on a hunger strike to resist this treatment. Prison officials decided to do an experiment using Mr. Liu to see how much he could endure. They used shackles and handcuffs to restrain Mr. Liu on a hospital bed. They inserted a feeding tube through his nose into his stomach and force-fed him toxic food and fluids. Every day they administered 2000 mL of fluid, a total of four bottles a day. Every minute, 150 to 180 drops were injected, sometimes close to 200 per minute. One female guard said, "Inject faster. If he dies, then that's it." -
Ms. Zhao Guiqin Paralysed from Torture and Sentenced to Three and a Half Years in Prison
2009-02-06Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Guiqin was arrested in September and during her detention was tortured to the point that her legs were paralysed. On October 27th, Ms. Zhao's seventy-year-old mother received a phone call telling her that Ms. Zhao was dying and her legs had been paralysed. Her mother was extremely sad and worried because her daughter had been almost persecuted to death several times before. On December 12th, the court secretly sentenced Ms. Zhao to three and a half years in Donggang Prison. -
Mr. Zhang Litian Dies from Prison Beating--Liaoning Procuratorate and Appeals Office Refuse to Receive His Family Members
2009-02-05Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, Mr. Zhang Litian was harassed and persecuted many times. In April 2008, he was arrested by police and imprisoned in the First Detention Centre. He was sentenced to a five year prison term in August 2008, then he was persecuted in the Jinzhou Prison in October. On November 17th, Mr. Zhang died after being brutally beaten by prison guards. His family members went to Liaoning Province Procuratorate of Shengyang City on December 23rd, 2008 to call for justice but were refused. -
Mr. Wang Ren Dies after Prolonged Persecution
2009-02-05In June 2005, police arrested 53-year-old Mr. Wang Ren and sentenced him to three years in the Changlinzi Men's Forced Labour Camp. The guards used many cruel torture methods to try to force Mr. Wang to renounce his beliefs. He was also forced to perform slave labour for eleven hours a day. Under such brutal mental and physical stress, Mr. Wang fell gravely ill. In order to shirk their responsibilities, the Wuchang City 610 Office took him home on February 1st, 2007. By the end of November 2008, he was bedridden. He died on December 11th, 2008. -
Older Practitioner Ms. Liu Fanqin Imprisoned Six Years for Exposing Policeman Who Raped a Female Student
2009-02-05Ms. Liu Fanqin is 60 years old. She exposed the vicious police officer who raped Ms. Wei Xingyan, a Chongqing University female graduate student. Ms. Liu was arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police in June 2003. Afterward, the CCP's public security and judicial systems brutally tortured her during their interrogations. She was physically disabled and could no longer care for herself. Later, she was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment in Chongqing City. The severe persecution suffered by Ms. Liu Fanqin in prison caused her serious health problems. -
Practitioners Maltreated in Huaihua City Mental Hospital, Hunan Province
2009-02-05The clinical staff at the Huaihua No. 4 People's Hospital put practitioners into an isolated room and force-feed them with medicine. Some hold the practitioners' hands and feet and squeeze their nostrils shut while others force-feed medicine into their mouths. Personnel tie practitioners to the "iron bed" with bandages and leave them there for several hours. One practitioner who was tied to a bed lost consciousness and was almost disabled. The hospital staff also inject practitioners with yellow-coloured liquid medicine. Practitioners who have been injected suffer many symptoms, including drooling, sluggish movement, difficulty moving their hands and feet, and blurred vision. Practitioners held a hunger strike to protest the torture, but were force-fed with salt water. -
The Brutal Persecution of Practitioners in Tuopu Detention Centre, Shantou City, Guangdong Province
2009-02-04Seven practitioners are imprisoned in Tuopu Detention Centre. They have been beaten, are forced to work around the clock, and are allowed only two to three hours sleep a night. Mr. Xu Shuiliang was arrested by officers from the Jinsha Police Station in October 2007. He was hung up and beaten for a long time. His knees were beaten with sticks, and he was deprived of sleep for a week. Ms. Xu Wanlan, 41, was arrested by police in October 2007. She is jailed in Tuopu Detention Centre. Almost every day she has been forced to sit on the ground and do handwork. She is allowed to sleep, at most, three or four hours a day. -
Exposing the Persecution at Wangcun Forced Labour Camp
2009-02-04After extensive investigation, we have learned of the following incidents of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at Wangcun Forced Labour Camp: Mr. Li Gang was hung by his handcuffed wrists in a toilet for seven consecutive days. The guards didn't allow him to close his eyes during this period. Mr. Gao Hong was forced to sit on a narrow bench, and not allowed to blink for six days. On the seventh day, the guards turned the bench upside down and forced him to sit on the tips of the bench legs. Mr. Xue Cunlin was handcuffed and hung up for several days. During this period, guards used sticks to forcefully jab into his rib cage for two hours. -
National Security Agents in Shuangcheng City Arrest Mr. Jia Shuangyou and His Wife, Ms. Jiang Xiuzhen
2009-02-04Since the Chinese Communist Party began its persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Jia Shuangyou and his wife, Jiang Xiuzhen, have been arrested and detained several times. Once Ms. Jiang was jailed in Wanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp and Mr. Jia in Changlinzi Men's Forced Labour Camp at the same time, leaving their teenage daughter on her own. Missing her parents, along with all the terror she faced, she developed chronic depression, became very sickly, and suffered from many illnesses. She passed away on December 11th, 2004, at the age of 22. On January 16th, 2009, the couple were arrested again because they practise Falun Gong. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Abused in Mental Hospital in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province
2009-02-04The No. 5 People's Hospital in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, is a mental hospital in Jiujiang City. It has continued to play a direct role in the persecution of practitioners Ms. Jiang Xiaoying, who is a nurse at the No. 5 Hospital, and Ms. Wang Ying. The two have been detained at the hospital for long periods, and treated as mental patients by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel. Ms. Jiang was tied down and injected against her will with drugs that damage the nervous system. Both of them have been forced to divorce their spouses. On January 21st, 2009, Ms. Wang's ex-husband went to the hospital to request her release. The head of the health safety department turned him down. -
Mrs. Zhu Yifang Severely Tortured in Chuanxi Prison
2009-02-03On April 25th, 2006, Ms. Zhu Yifang from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, was forcibly taken from work by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents. She was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment at Chuanxi Prison. After being subjected to constant torture at the prison, Ms. Zhu developed oedema and kidney failure in November 2008. Her back and legs were so swollen that she was unable to get out of bed. Her abdomen was also severely swollen. At one point, the prison sent Ms. Zhu to the Police General Hospital of the Pubic Security Bureau. She was in critical condition and was sent back to the prison because the hospital did not want to take responsibility for her death. -
Professor at Sichuan University Sentenced to Prison, His 94-Year-Old Father Seeks Help for His Release
2009-02-03Mr. Ding Zeyang, a professor of the Macromolecule Chemistry Faculty of Sichuan University in Sichuan Province, was sentenced on August 10th, 2008 to 4 years of imprisonment by the Wuhou District Court, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Mr. Ding's case has entered the next stage in the court, but his lawyer was not allowed to make any photocopies of the court documents. The court required that the lawyer hand in his defence for Mr. Ding as soon as possible, so that they could conclude the case soon. Since Mr. Ding was arrested on September 13th, 2007, his 94-year-old father has attempted to see him over 10 times. -
A Mother Appeals for Her Daughter in Jail
2009-02-03I am the mother of a Falun Gong practitioner. My daughter has been detained for six months. I call out her name in my dreams and awaken in tears again and again. From 1999 to 2009, my daughter, Jiao Xuemei, was arrested and detained four times. During the past 10 years, she has been persecuted again and again. Our family has suffered great loss financially and has suffered tremendous mental pressure. On June 16th, 2008, on the eve of the Olympic Games, officers from Xishandao Police Station again detained Jiao Xuemei and took her to the Tangshan No.1 Detention Centre. The Lubei Court put her on trial on September 19th and sentenced her without evidence of any wrongdoing.
