Mr. Zhang Litian Dies in Jinzhou City Prison, Liaoning Province

In April 2008, using the excuse of preparing for the Olympics, Jinzhou City police located every Falun Gong practitioner on their list. They locked Mr. Zhang Litian, 36, up in the Jinzhou City First Detention Centre. He went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. In August, the court sentenced him to five years in Jinzhou City Prison. He died on November 17th, 2008. The Prison Administration told his family that he died of a heart attack, but his family knows that Mr. Zhang was very healthy and never had any heart problems -
Report on a Trial Held in Mudanjiang City Agriculture and Reclamation Administrative Bureau Court

The Mudanjiang City Agriculture and Reclamation Administrative Bureau Court was called into session on November 6th, 2008, to try Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Yang Dianjun, his wife Ms. Ba Fenglian, and Ms. Zhang Chengyu and her husband (a non-practitioner). The practitioners defended themselves by stating that personal beliefs are protected by the Chinese Constitution and that it is not a crime to practise Falun Gong. In addition, five lawyers presented arguments and entered innocent pleas. Ms. Zhang Chengyu's husband had a defence lawyer, and four colleagues testified on his behalf. The debates were intense and heated on both sides. -
Three Women Arrested in Front of the Court in Jilin City, Jilin Province
2008-11-27At approximately 10:00 a.m. on November 11th, 2008, in front of the Chuanying District Court, three women in their fifties and sixties were arrested for shouting "Falun Gong is good." That morning, inside the building, the trial of three practitioners, Mr. Liu Chengda, Mr. Wang Ying, and Mr. Li Hailong, was held, ending at about 10:30 a.m. At 10:45 a.m., the police van with the three practitioners who were on trial was leaving the courtyard, while the crowd at the gate shouted, "Falun Gong is good! Falun Gong is good!" -
Practitioners Subjected to Brainwashing During the Olympic Games in Shanxian County, Shandong Province
2008-11-26At the end of 2007, police used extremely brutal and barbaric means to torture practitioners. Some practitioners were put on the "Tiger Bench" for six days in a row, and they were deprived of sleep. They were also tied up on bed frames and they could neither squat nor stand up. In the meantime, their hands were tied behind their backs and they were hung up. Sometimes they were hung up with their hands cuffed behind their backs until they passed out. Then the thugs would pour cold water on them to revive them (in the winter). After long-term brutal torture, the guards then secretly put some anti-psychotic drugs into their water or food, leaving the practitioners mentally disoriented. When that happened, with this despicable means, the thugs were able to force "confessions" from them. -
Twin Brothers from Shenyang, Liaoning Province Persecuted for Practising Falun Gong

On August 10th, 2008, Mr. Cong Liang was taken from his home by the police. He is imprisoned in Dadong District Detention Centre, Shenyang City, where the conditions are very poor. It is an underground jail in which prisoners are deprived of sunlight year round. In 2001, he was detained at the Dadong District Police. He was forced to jump from the sixth floor of the building, suffered many bone fractures and was in a coma for 11 days after the fall. -
The Persecution of Practitioners and Their Families in Guizhou Province
2008-11-26In the past nine years, officers from the Chishui City Police Department actively participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. In this region 20 to 30 practitioners' homes were ransacked, and their families were victims of extortion by the police. Mr. Dai Qiyuan and his wife were twice sentenced to forced labour in the Zhongba Forced Labour Camp. They are currently detained in the Chishui City Detention Centre, and have been secretly sentenced to prison. Mr. Dai's older brother Mr. Dai Qiming (in his 70s), has been detained multiple times and subjected to extortion. In addition, the whereabouts of his children are currently unknown. -
Mr. Chen Yongtao and His Wife, Mrs. Zou Danyu, from Guangzhou Arrested
2008-11-26On April 15th, 2008, Mr. Chen Yongtao and his wife, Ms. Zou Danyu, were arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) staff members. Their family went to the station to ask the police to release them. The police refused and would not allow the family to visit them, either. When the family tried to deliver some clothes on their first visit, the police would not allow them to give them the clothes, claiming that they did not have enough documentation. The second time the family members went to deliver some clothes, the police would not even allow them to enter, saying it was because of the Beijing Olympics. The third time their excuse was the Paralympics. The police told the family that they could deliver clothes after September 22nd, 2008. The family members asked, "What do the Beijing Olympics have to do with delivering some clothes?" The answer they got was, "It is an order from above." -
Retired Teacher and Her Daughter Detained in Liaoning Province

Ms. Yang Shuqing, 68, is a retired teacher from the No. 38 Middle School in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. She and her daughter, Ms. Li Fangfang, were arrested by officers from Shisiwei Road Police Station in Heping District before the Olympics, because of their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They have been detained for over four months, with Ms. Yang's husband, close to seventy years old, left at home without any care. -
Nanjing Military Region Retired Elderly Veteran Arrested Again
2008-11-25On June 28th, 2008, 76-year-old Ms. Luo Zuhua was arrested for explaining the truth about Falun Gong in public. Police put her under house arrest, however, she still managed to leave her residence. The deputy head of the commission, Xu Caihou, issued a warrant to catch Ms. Luo, alive or dead. In September they arrested Ms. Luo again and detained in the Huaxi Retired Military Officers' Sanatorium. In 2001 she was sentenced to two years of forced labour and after that detained for another two years in a brainwashing centre. -
Ms. Chai Yuehua from Huairen County, Shanxi Province, Sentenced
2008-11-25In August 2000, police arrested me for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. I was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour in Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp. I suffered from brutal tortures, including beatings, verbal abuse, and being hung by my handcuffs. Once I nearly died from a brutal beating. I went on a hunger strike for 56 days to protest the persecution but was force-fed. I was pressured to write a "Repentance Statement". I also became mentally disordered due to the abuse. In February 2008, while handing out CDs exposing the persecution, I was arrested again. I was taken to Yuci Forced Labour Camp for a 3-year sentence and brutally mistreated. -
Facts of the Persecution of Mr. Liu Pinhong and His Wife, Ms. Wang Lingyun, in Hubei Province
2008-11-25Mr. Liu Pinhong, age 35, and his wife, Ms. Wang Lingyun, age 29, live in Suizhou City, Hubei Province. They were both arrested in 2006 by the 610 Office and Domestic Security officers Li Jinbo, Zhang Yong, and Liu Guoqing. Mr. Liu Pinhong was sentenced to 21 months of forced labour, and his wife was sentenced to 15 months of forced labour. They were both released in 2008, but they are both still very swollen and very weak. -
The Tortures I Was Subjected to in a Lanzhou Brainwashing Centre
2008-11-24At the end of 2004, I returned to work after I was released from three years in a forced labour camp. From 2005 to 2006, my workplace kept asking me to write a so-called Guarantee Statement to declare that I wouldn't practise Falun Gong any more. I refused. On January 9th, 2007, Public Security Bureau police dragged me out bed and took me to Lanzhou City Brainwashing Centre. They tried force-feeding me. They pulled me up by my hair and made me face up, then they tried to push a plastic feeding tube through my nose. They tried numerous times without success. I almost suffocated to death, and I struggled due to the agony. They stepped on my legs so I could not move. The handcuffs rubbed the flesh off my left wrist. Later they forced drugs into me. The drug was bitter, numbing, and caused nausea. I was tortured on and on. -
Ms. Pan Jing Has Been Cruelly and Repeatedly Persecuted by the Communist Regime
2008-11-24Since July 1999, Ms. Pan Jing has been persecuted by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel many times because she will not give up her practice of Falun Gong. She has been arrested, incarcerated, and sentenced to imprisonment. When she was imprisoned, she refused to be "transformed" and was consequently subjected to force-feeding. Her oesophagus was injured and she bled profusely during the force- feeding. The prison personnel kept her in handcuffs and shackles and repeatedly shocked her with electric batons. They also hung her from the ceiling. As a result of being subjected to these tortures, her legs swelled and she could no longer even take care of her own daily needs. -
Ms. Shen Honglei Put on Trial Five Times in Shanghai
2008-11-24Ms. Shen Honglei has been arrested and detained for one year by the police and Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) agents of the 610 Office in Shanghai. During this period, she has been put on trial five times, and still has not been sentenced. However, the personnel of the 610 Office sent her to a forced labour camp for three years. The date on the notification letter sent to her family members was later than the expiration date by which they were allowed to appeal the case to an upper-lever court. As a result, they didn't have any way to appeal for her. -
Older Practitioner Mr. Ou Jiafa from Chenxi, Hunan Province Arrested and Persecuted Again
2008-11-24On September 18th, 2008, when the police took 60-year-old Mr. Ou Jiafa away again, he had not yet recovered from injuries incurred as a result of being tortured in the Hunan Huaihua Brainwashing Centre. Currently Mr. Ou is being held in a detention centre. In September 2007, police arrested Mr. Ou and took him the Huaihua Brainwashing Centre. Later on, a doctor examined Mr. Ou and declared that he was ill. Those in charge forced Mr. Ou to take drugs that destroyed his central nervous system, which caused him to drool, walk slowly, and speak unintelligibly.
