  • Husband Dies in Anguish While 70-year-old Wife is Jailed in Penglai City

    Elderly Ms. Men Hongfen was sentenced to a four-year prison term in January 2011. Her husband, Chi Weiguo, died on January 16th as a result of grief. Ms. Men wouldn't give up practising Falun Gong and told people the facts about it. She was arrested many times by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents, and has been arrested three times by the Daxingdian Police Department since 2005, and forcibly taken to brainwashing centres.
  • Ms. Chen Shulan Jailed for Eight Years, Daughter Still Missing

    Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen on September 16th, 2002. She was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and detained in the Beijing Women's Prison, where she was badly mistreated. She was released on March 17th, 2010, after serving her full term. That same day, however, she was arrested again and taken to the Changping District Brainwashing Centre where she was subjected to 70 days of brainwashing before finally being released at the end of May 2010. Her 10 year-old daughter is still missing. Ms. Chen brother Chen Aizhong was tortured to death at the Hehuakeng Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City on September 20th, 2001. Ms. Chen's sister, Chen Hongping, was taken to a forced labour camp; both of her legs were broken by communist officials and she was tortured to death at the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp on March 5th, 2003.
  • First-Hand Account of Persecution as Told by a 54-Year-Old Woman from Jinzhou, Liaoning Province

    I am a 54-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. Because of my belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I was repeatedly arrested and tortured. In 2001, I was detained again and I protested by going on a hunger strike. Seven or eight criminal detainees participated in force-feeding me under the instigation of the police. They put me down on a "tiger bench" and tied me up with metal wire, twisting the wire with a pair of pliers until it cut into my flesh, causing excruciating pain. My arms turned black and blue. Then the police inserted a tube (the width of a finger) into my throat. Blood instantly gushed from it.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Severely Abused in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp, Changchun City, Jilin Province

    On January 4th, 2011, in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp, team chief Ding cruelly beat Ms. Zhang Li because she refused to give up or renounce Falun Gong. To make the practitioners suffer more, Ding made many regulations. For instance, practitioners must report to and ask permission from the chief guards if they want to go to the toilet. In many cases they were not given permission and had to use a bucket in their room as a toilet. Their room could be very cold in the winter because the radiator was broken, but they were forced to keep their door open during the daytime.
  • Details on the Persecution of Practitioners from Qujing City, Yunnan Province

    Practitioners Ms. Huang Xilan, Ms. Rao Xue, Mr. Liang Yun and his wife (name unknown), Su, and Wang were arrested and taken to the Domestic Security Division of Qujing Police Department on June 22nd, 2010. In October practitioners Su and Zhao Li were arrested and taken to a forced labour camp. Police ransacked Huang Xilan's home on January 30th, 2000 and she was then sentenced to 2 years of forced labour. In 2005, police put her in the Yunnan Women's Forced Labour Camp for 2 years and 9 months for practising Falun Gong.
  • Ms. Yang Jinying Persecuted to Death Seven Years Ago; Her Son Recently Files an Indictment

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Jinying was persecuted to death at the age of only 53 in November 2003. She was subjected to so much torture that she became paralyzed and lost control of her bodily functions. Even though her condition was critical, the police still sentenced her to three years of imprisonment. Her two sons were attending middle school at the time. Mr. Wang Lei, Ms. Yang's older son, recently filed an indictment against the Qiaocheng District Police Department for persecuting his mother to death. He requested an investigation and the prosecution of those responsible.

    From a very young age, Mr. Ding Xuesen was aggressive, and he smoked and drank. He was a bully in school and often involved in group fights. After practising Falun Gong, he was no longer aggressive and became a person with high morals. However, after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Ding was brutally tortured because he believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
  • Mr. Yang Jianpo Arrested Again; His Wife Tries to Reason With the Prison Guards

    On December 28th, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Jianpo was arrested again. His wife wrote a letter to the prison officers in Jidong Prison in the hopes that they would be able to realize that they were taking part in the persecution of good people. Mr. Yang was arrested before—in 2006—and sentenced to six years in prison. He resisted the persecution and went on a hunger strike for two years and eight months. On September 29th, 2008, he was released and taken home by people from Jidong Prison. When he came back, he was extremely emaciated and weak, and his internal organs were barely functioning.

    Mr. Wang Zhansuo was formerly vice-president of the Intermediate People's Court of Agriculture in the Seventh Division of the Xinjiang Production & Construction Army Corps. He was known to be a very competent judge. Despite this, he was arrested and sentenced to four years in prison just because he practised Falun Gong. He has been imprisoned for more than ten months. As a result of persecution, he has become emaciated and very weak. He has difficulty eating and can barely walk by himself.
  • Older Practitioner Mr. Zhang Qingshan from Changping District, Beijing Imprisoned for Four Months by 610 Office

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang, 57, was arrested on September 5th, 2010 by local 610 Office personnel [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong], while he was discussing the facts about Falun Gong with people. Agents from the 610 Office tricked Mr. Zhang’s wife into opening her door by saying that they were checking on household registration documents. They broke into and searched Mr. Zhang’s home. They also attempted to detain Mr. Zhang’s wife, but failed. Mrs. Zhang also refused to sign a detention notice for him. Officials took Mr. Zhang away in handcuffs. They confiscated many of his family belongings. His whereabouts are unknown. Mr. Zhang has been persecuted many times previously for practising Falun Gong.
  • Seven Falun Gong Practitioners Sentenced

    The Zhaoyuan City Court of Shandong recently sentenced seven Falun Gong practitioners to imprisonment. Mr. Kao Fuquan was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment; Ms. Song Guihua, wife of Mr. Kao Fuquan, was sentenced to seven and a half years; Ms. Yang Lanxiang, a disabled person, was sentenced to seven and a half years; Ms. Diao Yunying was sentenced to seven years; Ms. Pang Cuirong was sentenced to four years; Mr. Yang Wenjie was sentenced to four years; and Ms. Teng Yingfen was sentenced to four years. Police arrested the seven practitioners in 2010. They were detained, tortured, and interrogated. The court and other legal departments have not allowed the practitioners or their families to hire lawyers. They have also not allowed family members to attend the trials.

    Practitioner Ms. Xia Deyun and another practitioner, Ms. Su Huizhen, were arrested by police when they were distributing Falun Gong materials in Dongying on October 25th, 2010. Their homes were then ransacked and they were detained for 15 days at Liuhu Detention Centre. The two practitioners protested the detention with a hunger strike, but they were brutally force-fed by the police. Ms. Xia's health was in critical condition due to torture. She was sentenced to two years of imprisonment in a forced labour camp.
  • Personal Account of Persecution Told By Chen Shufen in Longxi County, Gansu Province

    Ms. Chen Shufen was persecuted for a long time by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and police because she practised Falun Gong. She was sentenced to forced labour camps twice, where she was tortured and made to do forced labour. She recounts the persecution: "In the No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp in Gansu Province, I was forced to wrap disposable chopsticks. The soaking solution was strong and toxic, and could turn all of your hair yellow. My eyes were irritated and could not open, and sometimes I could not even breathe. It would also make people faint. When I finished working, I was reluctant to even eat. In the detention centre I was also hung up three times."

    Six years ago, on April 16th, 2005, two women–Xu Lihua and Shi Guihua– were arrested by police. These two women were persecuted for practising Falun Gong. A week after Ms. Xu was detained, she felt her vision blurring. A few days later, the guards gave her medication, claiming that it would cure her eyes. After taking medication for a week, her eyesight deteriorated. Officers put her on an IV drip. As a result, she was in extreme pain. She asked what medication they had given her, but they would not tell her. Half a month later, she completely lost her eyesight. Officers contacted her family members to send her to the hospital for treatment, but upon examination, the hospital told them it was too late to treat her. Ms. Shi suffered a mental breakdown
  • Crimes Committed at Duyun Prison in Guizhou Province

    Duyun Prison is one of the most notorious places where the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. Guards were especially cruel towards Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Shiwen, and he ended up suffering a mental breakdown from the brutal torture. His arms were broken from the beatings. They made him watch slanderous propaganda on TV. If he showed even the slightest motion they would assault him, pour boiling water on him, or burn him with lit cigarettes. They would not let him sleep for days while constantly bombarding him with insults and violent attacks
