• Practitioner Mr. Liu Jianwen of Shanxi Province, Dies at 38 as a Result of the Persecution

  Mr. Liu Jianwen, a Falun Dafa practitioner passed away on October 17th, 2006, after being persecuted for many years. He was 38. In October 2001, he was sentenced to two years of forced labour. By the summer of 2002 he was skin and bones and suffered severe anaemia. By the time he was released Mr. Liu did not recover and his legs felt numb all the time.

• Five People from One Family Detained; Ms. Zhao Yinglan Dies at 69 Due to Persecution

  Ms. Zhao Yinglan was from Jiansanjiang Farm, Heilongjiang Province. Five people in her family were arrested and detained, including her two sons, one daughter, and two daughters-in-law. Four of them (except her younger son) were sent to a forced labour camp; all because of their belief in Falun Gong and following the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." On March 20th, 2006, Ms. Zhao's daughter-in-law, Ms. Cao Xiufang, was arrested again. Because of all the sorrow, worry, and pain she went through, 69-year-old Ms. Zhao died on June 16th.

• With a Sign of "Service People" Hanging High, the Chinese Communist Party Refused to Discipline Policeman Who Assaulted 85-Year-Old Lady

  On September 8th, 2006, policemen Liu Zhongping arrested practitioner Mr. Meng Xiangqi. Mr. Meng was sentenced to six years of imprisonment. On October 30th, Mr. Meng's grandmother, Ms. Zhang Shulan, went to Kangping local police station and requested that policeman Liu Zhongping return the money and release Mr. Meng. Officer Liu insulted and humiliated her. Later, Ms. Zhang went to Liu Zhongping's home to again request that he return the stolen money. Liu slapped Ms. Zhang hard across her face and beat her. Ms. Zhang went to the chief procurator to make a complaint. He said, "Liu Zhongping hit you outside his working hours. This incident is not considered as 'a policeman hitting someone.' It is not considered illegal or a violation of regulations."

• Mr. Huang Min Tells of the Cruel Tortures He Suffered in Forced Labour Camps for Five Years and Seven Months

  In September 2001, I was transferred to Yushan Forced Labour Camp. They used violence in order to make me renounce Falun Gong. The prison guards had four inmates brutally beat me on an average of six rounds a day. When they realised that beating would not work, they resorted to different means of torture. They kept hitting my wrists and finger joints with a pair of forceps until all the soft issues and tendons were badly swollen. In addition, they hit me on my ankles and toes, the areas that are more sensitive to pain. They made a hammer out of copper wires and used it to hit my head until there were bumps all over my head. Finally they poked my fingertips with large sewing needles until my fingers bled profusely.

• The 610 Office and National Security Office of Guangshui City, Hubei Province, Persecute Mr. Zhang Pengfei

  On Wednesday, September 6th, 2006, Deputy Secretary Hu Dekui of the Guangshui Administration Office in Hubei Province took Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Pengfei to Xiaogan for a brainwashing session. Mr. Hu said, "The order to apprehend Mr. Zhang came all the way from the top. State officials are not allowed to practise Falun Gong, and because Mr. Zhang practises, he must be "transformed." We didn't really want to do this because we don't have the funds and now we'll have to pay a few thousand yuan for his living expenses and send along an official to accompany him."

• Ms. Chen Weijun Persecuted in Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison

  On September 30th, 2006, practitioner Ms. Chen Weijun was sent to the prison hospital. After 10 days, not a single doctor had checked in on her or asked her about her condition. On October 5th, a criminal inmate named Xu Jinlan saw that Ms. Chen was meditating and slapped her in the face. Then head inmate Xiu Shufen had two other inmates watch her 24 hours a day. They also had many criminals surround and shout at her. They said they had orders from Zhao Yingling to do so. The criminals also used the the cover of a plastic box to slap her face. They punched her and threw her from one bed to another. As a result, her legs turned black and blue.

• Recent Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners at Heilongjiang Women’s Prison

  Ms. Liu Dan is 31 years old. On March 1st, 2006 she was arrested and taken to Heilongjiang Women’s Prison and has been on a hunger strike for more than four months. Convicts Xiao Lihua, Zhang Jing and Gao Hong used forced-feeding to torture Liu Dan. Every time they force-fed her they tied her to a chair or a bed and taped her mouth or pulled her to the floor by yanking her hair. Ms. Liu Dan was persecuted until she became very weak. Finally the perpetrators had no choice but to send Lui Dan to the infirmary, where murderer Li Guixiang continued persecuting her.

• Stories of Practitioners Who Died as a Result of Persecution

  On September 28th, 2001, 52-year-old Ms. Wang Xiurong was arrested by the police and dragged down the stairs from the third floor. She was detained at the local police station, where she was severely beaten by the Deputy Director, and was not released until she was tortured to near the point of death. The 610 Office also forced her to write a letter renouncing her beliefs and practice of Falun Gong, otherwise her son would lose his job. She developed rectal cancer and passed away on September 23rd, 2003.

• Practitioners Poisoned Intravenously at Weifang Detention Centre in Shandong Province

  After being injected with this poisonous material, the practitioner immediately felt dizzy with blurred vision. His feet and hands began swelling the next day and getting worse by the day. He had generalised muscle aches with worsening oedema, and he became covered with blisters all over his body accompanied by extreme itchiness. After the skin was scratched open it formed layers of scars, leaving black or brown discolouration. One month after the injection, his nails began to fall off and he experienced hair loss. In the end he lost almost all of his hair.

• Further Information on Elderly Ms. Cheng Guilan's Death in 2002 As a Result of Persecution by the No. 2 Forced Labour Camp in Anning District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province

  Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Cheng Guilan, was over 60 years old and a senior engineer. One night in October 2002, she was sent to the No.2 Forced Labour Camp in Lanzhou City. Within 48 hours, she was secretly tortured to death by the guards in the forced labor camp. In order to cover up their crimes, the labour camp lied by saying that Ms. Cheng's life had been in danger when she was brought there. Yet the prisoner assigned to monitor Ms. Cheng admitted, "When she was sent here, she was very healthy."

• In Remembrance of Practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhong

  In 2004, after suffering a series of inhumane tortures, Mr. Zhang Zhong was in critical condition – all his organs were malfunctioning, he had spasms in muscles all over his body, partial psychological paralysis, breathing complications, irregular heartbeat and he was in a coma for long periods of time. His blood pressure constantly oscillated around 40-50 mm. Hg. He was reduced to skin and bones. Only in this near-death situation did the prison agree to have him bailed out for medical treatment. Even then, the city was barricaded and Zhang Zhong was not allowed to go outside Daqing City for treatment in Harbin. Seeing his emaciated son, Zhang Zhong's father could only cry silently and helplessly.

Practitioners who refused to give in would be brutally tortured by policemen and prisoners alike with methods such as: scalding with boiling water and burning with cigarette butts; striking with a iron hook and scalding with a heated iron hook; eight policemen and prisoners hold one practitioners down and savagely beat him; placing live rats in practitioners' trousers; chaining practitioners in a way that they could neither stand nor squat.

• Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Jiang Yuejun Suffered from Persecution at the Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp

  A member of Mr. Jiang Yuejun's family visited him in Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp. They learned that Mr. Jiang's throat was so severely damaged that he could barely speak. The sound of his voice had completely changed. Mr. Jiang said his throat was injured because of the beatings the guards gave him under orders. Division head Feng said, "We were quite nice to him in the first week he was here." Mr. Jiang has been imprisoned for more than two weeks. It's apparent that Mr. Jiang was subjected to severe abuse during the second week. Mr. Jiang told his family that his "environment" was very bad. He lost so much weight that he now weighs less than 100 pounds.

• Ms. Li Bin Recalls How She Was Tortured and Shocked by Guards in the Beijing Labour Camp Dispatch Office

  Practitioner Ms Li Bin experienced ruthless torture, especially electric shocks, which nearly killed her. In an interview a reporter asked: "How did it feel when you were shocked by electric batons?" Li Bin replied: "When the guards us shocked me, I was sweating all over and my clothes were wet. I first felt pain, as if I was being pierced with needles. I heard the sizzling noise. It was truly horrendous. I could also smell the burning of my hair and skin. Sometimes the electricity went to my brain. That was even worse. It felt like I was having a seizure because the nerves were stimulated on top of the pain. You can only try to imagine what kind of feeling that is."
