Elderly Mr. Yang Xiyao from Yanshan County, Hebei Province Detained in Prison

In 2000, 68-year-old Mr. Yang was arrested while he was appealing for the end to the persecution. He was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment in Baoding Prison, Hebei Province. Mr. Yang was tortured so severely by the National Security Team at the Yanshan County Police Department and at Baoding Prison that he began to experience heart palpitations and vomit blood and he developed high blood pressure. Only when he was close to death in January 2006 was he released on bail for medical treatment. After Mr. Yang returned home, he again began to practise Falun Gong. As a result, he became healthy again very quickly. On April 21st, 2008, police arrested Mr. Yang again and sent him back to Baoding Prison. -
Mr. Cui Guangyong Dies From Persecution in Wangqing County, Jilin Province
2008-06-07Mr. Cui Guangyong, 38, was a Falun Gong practitioner. However, after the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, he was not allowed to practise Falun Gong because of pressure applied by the local police departments. Some of the village officials frequently went to Mr. Cui's home to harass him, both physically and psychologically. He was forced to leave his job and was sentenced to forced labour twice. Those same officials extorted thousands of yuan from his family. In October of 2007 he was again sentenced to forced labour. After he was released, he died on May 29th, 2008, as a result of this persecution. -
Ms. Zhang Mengxia Sentenced to Five Years of Imprisonment After Suffering Multiple Arrests, Brainwashing and Torture
2008-06-07Because Ms. Zhang Mengxia refused to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong in May 2002, officials at her workplace escorted her to a brainwashing centre to "reform" her. She suffered many other detainments and torture. On October 1st, 2007, Ms. Zhang, accompanied by other practitioners went to a popular tourist site in Zunhua City to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution. Local police officers arrested her and detained her in Zunhua Detention Centre, where she is still being held. She has been brutally force-fed, causing her hands and face to be covered with blood. It was too miserable to look at. On April 17th, 2008, six other practitioners together with Ms. Zhang were sentenced at the Zunhua Municipal Court. She was sentenced to a five-year term. -
Please Help Rescue My Daughter, Ma Duo--A Letter of Appeal to People of Goodwill
2008-06-07My daughter, Ma Duo, has been held in Jiamusi Detention Centre in Heilongjiang Province for more than five months for practising Falun Gong. She might be sentenced now. I miss my daughter and worry about her. My daughter was about to leave for work on February 13th, 2007, when a group of police officers barged into our home. They ransacked our home, confiscating my computer and other personal belongings. Three police officers dragged me to their car and took me to the suburban Changhong Police Station. Then they went to Ma Duo's place of employment to abduct her. She was taken to Changhong Police Station. She has since been held in Jiamusi Detention Centre. I was released from detention because of my poor health. -
Practitioner Ms. Ye Huizhu Persecuted in the Tianhe District, Guangzhou City
2008-06-07On April 15th, 2008, officials broke into Ms. Ye Huizhu's home. Once inside they looked around carefully in the three rooms. Not finding anything, they went back to the living room and told Ms. Ye's son that his mother was doing work exposing the persecution outside and that someone had discovered her. They demanded to know where she was. When Ms. Ye Huizhu heard about this incident, she worried about further persecution and didn't dare go home. Over the past nine years, Ms. Ye Huizhu, who is over 60, and her family have endured harassment and other forms of persecution. Her family has had to endure a great deal of pressure. Her personal safety is now threatened. She has since been arrested, detained, brainwashed, and harassed six times. -
Police in Shouguang City, Shandong Province, Arrest and Sentence Falun Gong Practitioners to Forced Labour Camps Without Any Constraint
2008-06-06On May 1st, practitioner Guo Guangjun was reported when distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong, arrested by police officers and forced into making confessions by means of torture. The following day, Li Xiue was also arrested by officers of Yangkou Police Department. Her home was ransacked, and her computers and other personal belongings were confiscated. Policemen beat up Li Xiue, extorted confessions from her through torture, and did not allow her to sleep for four or five days. -
Xu Shutang from Jianli County, Hubei Province Persecuted in Brainwashing Centre
2008-06-06On May 13th, 2008, practitioner 68-year-old Mr. Xu Shutang was arrested by seven police officers from the Bianhe Town Police Station of Jianli County, while he was on the way to work. In the afternoon, he was transferred to the notorious Tangxunhu Brainwashing Centre in Wuhan City, Hubei Province for further persecution. Previously, in September 2003, Xu Shutang was arrested by police officers from the 610 Office and jailed. Mr. Xu was not allowed to sleep. The guards and inmates took turns brainwashing him by defaming and and falsely accusing Falun Gong, forcing him to watch video programmes defaming Falun Gong, and forcing him to write reports denouncing Falun Gong after watching the videos. -
The Despicable Conduct of the Police in Kouqian Town, Yongji County, Jilin Province
2008-06-06As the 2008 Beijing Olympics approach, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is intensifying its persecution of peaceful Falun Gong practitioners. The Party claims this is necessary to ensure "a successful Olympics." Party officials such as the director of the 610 Office of Yongji County closely follow orders from the Central Committee of the CCP. In the beginning of March 2008, they arrested two teachers from Beidahu Town Primary School, Ms. Wang Jing and Xu Qing. They deceived Ms. Wang Jing by telling her that they would pay her salary while she was detained in a forced labour camp and then arrested her. She has been detained for more than two months, and family visits are not allowed. -
Recent Crimes Committed by Kunshan 610 Office and Domestic Security Division Agents
2008-06-06When Mr. Zhu Xingfu, 58, and other practitioners raised a banner at Tiananmen Square in Beijing to announce their disagreement of the persecution of Falun Gong with the regime sometime between July 20th, 1999 and 2001, a group of police officers violently beat them before sending them to a detention centre in a Beijing suburb. The police there greeted them with punches, kicks and slaps in the face. Mr. Zhu's face and mouth were bloody and bruised. The police continued to beat him the next day. A policeman kicked him so hard that he fell to the ground. The policeman stomped on his body and continued kicking him. Mr. Zhu could not even stand up. They stripped him of his clothes and continued to beat him. His knees were injured so badly that he could not move his legs. -
Practitioner Violently Beaten to Death in Jiangsu Province
2008-06-05A male Falun Gong practitioner was arrested in May 2006 while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong in Shibei Town, Jiangsu Province. The police took him into custody at the Shibei Town Station, and then detained him in the Kunshan City Detention Centre. The detention centre transferred a group of prisoners from the Xinjiang prisons so that they could be employed to violently "punish" the people arrested. This practitioner was soon beaten to death by the encouraged prisoners. -
What I Know about Mr. Gu Qun, Who Died in a Detention Centre on April 8th
2008-06-05To stand up for Falun Gong during the persecution, Mr. Gu Qun took the train to Beijing to appeal in February 2000. He was arrested, escorted back to Dalian, and then detained at the drug rehabilitation centre. After his appeal in Beijing, Mr. Gu was arrested six times, detained, sentenced to forced labour, and severely persecuted. On March 16th, 2008, Mr. Gu Qun was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. Police officers arrested him. The next day he was taken to Yaojia Detention Centre in Dalian City and was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. Before he was escorted to the forced labour camp, in the morning on April 8th, Mr. Gu died in Yaojia Detention Centre. Only 23 days had passed between the time of his arrest and his death as a result of torture. -
Crimes Committed by Hulan Prison's Training Team
2008-06-05For newly arriving practitioners, the Training Team first uses threats and inducements. After that, they force the practitioner to stand for 16 to 17 hours at a time, and sometimes for 24 hours in a row. They also subject practitioners to a torture where the practitioner is first pushed down to the ground, face down. They then pull his arms up behind his back and then force them forward. At the same time, they pull his legs apart. Some practitioners' arms were dislocated, and they fainted from the pain. Another method of torture is solitary confinement. The solitary compartment has rings attached to the floor, and the guards fix the practitioners' hands and feet in the rings, immobilizing him on the ground. -
Zhang Sulan and Her Son from Linghe District, Jinzhou City Sent to a Forced Labour Camp
2008-06-05Ms. Zhang Sulan and her son are Falun Gong practitioners who live in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. In the past few years, they have been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and have been unable to live in their own house. They remained homeless for as long as seven years. On the afternoon of April 12th, 2008, they were arrested by police from the Liuhua Police Station in Linghe District, Jinzhou City, and were locked up in the Jinzhou City 2nd Detention Centre. Currently, they are both detained in forced labour camps. -
Zhou Yongkang Secretly Ordered the Arrests of 50 Practitioners in Shenyang City
2008-06-04Around May 24th-26th, many practitioners went missing in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Among these, twenty-four were arrested in one night in Dongling District. Another practitioner was also missing and her paralysed mother has been left at home without anyone to care for her. An internal source revealed that when Party Political and Judiciary Committee Chief Zhou Yongkang arrived in Shenyang City, he secretly ordered the arrests of 50 practitioners. Now we have confirmed at least 30 that were arrested, with many more suffering brutal treatment, and many families living in terror. Mr. Miao Qisheng, has been tortured to death by police officers in Shenyang City. His wife Zu Liming was also arrested on May 24th, 2008. Their son Miao Yumeng (nicknamed Mengmeng), once again lives alone. -
Please Help Falun Gong Practitioner Li Feng, Who Is Being Persecuted at the No. 4 Prison of Shijiazhuang City
2008-06-04Because he was involved in broadcasting a TV programme about the persecution of Falun Gong, practitioner Mr. Li Feng was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment at the No. 4 Prison of Shijiazhuang City. Torture in the prison damaged his health, as Li Feng developed heart disease and high blood pressure in late 2005. His family requested that the prison allow Li Feng to go home and receive treatment, but their request was rejected. They were told that Li Feng had not been "transformed" yet.
